ABC CONTRACTING

Of all the fencing companies I have used in Lawton in the past 2 decades, ABC Contracting is the best and the most professional. Everybody showed up at the scheduled times, whether for the estimate or the job itself. Everything was done exactly as promised and in the promised time frame, and as usual they did the best job.They even replaced for free 2 broken pickets! (one was broken by PSO who never repaired it...). I read that some customers complained about them not answering their phone, but it is common that contractors are not always available to answer our calls: big contracting companies who can afford a full time receptionist usually make us consumers pay for such expenses and rip us off, so I prefer to use email and Mike was answering my emails within minutes! I never had any problem reaching him. Mike and his team were not only very competent and did a beautiful job as usual, but they were courteous and friendly. I feel that we are very lucky to have this level of professionalism available in Lawton.

I thought I was dealing with ABC. At least that's who I thought came to do the estimate and who I signed the contract for the work with. They were always late and did not show up the days they said they would be here. The work was done by one person only. He didn't stay all day, he only worked a few hours each time he was here. My boyfriend and I ended up cleaning up the yard of all of the scraps although I did ask them to save some of the longer strips. But my boyfriend and I had to put them in the shed and they should have done that. I had to keep calling them again to find out when they will come back. Then ABC did not pay the glass company who called me several months after I paid ABC in full and said if they don't get the money from me, they were getting ready to put a lien on my property. I again called ABC several times to get that straightened out. I guess they must have paid the glass company since I never heard from them again. ABC just kept giving the excuse that they had other bills to pay first. The man did good work when he was here. The price was probably fair if they had done the work in a timely manner and if they would have paid off the window subcontractor in a timely manner. I spent a lot of time off work waiting for the one worker to show up -- I feel like he only wanted to work parttime and I was interfering in his life. Whenever I called ABC to ask when someone would be over here, he always gave the excuse that there was so much work and his guys are all busy. ABC only answered the phone -- sometimes. Sometimes he didn't return my call for days at a time. They didn't even do any of the work. I question the legitimacy of the business at all. This was a very frustrating experience and I hope this review would save someone else from contracting with ABC. I've wanted to review ABC for a year and just never got around to it. Thanks "Angie's List" for sending me a reminder email. I just wish before I signed the contract that I had remembered to check ABC Contracting on Angie's List because I found out that one other person had rated them an "F".

Fence and shed were installed with no problem. Crew returned some weeks later to repair my and my neighbors side gate which were warped and falling apart. Other deficiencies including unattached and split boards and cutting the bottom of my gates to ease opening and closing were pointed out but not repaired. Also, my neighbor and I paid over $1300 for staining that has yet to be done. The fence was installed mid-April and it is now mid-June. I, and my neighbor, have left repeated messages with Mike Overstreet and his office but have have not received any callbacks. ABC contracting received scathing reviews on yahoo.com three years ago for the very same practices and it appears they are up to their same old operating procedures. Follow-up and customer service are abysmal. Since they have taken my and my neighbors money for a service not yet rendered (over 60 days) and practice avoidance like a science, their actions can be construed as bordering on criminal. Recommend that no-one use this company. Go out of town if necessary but avoid ABC Contracting.
