Personnel from Pool Pros came and uncovered the pool on 23 Apr 15. Then I had to wait two days to fill the pool to an appropriate level for the remaining work in "opening the pool for the season" to occur. (This was due to drought conditions in our area and the city limits on using water during certain days). When appropriate level of water was obtained I was to call them back so they could finish. I called them back three days later and they were supposed to come out and finish opening it (i.e. clean it, place proper chemicals etc in it - just prepare it for swimming!) They never came. I called back again and was told they came out and did the work. I told the clerk they did not come out - the pool was still filthy and no chemicals had been put into the water. The clerk said she would make sure they came out. They never came out - even after several phone calls. I finally had to put my robotic cleaner into the pool to clean it and buy all the chemicals etc and open it myself. Then they sent the bill for services - which I ignored. Then they sent several more bill for the service - finally a lawyer sent me a letter and needless to say I ended up paying the bill even though they did absolutely nothing except take the cover off.
Description of Work: Pool Pros was supposed to "open" my swimming pool for the season.

They came and removed the cover...managing to dump all of the debris that was on the cover back into the pool, started the pump and threw 5 chlorine tablets into the skimmer. That was it. No cleaning or vaccuuming...they left the debris in the bottom of the deep end and they managed to tear a hole in the liner by losing one of the rubber feet on the back of one of the ladders. So overall we paid $300 for someone to pull off the cover, turn on the pump and put 5 tablets of chlorine in the skimmer. After repeated calls to their office...and repeated offers from them to "make it right", nothing was ever done to remedy the situation. We finally had to do the work ourselves.
Description of Work: Paid these guys $300 to open our pool. They were supposed to remove our cover, vaccuum and clean the pool, add the appropriate amount of chlorine and start the pump.

They wound up coming to the house on two occaisions. On the first visit they removed the cover, turned on the pump and put chlorine in the skimmer (5 tablets). They told us they would be back in a couple of days to finish the job when the water cleared up. Amost 4 days later they returned and did nothing. The water was still cloudy and in the shallow end there was a layer of dead algae and dirt that they didn't vaccuum. We tried to contact them the afternoon of the second visit and couldn't get anyone on the phone. This was right at the start of the Memorial Day weekend. We finally got someone on the phone that Saturday and were told that all of the technicians were gone for the weekend...so we went out, bought more chemicals and finished cleaning the pool ourselves. After we cleared the water up we discovered that they had basically dumped all of the leaves and debris from our cover back into the pool so we had to clean all of that up as well as vaccuum the liner. They also managed to install one of the pool ladders without the rubber bumper so that it rubbed a hole into the liner that we had to repair as well. Over the next two weeks we contacted them no less than five times and were told each time by the manger that they "would make it right". They never did. Then the owner was supposed to call us but he never did either. Finally they just stopped returning our calls and not answering their phone when they saw our number on the caller id. So for $300 we got our cover removed and some chlorine tablets...that was it. if you're needing pool work done in the Lawton area and you hire these guys, be prepared for big time disappointment. They are the worst of the worst.
Description of Work: We received an estimate of $300 to remove our pool cover, add the required chemicals (they provide) and vaccuum the liner. Basically the pool was to be ready to swim in after they completed the work.

Response from Pool Pros
This is the first year our company had serviced this pool. From what we were told, the homeowner is an elderly man and his daughter was trying to get the property ready to be put on the marker for sale. It was in pretty bad shape after sitting for the winter. The tarp covering the pool was worn and there were not enough water bags to hold the cover on the pool completely, therefore, combined with the weight of the leaves/debris and lack of maintenance during the winter, the cover was partially sunken into the pool. When we attempted to remove the cover, it split and the debris fell into the pool. We spent 2 hours vacuuming and dipping the pool, then we treated the pool with 1 bottle of backup (algaecide) and 8 lbs of Burn Out Extreme (granular calcium hypochlorite). The equipment was in need of maintenance as well, but we did manage to get the pool running. We told the daughter to call the office back in a couple of days after the water had somewhat cleared up (so that we could see into the water better) and that we would come back and vacuum and treat the pool again. (Most pools, after being closed for the winter, require at least 2-3 cleanings, or more, to be usable.) When we returned the second time, the water was still a little hazy but we vacuumed the pool and treated it with chemicals a second time (4 lbs of granular calcium hypochlorite). We still could not see the bottom of the pool completely but we felt confident that at least 90% of the debris was out of the pool at that time. Days later, they called to complain and wanted a partial refund. The invoice for the first trip, dated 5/16/11 came to a total of $299.23, which they paid 4 days after my second trip on 5/27/11. The invoice for the second trip, dated 5/23/11 came to a total of $98.51. When the customer called and expressed that they were unhappy with our services, we told them we would not charged them for the second trip, even though we had 4 hours of labor and chemicals invested in their pools. We feel that foregoing our 2nd invoice of $98.51 is an adequate compromise. To address the comment about the ladder – our technicians will not install a ladder in a vinyl-liner pool without making sure the bumpers are on the ladder. They know of the risk of causing damage. Our company opens/maintains 350-400 pools every year, and we always try to achieve and maintain customer satisfaction. Pools require DAILY maintenance on the part of the homeowner, whether it be in the winter (cleaning debris from the cover and from around the pool) or the summer (vacuuming/brushing, removing debris, treating the water with chemicals, and paying attention to the equipment to make sure it is operating correctly) We are attaching a picture of the pool as it looks now.
