Description of Work: Custom Carpets & Tile were hired to install granite tile in the bathrooms of our new home. This includes floor and around whirlpool tub and custom shower. Shortly after moving into our home, we noticed small amounts of water in the floor after a long shower, but it wasn't often or bad. We called Custom Carpets and had them take a look at the problem. They came out and applied some missing grout around the door and said the problem was solved. However the leaks continued to be seen. In 2010, the leaks were much worse. We noticed the carpet was wet in the corner of our bedroom behind some furniture. After moving furniture and pulling up carpet, we discovered the water was coming from the bathroom wall. After tearing back a small portion of granite, we discovered a nightmare. Most of the wood under the tub and up the wall had rotted from a continuous leak from the shower. The water was going under the tub so it wasn't seen. We had Custom Carpets come out to look at the issue. They wouldn't take responsibility for the poor workmanship, but agreed to fix the problem at a discounted price. We had to completely tear out the tub and shower, replace 2x4's in the wall and all sheet rock. After the walls were replaced, the tub deck was rebuilt and installed, Custom Carpets came back to replace all of the granite. It took them a week of labor, to due a 2-3 day job. The smoked in our house, even after I requested that they not. I spent over $8,000 in labor and materials to fix the issue and get the bathroom usable again... Now, in 2012, the leaks have returned. I just had a different tile man look at the problem and he showed me where grout is missing and some places in corners where it didn't ever exist. Hopefully I caught it before I have to replace everything, but it did get into a wall and sheet rock, trim, and paint will have to be replaced again.

Response from CUSTOM CARPETS
We just now set up an Angie's List account so we just saw this post, please forgive us for not replying when this was written: First of all, included in your comment should have been that your home shifted bad enough that we had to repair most of the laminate that we installed which was not mentioned & should have been. We repaired several places where your foundation shifted & floor moved causing the laminate to separate and the shower stall and tub surround. When floors move grout & tile crack and things leak. We are not a foundation company but we came back and repaired damage that was not caused by us and we pointed that out to you at the time. We also used Red Guard over every inch of your tub surround, shower, floors and walls which is guaranteed by the maker of Red Guard not to leak. You saw us do that. We are a flooring sales company and this review might have been more appropriately placed under the name of the subcontractor although we as the product salespeople ourselves came and made it right. You may want to update your review. Thank you.
