Jerry Beckenhauer was sent to my residence by Aspen Contracting, to make repairs on extensive interior damage caused by that companies incompetence. He arrived approximately two weeks after notice was given as to the damage. When Jerry arrived at my residence, I showed him everything that had been damaged by the faulty roof. Jerry agreed to everything I showed him and even pointed out that the gutters were put up wrong and needed to be re-done. This first impression did not last however. I explained to Jerry that we would have to work out a schedule between him and my wife and I, to do the repairs. This seemed fine to him, and he related he would be staying at a local hotel. The first couple times, he showed up when expected. Then the schedule started to sway. His start times got later and later, and he never worked Fridays or Mondays. I didn't really mind at first because I was not being charged for the service, as these were repairs caused by Aspen. When Jerry got about halfway done my living room ceiling, he said he was going to stop there, and just match the rest of the ceiling that did not have water damage. This would have posed a problem for me however, as the ceiling was a different material than Jerry was installing. I explained to him that the reason he was replacing my ceiling was from damage caused by Aspen. If I were to replace this ceiling, I would do it correctly which would mean doing the whole thing the same way. It was not MY fault the ceiling needed replacing. Jerry reluctantly agreed and ended up doing the entire ceiling. This must have been the reason the job ended up being sub standard. It's obvious if you look at my ceiling that it was a rush job. There are cracks all along the ceiling, groove marks quite visible where the spackling was put on, and paint drips throughout the room. I've never known a painter that didn't do at least SOME sanding after spackling, but Jerry did none at all. Jerry would disappear days at a time and sometimes go an entire week without calling or making any contact at all. Although Jerry initially related that he had total control over the work being done to my house, he started to say he had to wait for payment approval for different parts of the job. This caused more delays and hardships for my family. While the work was slowly getting completed, I made a suggestion to Jerry about my ceiling on my front porch that also had damage from the faulty roof. I asked Jerry since he was putting up drywall anyway, if I could take down the damaged tiles to make sure there wasn't damage underneath that was not visible. Jerry said that would be fine. I found it a little odd though that he didn't suggest this as other parts of my house had hidden damage, including black mold behind the walls. Again, I figured since Aspen was paying him and not me I would over look these minor situations. Things started to get strange when all I would get from Jerry would be a phone call about every week or so telling me he was still waiting on word from Aspen about approving the rest of the work. Again, this was something in the beginning he said he had full control of. The last message I received from Jerry, was him telling me a gutter company was coming in to replace my gutters. To this day I still have heard nothing from a gutter company. Jerry also told me that Aspen would be paying for a dumpster that was needed for the debris caused from cleaning up the mess caused by Aspen. This never happened. We also had to move our belongings to a storage facility to make room for the repairs that were taking several months to complete. This was also promised to be taken care of which did not happen. After not hearing from Jerry for a couple weeks, we contacted Aspen Contracting to try and find out what happened. Aspen related that Jerry was finished and was not coming back. This was shocking, as the work was far from finished. We were told by Aspen that Jerry told them I was trying to get more out of them than was required. This was upsetting as when Jerry first walked through our house, he acknowledged ALL of the damage caused by the faulty roof. We should have known from the beginning that ANYONE that Aspen sent to help would have been just as bad as they were at repairs. Now not only was the work not completed, work that was done needs to be re-done. Just like the poor job Aspen did on my roof, Jerry did poor work to my interior. We were NEVER told by Jerry that he wouldn't be coming back, and had no reason to believe he wouldn't as tools materials and trash were all left behind. Several promises that were made, including having a cleaning service come in to clean up after his messy work went unfulfilled. My house is still in shambles. I don't know why or at what point Jerry changed his mind about the repairs to my house, but I have voicemail from him acknowledging the repairs needed. Not only is Jerry not a professional, but he is now lying for a company that caused my family much stress. On top of all of the lying, lateness, and flat out not showing up, Jerry's work leaves much to be desired. It's almost like my house was his first job, and he has no experience in this field at all. If you hear the name Jerry Bechenhauer or Christian Handymen, I suggest you run as fast as you can in the other direction.
