Description of Work: Very professional and helpful. Answered all of my questions and was thorough and understandable in his explanations. My 220V outlet to an electric range was arcing and released smoke. It ended up being a poorly installed unshielded ground wire in the wall. This had tripped the breaker and resetting the breaker did not restore power. | |So for safety and piece of mind I wanted an electrician to look at it especially in case it needed new wiring. He had it diagnosed quickly. He even answered unrelated, and appropriately qualified, questions about the original source of the problem, an electric oven. And then he examined the breaker box to make sure it was functioning properly. He advised on maintenance and pointed out where our home builder had obviously cut corners with just barely standard equipment. He did not push for additional services at all. He was friendly and informative and in the end charged for less time than he actually spent.

Description of Work: Another provider said I needed a new electric panel at a discounted cost of $2990. I called Byers who said that was excessive. He came out that day, and although he recommended a panel replacement, he was able to replace the faulty part, and inspect the old panel for safety. He used an old use part for the unavailable breaker, and gave it to me at no charge. He said cost for a new panel would be less than half what the other provider was asking. He made a strange comment, that he wanted to help the customer with his problem, not just make money???? I will always call him for my electric service in the future.

Description of Work: Service was outstanding, Mr Byars was so professional and competent. The work was quick and excellent. The price was fair and reasonable. I will always call Byars Electric for any work I need done from here on out. They repaired an exhaust fan in my attic that the roofer's left open wires dangling, installed two new plugs, removed an old light fixture and installed a remodeling unit until my remodeling work is completed, and brought our outside electric plugs up to code and fixed the light over my bar. Consulted with me on future work to be done after new roof is installed and provided information on the best choices of equipment I should purchase for my fixtures I am replacing.

He knew what he was doing and even went beyond the call of duty & also fixed my bathroom exhaust fan.  + -1 moreIt went well. Roger was prompt, and forthcoming about what he needed to do. I have three cats and he was very patient and careful not to let them out. It was a day-and-a-half job and he was careful to clean up after himself in every case, which I appreciated. He also caught some things I didn't know about and fixed them, and I was glad of that.
Description of Work: Added a grounded circuit for my office and aquariums, put in GFCI outlets in bathrooms and kitchen and on the patio, fixed several open splices in the attic, put in new light fixtures, moved a light fixture, and added several outlets.

 + 0 moreWe had a ceiling fan/light fixture the just quit working. Not knowing who to call I turned to "Angie's List". Called Mr. Byars to set up an appointment. He arrived on time, said it was most likely a common wire to both the fan and light. Checked everything out, tightened the wire and it was fixed! Completed the job very quickly and his charge was very reasonable. Will definitly keep his name for future reference!

He was here in about an hour, spent less than an hour fixing the problem, and even put a GFI ($9) in the bathroom to fill out the rest of the hour we were paying for. We're extremely happy with him, we plan to use him on an ongoing basis, and we strongly recommend him to anyone in Norman needing electrical work.
Description of Work: We were experiencing intermittent room-wide electrical failures in our master bedroom, starting in the early afternoon.

I called Byars electric, within 45 minutes he arrived at our house, quickly id'ed the problem, corrected it and installed a GFI receptacle in the existing box. The whole job took less than 30 minutes. Mr Byars was very professional and patient.
