GREEN COUNTRY CONSTRUCTION

Upon advice of the manufacturer, I talked to Mr. Goody about moving a 15 x 20 single car enclosed insulated garage at our lake house. He misunderstood and thought I had said carport. We have always called it "the garage" and never the carport, so this is not likely a mistake I would have made, though I believe it was an assumption he made, but never admitted. He quoted me $595. I gave him the address and he said he would come by and take a look. Apparently he tried to do so, but could not find the house and didn't call me, so he never took a look. He would not put in the gravel base. It took me two weeks to get the base installed, and I left a voicemail informing him of my progress and the approximate date it would be ready for him to move, but he didn't return my call. I got the foundation installed, and coincidentally he called the same day asking if I still wanted the structure moved. I said I did, and he could start tomorrow, and gave him my mother's number to coordinate a time. He then discovered from my mother (who lives in the lake house) that it was a garage, not a carport. He then called me and asked a bunch of additional questions that I had to call my mother to answer (how many doors, windows, insulation, etc.). He called me back with a price five times higher ($2910). This approximates the cost of a new garage from the same company. I suggested that an inspection as he had promised to make would have avoided the problem. He said he wasn't blaming anyone. I stated that with a price five time the first quote, it looked as though I was bearing the blame. I asked him when he could get to it. He had been ready to start today, but now it became a long involved story about this, that, and the other. I told him I wasn't interested in the details of his life, tell me when he would make a commitment to start and finish. At that point he decided he was no longer interested in the job and hung up.
