Description of Work: We went to U Build it to remodel our home because they advertise that by using their construction consultation services, you will save money and gain instant equity in your home with your project. It was all a huge mistake. We have been remodeling our home for 5 months now, we are grossly over budget and have not changed anything on our original plans. We were duped! This company should be called " Bait and Switch", because that is exactly what happened to us. After we paid $11,500.00 we were given a spreadsheet of "estimated costs" of our project which were grossly inadequate. The first stage of the project which involved the concrete work, was extremely poor, and the price tripled from the original bid. Bob Broderick of U Build It would not assist us in rectifying the issues. We did not receive accurate bids for the projects, and have already been through two different "consultants" because they have been fired. When we were informed that consultant #3 was being assigned to us, we asked to be released from our contract. The owner Bob Broderick not only refused, but threatened to "throw a dirty lien" on our house. This company basically tells you that you can do your project for the budget that you have in mind, and as soon as you sign the contract, all bets are off. You do not see the actual bids until you have actually paid U Build It, and by then your house is probably demolished and you are left to trying to figure out what your going to do with a budget that has tripled. There was no consultating going on here except to make sure the project was rapidly started before the true costs began to trickly in. There is no doubt this company has fraudulently represented themselves.
