I went to Mike at Silex after first going to Home Depot in OKC off Reno. What a NIGHTMARE experience that was! When I got to Silex, Mike immediately made me his #1 priority was very nice, honest and listened to what I needed. I have zero knowledge of how granite works, or measurements. I gave mike a design of my kitchen and took it from there. He told me what I needed, and showed me what my options were. I had walked in, chose my slab and options and scheduled the installation in less than 10 minutes. This place is the only place to get granite, or your kitchen needs they wont do you wrong.
Description of Work: Ordered granite slab, undermount sink and had them install it in my new kitchen.

We were excited to find beautiful granite at very reasonable prices. When we ordered it, we were told they would come out and do a template to make sure they cut the granite right. They rescheduled a couple of times. They did finally come out but did a length x width diagram - NOT a template. This is a 105 year old house, the kitchen had been two rooms and we had removed a wall - nothing is level, plumb, or straight in this whole house - plus there were support studs where the wall had been removed. So - even after I pointed to the studs and explained that wall in the newer part angled slightly - all they did was a length x width diagram. The only reason we realized they didn't do a template was when they called to reschedule AGAIN and asked where we wanted the seam. We said "at the bump-out" meaning where the support studs were. The guys said, "What bump-out?" So they scheduled another appointement to do the real template. The day before it was to be installed, they called and said they had dropped the slab and broke it. They would reorder the granite and call me to look at it and make sure it was what we wanted. Today they called back and said they'd tried to order the new slab (to replace the one THEY broke) but the distributer was going to charge them more because it was a small order. So our options was to pay $15 per foot more or get our deposit back. Of course we asked for our deposit back. What a goat show.
Description of Work: They did a template of our kitchen in order to install new granite countertops.

PLEASE DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY! Someone recommended this company to me. Unfortunately, I did not do a fact based investigation before contracting with this company. My horror story went similar to the ones in previous reviews, but let me describe mine. 1. Contractor broke the water drainage pipe under the sink in the masterbathroom while removing the old countertop. He blamed it on my ex-husband, stating "he bumped into me". My ex-was no where in the vacinity. The contractor provided further damage by removing the countertop in the guest bathroom (we did not pay to have this countertop replaced). During this removal the water valves began leaking. He decided to leave the premises and allowing water to leak all over the bathroom floor. 2. Silex bought in two other contractors whose workmanship was very poor. Uneven cutting of granite against the backsplashes, leaving wide gaps between the wall and granite in some areas. Uneven matching of granite, granite ash left on countertops, exterior and interior surfaces of cabinets. 3. First of all you would think the production manager would come out and evaluate the job during and after completion, NOPE, haven't seen the guy. We have made many attempts to resolve the matter with the Edmond and Tulsa facilities, and guess what? We have only received lip service from both facilities. So, we are left with a plumbing bill, cleaning service bill, and a bill to fix the granite. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and plan on legal action when time permits, I pray this company provide the OKC and surrounding areas a blessing by getting out of the business.

Overall we had a good experience with this company. They gave us a competitive bid that ended up being much less than what we expected to pay. We appreciated the fact that the man drawing up the bid even even told us where to go online to order a sink for less than he could sell it to us. He even gave us part of a granite backs plash for no charge. The only problem we had with the service was that they moved back the installation date a couple of different times. Perhaps this is just the nature of the business. It can be difficult to know how long jobs will take. However, when I consider the price that we paid and the quality of the work, I feel the inconvenience was worth it. This company seemed pretty busy. This made me more comfortable paying 50% up front.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They stood me up several times including the install date. Installation was sloppy at best. They forgot one piece in the kitchen.. Installed broken pieces in the bathroom with the marble and tried to hide it. Did no finish work around the edges betwee the wall and counter or under the counters. I had to have someone come in and tile where they didn't finish, caulk all the unfinished edges. In the one bath with the broken marble they tore the wallpaper in several places and put a hole in the wall. To make matters worse they sent me a bill for the total due. The first half was paid at purchase date.

My wife and I used Silex on the recommendation of a friend who knew one of their sales people, and because they had a really great price. Unfortunately you get what you pay for. The sales staff was friendly and helpful in the beginning. They got everything ordered and scheduled quickly prior to turning us over to the production staff. On the day of the install the installers were over 4 hours late, and didn't bring one of the vanities with them. They also forgot their caulk gun and had to borrow mine to install the sinks. When they installed the kitchen countertop the seam was 1/2 inch higher than the rest of the countertop causing a waving effect. I asked them to fix it, and they did, but cracked the granite in the process. They tried to just seal and buff thecrack in the granite at first, but then agreed to replace it. The piece they replaced the broken granite with was not cut right and left the front of my cabinets exposed in one area. They said it was just a little bit off and were prepared to leave it, but after I insisted they fix it they came back out that night with another piece that was big enough to cover. The only problem this time is that the piece was too big and they cut a hole in my wall to make it fit. That weekend after all of the sinks were plumbed, one of the bowls fell out of our vanity followed by our kitchen sink. I asked at this point if they would just come get their countertops and refund my money. Mike, their production manager talked us into letting him come out and personally fix the sinks. He fixed the sinks, but got clear caulk all over the front of our new cabinets, and put the kitchen sink in crooked. I tried to have the countertops removed again after this but was told that they would still require me to pay for them. When I was finally able to speak with their president, Eric, I was treated as though I was in the wrong and had messed up his house. The customer service here was absolutely horrible and now I am stuck with poor quality work and a lot of wasted time.
