Alicia has always been a true professional in every aspect. She calls you back if she missed a call, shows up and gets the job done when she is scheduled but most importantly her and her team will go above and beyond every time. This is the only mason and foundation repair company I use and you would be wise to do the same.

My husband found Alicia's Mason Repair on Angie's list and contacted them to do a bid for work on our house.  We were just finishing a 10 year remodel on our home, and we had added 3 exterior walls that we needed to be bricked to match the rest of the house.  Alicia came out to give us an estimate and told us it would only take them 2 weeks to lay the brick work.  On the East and West wall of the house, the brick had to match up with the brick on the rest of the house.  We knew it was a difficult job, and I was surprised by what I thought was a low bid. The bricks they brought to the house to use were not the same shade as the bricks that were currently on the house.  They were just going to add the new bricks into the existing brick work on the East and West wall which would create an obvious line in the wall where the colors changed.  We had some loose bricks that matched the ones on the house, so we requested that they use the old bricks to finish the East and West wall so that they would match and then use the new brighter red bricks that they had brought to brick in the South wall, that had no existing brick work on it.  This should have been a suggestion by the company to make sure the brick work matched.  After 2 weeks, the brick work still wasn't done.  There were several days when we came home from work and no work had been done on the house.  We asked if they would be able to lay a brick porch for the new front door we had installed.  We wanted a rounded porch with 3 steps.  We should have drawn them a picture of what we wanted, because what we ended up with was a 3 tier cement monstrosity that only had bricks laid flat on the edge of the steps.  They filled the center with broken bricks and trash and then poured cement on it.  They didn't use any forms, so the steps are not uniform, straight, or symmetrical.  After completion, I was so disappointed in the workmanship that when I received the bill that was twice the original quote, we refused to pay it.  We negotiated the price, but I am still stuck with an ugly cement porch with steps that are too shallow for a normal size foot to fully fit.  I will have to hire another company to correct the work done which will cost me more money.  The brick work done on the house itself is very good and clean.  The only complaint I have is that the bricks on the South side of the house are different than the rest of the house, but I understand that new bricks can't always be matched to old ones, and I thought our solution was a decent one.  You can barely tell the difference since they are on different facing walls.  My issue with this company is in the fact that the final bill was twice as high as the original estimate and the work took twice as long and the porch I was left with is an embarrassment.
Response from Alicia's Mason Repair
"Dear [Member Name Removed], I apologize that this was a bad experience for you. It seems there was a disconnect in communication somewhere. I did not know you were dissatisfied until I read this review. Your husband contacted me to do the work and everything was coordinated through him. The original estimate was for footings and brick to be laid only on the addition (and a small area around where the new front door was installed.) When I did the estimate, I was told there was plenty of original brick to tie in on the sides and I would only have to purchase a few new brick. When we went to get the brick from the pasture, we discovered most of the brick were broken up and unusable with some dumped in the pond. I told your husband we could get more new brick but would have to mix them in with the old on the sides that were to be tied in. This was not an acceptable solution aesthetically so he requested we take down all the old brick on the 3 walls around the entrance and clean those brick to use to tie in to the old brick on the sides. I told him I would have to measure and give him a new estimate. He told me don't worry about it, we will square up after it's done. When the old brick on these three walls were removed, it was found to not have a sufficient footing, so we had to pour footings for those walls as well. So, total I did five whole walls of new brick and 2 partial walls tieing in to the old brick. So in addition to a lot of extra time and labor, I now had to purchase brick for five whole walls. When the porch was requested, you are right, we should have drawn up something. Mr. [Member Name Removed] told me how far out he wanted the porch to come. I advised that it should be bigger to accommodate a larger stoop and steps. He told me he wanted to leave plenty of room for your flowerbeds. I had him use his foot to measure for the steps to be sure the steps would accommodate. I agree the porch is small but I was trying to accommodate Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s requests as I am sure he was trying to accommodate what he thought at the time your preferences. We did take off a few days for my son's eye surgery and his follow-up appointments. I apologize if you were not made aware of this. I thought my husband had talked to Mr. [Member Name Removed] about it. As for the price adjustment, this was due to the added work and material. As for the refusing to pay.. I was not made aware of this, Mr. [Member Name Removed] and I had talked about reducing the price in exchange for hay and grazing. I apologize you have lived unhappily with this porch all this time. If you would like to draw up with dimensions what you would like, I would be happy to remove the existing porch and build you a new one to your specifications. Sincerely, Alicia Henderson"

We had a mail box that was rotting from the inside out, several deteriorating spots on external walls and two holes where a woodpecker had wanted to set up home.  Alicia was very professional from the outset.  She set up an appointment to assess the work so she could quote.  She arrived on time then sent us a detailed costed quotation by e-mail.  Alicia worked on all the areas quoted for.  She called saying that she wanted to check on any damage that torrential rain may have caused before the final coat of stucco on the top of the mailbox had time to dry.  Alicia returned to replace the external finish, when the weather was more predictable, as she wanted her work to look as professional as she felt it had to be. Very hard working, efficient and reliable.  I have no hesitation in recommending Alicia's Mason Repair.

Alicia arrives promptly and has spent countless hours on all the projects we discussed. She even goes further by making the projects look beautiful. She went above and beyond her outlined project by seeding and applying burlap to the berming to keep rain from causing erosion. She researched waterproofing products and selected a coating that was superior to the paint she had originally intended to use, not changing the price of the bottom line.

The tiles I was using were not regular porcelain tiles; they were slate rock tiles, so they were irregular in shape and size. I did not realize the skill needed to install said tiles when buying them. Dan was able  to pull up the tiles I had already laid and install the floor in a very reasonable time for a very very fair price. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the outcome and price. Great people to do business with and just overall great people.
