After I made an appointment, I nearly cancelled after I was shown the other reviews. But based on a friends experience, I went ahead and took a chance on Rick and his team at ER Services. I dont know what was going on with him in 2014 when they were written but Rick will be back again and again at this house. I had purchased the wrong size microwave and my fence had fallen down in a section of the property (the post had broke). Rick's crew came out and replaced the post and a section of fence without me having to take off work, they cleaned up after themselves, and the repair looked perfect. Rick and I worked out a time for him to come out at a later day to hang my microwave. Since the microwave was taller than the one it replaced, other people were telling me to drilled into my tile.. which was something I was not comfortable with. Rick showed up with help, on time, and worked through the process of hanging a microwave that was bigger than it should have been for that spot. I mentioned that I also needed a hose hanger mounted outside, and he asked if I would like him to do that. Sure! His work was impeccable, his manners were on point, and his prices were very fair. Thank you ER Services. (I should have mention he went and bought all the supplies and hauled them to my house).

Made it all worse. He did the bidding and had one of his apprentices do the work. He never came back to inspect.

At first things went very well...The owner, Rick Avery, and Jose came and secured the poor framing job the first contractor did. Rick charges by the hour so $39/hr/man. My husband did not get a quote for the full job, but was told it would be about 9,000 and 3 weeks to complete. He started work in mid July. They got the roof and walls secure. The electric was a problem, but they blamed most of that on the other contractor. They finally got that done, but used mismatching switches (some beige some white). Rick said they would get that fixed, but it's been over 2 weeks since that was discussed and no one has been out to address this issue. (Since I started this review 1 month ago, Rick finally came out and fixed this and the electric to the garbage disposal which was not hooked up originally. Also, Rick couldn't fix some of the other electric mistakes Jose made, so he had his electrician come to fix them. He forgot to have the electrician hang the over the sink pendant light, and Rick told me to expect a bill from the electrician to be about $150....to fix what Rick's crew screwed up!!!) The tiling was horrible. Loose tile, poor grouting, wrong sized tile and chipped tile were all found. One of the loose tile was pulled up and we found dry wall mud!!! Who puts drywall mud on tile??? These mistakes were also addressed to the owner. He said they would fix these. They have been out several times to address these issues, but they keep making the same mistakes over and over again. They are not good at tile work (DO NOT USE THEM FOR TILE). The owner even was there the last time they replaced the tile and did not notice the huge chips in the tile and now it's been grouted again. They a;sp ,issed a large crack in the tile that the plumbing in the shower came through. Jose (the supervisor on this job) knew about it, and Mike knew about it, but MIke was told to keep his mouth shut. They grouted the pebbles for our shower floor and didn't wipe it off until long after it was dried. This caused the grout to stain the white pebbles, and they couldn't just wipe off the grout. They used some type of acid to remove the grout which discolored the pebbles. This also caused the grout to pull away from a lot of the pebbles and crack. I pointed this out us yesterday, they re-grouted over some of it, but there are still areas that are cracked on the floor. I am going to fix this myself. I am DONE with Rick and his crew. Each time they come to repair, more dust gets everywhere in the house because they use a grinder to remove the grout. I am highly allergic to dust and have addressed this issue numerous times with the contractor. I am TIRED of having to point out the chipped tile and the poor grouting over and over again. They did finally fix the floor tile everywhere and regrouted it, and it looks better, but still not like a pro would have done. The wood floor went OK. They got a lot of glue on the floor, and then scraped it off in places...This of course scratched my floor. Rick said they'd use stain to cover this up, but didn't. And there is still some spots with glue on it. To start the wood floor project off, Jose noticed our bedroom floor was not level, so he wanted to run the flooring a certain direction...Mike poured leveling concrete to even the floors before laying the wood so the floor would be level. (Again, don't let JOSE in your house!!!) The electric and the trim could have been done anytime in the past 8-12 weeks, but Jose never got around to it. I am tired of seeing things half done. So I am looking at getting someone else to come complete the work including what Rick has said he would fix at no charge. (See above about Rick hiring his electrician friend to come and fix the problems they caused.) Jose hung drywall in different sizes along the same wall in our dining room/entryway. He gave me a bunch of excuses as to why it had to be done that way. I wasn't able to case the entryway (door) due to the large variations from 1/2 in to 5/8 in dry wall used on different sides of the entry and along the same wall. Jose told me that once it was "floated" (mudded) you wouldn't be able to tell it was different sizes...This is not correct. There are large humps in the wall. Now I have to make the baseboards, chair rail and crown moulding look right. When I told Rick about it, he said he'd have his guy case the door for me. This included 3 pieces of wood that had to be ripped to fit the openings. Rick charged me for 2.5 hours to rip and nail up 3 pieces of wood. Plus the wood isn't the same size as the drywall on one side of the entryway. So Rick told me that I sould take a board and hammer and hit the sheet rock until it dented in to the size of the wood (so it would be flush with the wood). His excuse was "this old house" remodel, and nothing is ever perfect in "this old house". For 2.5 hours to put up 3 pieces of wood, you ought to be dead on. I put up all the baseboards in 2rooms and a hallway (and I am a novice) in 2.5 hours. They keep accepting other jobs when ours is not finished, and they don't show up anymore unless I call them. Rick was rude to me on the phone once when I called to tell him I needed something fixed so a different contractor could complete the plumbing. He must have felt bad about it, because the next day he told my husband he was sorry. His excuse for his rudeness was that I scared him (over the phone). Rick is a very nice person normally, and I don't believe I scared him unless he meant I was fed up with unprofessional work and he thought I was going to fire him. My husband and I am tired of the unprofessional work. Rick has yelled at me twice and quit twice only to get his temper back under control apologize and ask to finish correcting all the problems. Rick did give us a 2 year warranty on the tile work due to poor workmanship (only after I texted him a picture of the drywall mud under the tile and after my husband told him not to yell at me again). I will never use him again, even if my entire floor cracks and falls apart...Nothing in this world would make me want to work with him again. NOTHING!!! I would not hire them again especially for a big project. They do not pay attention to details, and then Rick throws a tempertantrum when you point out their short-comings. They also were way over their original estimate of $9k and 3 weeks. (I am through with them and it's now the 2nd week in October.)
Description of Work: He was hired to repair former contractor's mistake in framing and complete kitchen and master bath remodel. This included framing, some minor electric, drywall, tile, and wood flooring.
