I called Plumb Genius to fix a natural gas leak between the gas meter and the house. A tech was sent out who sprayed a few pipes and turned a valve and said the leak was fixed and charged the person I had at the house $278.25 and left. I called the office and asked how they found the leak when they did not have gas in the lines and did not pressure test the lines. They told me it was fixed and to call ONG. I called ONG and still had a leak and had to call Edmond Heat & Air who came out and properly tested the lines with a pressure test and located the actual leak. DO NOT USE Plumb Genius, they are very rude, did not fix the issue and wanted more money to send another tech to do the correct testing to locate the leak that they were hired to find. Look at all of the reviews before hiring this company, I failed to do that because I was in a hurry.

"What services did they perform" is an interesting question to ask and leads me into my horrible experience with this company. I answered that question with "Repair Pipe" but they quite literally did the opposite. Plumb Genius was called to repair a gas leak at my house from American Home Shield. The first appointment available was 5 days after I requested service. The plumber pulls up to my house (fully equipped with the knowledge that the gas was turned off by ONG, as it could have killed my family living in a house for 5 days with active gas leaking) and he stated that I was going to have to pay $375 for an air pressure test to find the leak as it was not going to be covered by American Home Shield. I scheduled another appointment with Plumb Genius, their earliest appointment was 6 days after the first (where the technician was paid a $125 service fee for absolutely 0 work done. Never even stepped foot inside). They come to my property for the 2nd time to run the test that I was paying out of pocket for. They arrived at my home at 2:30 and were there until 7pm. Their claim to me was that they had found 2 leaks but there was a 3rd that they could not locate. They swore up and down that the only spot it could be was in the fireplace and they needed a special tool to get to the leak in the fireplace. (It was late and they wanted to go home. There is no special tool required to move gas logs and look for a leak). Myself and the home warranty company demanded to them that they needed to come out the next morning to repair as it had been 12 full days with no hot water, cooking, laundry, dishwasher, heat. They called me to make the appointment and stated that "American Home Shield denied the claim to fix the 3rd leak and it was going to be $575 out of pocket, and $275 to open each valve that they closed." They never once mentioned that closing the valve (to keep the regulator safe) would result in a $275 fee to open again, times 2! The total was going to be $1250 out of pocket on top of the $375 Air Pressure test and $125 service fee. This is absolutely absurd. I cancelled their appointment and had an actually reputable plumber come to my house. Come to find out, the air pressure test is covered by the home warranty and they charged me to shut a valve and for a permit. They lied about what the $375 fee was for so that the customer would pay it and not know what they were talking about. Within the first 10 minutes of him being there, he found the gas leak. The leak was where Plumb Genius had claimed to completely repair it! They lied about the repair so that the air pressure test would show there was still an active leak, so that American Home Shield would deny the claim, and they would get $1250 out of my pocket. This is illegal, unethical, and disgusting. I have filed an FTC fraud complaint, BBB complaints, and I have filed a police report. There have been multiple lawsuits against Plumb Genius, check OSCN for more information on those. This is clearly a common reoccurrence with their company and I couldn't say a single good thing about them. Read the hundreds of reviews on Google, Yelp, BBB, Facebook groups, and so on. I have images and proof from others, including ONG, that they lied about making repairs to squeeze money out of this job. I am appalled, disgusted, and I hope that the police investigate this company to their full ability and find that they are stealing from customers.

The men showed up. They were both dirty, reeked of cigarettes, and didn't seem to know much. They attempted to find a clean out to snake our sewer, but could not locate one. Due to the age of the house, I suggested that perhaps the cleanout was in the crawlspace. They dismissed that and wouldn't even look. They didn't come up with any alternative to installing a cleanout, such as pulling a toilet and running the snake through there to get us by until we could afford the cleanout. Didn't want to run through the vent, anything. They went out to their truck to call warranty company and come up with estimate. They told me it would be a grand, not including running a camera through the line for another $300. We received an invoice for the deductible plus another $85! For sitting in their truck? I had.to go out to them, they didn't come back to my house.
Description of Work: Main sewer line was clogged. Older home, and water backed up into bathtubs. Line obviously needs snaked. This work was coordinated through our warranty company, AHS.

Description of Work: Called because of a stoppage in the plumbing in our guest bathroom. We were assigned this company by our home warranty company. The tech didn't even let me finish explaining the problem to him before he claimed he knew exactly what was wrong and that it would require busting into the slab to fix, totaling work over $2,000. He didn't even inspect it or try to unclog it until I asked him to, and even then he only spent about 5 minutes doing any kind of work. I called a friend who gave me the number of a plumber who was able to free the stoppage with a snake. It cost me $200. Not only did Plumb Genius not work to find an easier solution to the problem, but they then double-charged my credit card for the home warranty fee and took over three weeks and multiple phone calls to finally refund it.

Our home warranty had Plumb Genius come out to fix our garbage disposal and the guy replaced the garbage disposal and when he left we started to have leaks through the pipes under the sink. Someone came back out and said that we would have to replace the whole pipes under the kitchen sink and it would cost us $300-$400!! He then said he would come out 5 days later to fix everything. We called our home warranty and complained and had someone else come out. Little did we know, the pipes were not even put in correctly, the garbage disposal was not put in right. So this man fixed everything the way it was supposed to be fixed and it did not cost us out of pocket money. I will say that this company needs to be placed out of business. This place is shady.

I did not have a choice in selection of vendor. My home owner's warranty sent the work order to Plumb Genius. One guy came out and spent maybe 20 to 25 minutes and told me the drain was unclogged. He gave some suggestions for clearing a drain trap I had in the tub. Next day when I went to use the shower/tub, it was still slow draining - not as bad but still not as it should be draining. So I had to call the warranty company AGAIN and get the approval to send them back out. I ask that they send a different guy this time, since the first one obviously didn't know what a clear running drain should look like. They sent two guys with a snake this time. They took about 45 minutes and I thought they were going to tear my house down with all the noise. I did not go into the bathroom to see what they were doing. Anyway, one of them called me to the bathroom and said the drain was clear and showed me how the water was running. Later when I went back in the bathroom I noticed that my throw rug was damaged. The cloth was worn down to the rubber and a whole bunch of the threading had been unraveled and it was bare! I could not believe they left the movable rug in the middle of the floor while they were using an electric snake! The part that really makes me mad is they snuck out and never mentioned it. The thread from the rug was in the trash can so they knew what they did. I called Plumb Genius immediately to complain and tell them what happened. Amy asked me thanked me for calling and telling her and asked what they could do. I told them I wanted them to replace the rug. She said, "Ok, to give her a call when I decided on a rug." I called her the next day to tell her what I was planning. Someone else answered. I told that girl what happened and that I was calling Amy back as directed to find out how to go about purchasing a replacement rug. She promised she would give her the message. I never heard back. I mailed the portion of the rug that was damaged along with a receipt for $29 for the replacement rug. I have yet to see any money for my loss and no one has called me. Now I'm having a problem with a leak behind the wall where the tub plumbing is. I wouldn't be surprised if it was additional damage they did trying to unclog the drain. I called the warranty company back to get another plumber. I told them what happened with Plumb Genius and asked if they could give me another option. They offered Tomahawk Plumbing, who by the way IMMEDIATELY called me when they got the work order! Plumb Genius never called me when they got the work order either time. I had to call them. When Tomahawk Plumbing came out and took the back panel off behind my tub, the service guy said, "Oh my, who did this?" The Plumb Genius service guys had gotten the electric snake cable stuck in the drain pipe. They cut off the other end of the cable and left the stuck end in my drain pipe! They left the drain from the tub and the drain pipe disconnected so when I used my tub two days later, the water that drained from the tub spilled over under the tub onto the slab and then overflowed into the carpet in that closet behind the tub. I just happened to discover it because I had taken two baths in one day and there was a lot of water that had drained. That Plumb Genius service man stood there and told me he had taken care of the drain problem, all the while knowing he was lying and that he had just covered up his mess!!! The guy from Tomahawk Plumbing told me the repair is likely going to be between $700 to $2,000 depending on how much of the slab they have to jackhammer up!! I have been fighting between Plumb Genius and the warranty company just to get someone out here to tell me what they plan on doing about the situation. Plumb Genius has not contacted me even though they promised the warranty company they would. The warranty company had to patch them in on a conference call to make them talk to me. The representative I talked to at Plumb Genius was just hateful with me acting like I was the one who had done something wrong! DO NOT, DO NOT, DO NOT LET THIS CONTRACTOR IN YOUR HOME!!!

Problem occurred Friday afternoon, 25 Oct 13 We had a blockage problem somewhere. The toilet in the hallway bathroom was draining very slow, if at all, and if you flushed that toilet you could hear it gurgle in the tube drain right next to the toilet. But more seriously, if you used just a little too much water (like run the dishwasher or take a shower or bathe the grandbabies) the water would overflow all over the garage floor from the uncapped cleanout drain in the hot water closet. ( I know that's not healthy). I went to the American Home Shield website and opened up a service request. The website quickly opened up a workorder with Plumb Genius. I then called the number for Plumb Genius and the gal was very courteous but said they couldn't get a tech out till Monday afternoon. I do have to say that she called me back later in the evening and said that a tech by the name of Skyler would come out to the house Sunday afternoon between 2 and 5. I said really? A plumber working on a Sunday afternoon? But she assured me that when her company was overbooked that they did work on Sundays. (Red flag #1) Well - as you can guess -I waited all Sunday afternoon for that dang plumber to show - even took the grandbabies home early so we could be ready when the much needed tech was supposed to come out. But alas, no call, no show. After looking over Angie's list this evening I've chosen an "A" list plumber, Mr Rooter to come out to do the job. Called them this evening and got a live person (answering service). He said they open at 6 AM and they're supposed to call me in the morning to schedule a tech to come out. Hopefully this one will work out better. Note - Had I trusted my instinct when I looked on Angie's LIst this weekend and found Plumb Genius to be rated as a "D" (Red flag #2) I probably wouldn't be having this problem but...I've had AHS for 7 years now and for the first few years they were very good. But....the quality of the service techs has gone down and down over the past two years and this last issue is causing me to rethink the wisdom of having AHS. Unfortunately I couldn't find AHS on the Angie's List website so I don't know how they compare. Anyway, it's now 8:10 PM on Sunday evening, (I'm missing the Packers vs Vikings game to write this), I haven't had a shower or a shave in 3 days, and I'm letting my opinion be known via my first ever post on Angie's List. Hope I can help someone else out when I say - don't use Plumb Genius.

Where to begin. We had a situation where our kitchen sink had been snaked and kept clogging so we had this company out and they suggested we needed the whole main from our house to the city main replaced. kind of a shock but that wasnt the problem. The real problem began on the day they were supposed to begin. They took down our fence (we have two active dogs) to accomodate a backhoe, the guy worked at digging the hole for a couple of hours then left, stating he had to "get a part". He didnt come back for 3 DAYS, leaving our fence wide open and our back yard half destroyed. I called the company to complain and was told that work hadn't been completed because we didn't sign their contract. Why then, I asked was it ok to rip down our fence and start digging? Their receptionist was increasingly rude to me and accusing me of being a liar. They did eventually finish the work but needless to say, I cannot recommend them to anyone.

This company should never be used by anybody because they lie to you. They came out and cut a whole in our wall and never came back when they said they would. He was suppose to come back with a part and fix it. He never did. The 2nd plumber came out and said he couldn't come out until tomorrow. They still have not come out to finish the job. When we called him the next day he sounded like he was still asleep. He was suppose to come out at 7:30 when the parts place opens. We then called the receptionist and she said the store wasn't suppose to open until 8:30. There is a total lack of communication and tons of lying to their customers. They don't do what they say they are going to.

Response from Plumb Genius
Member I would like to take this time to apologize for what had happened at your home my name is Tony Crofford and I am the owner and the person who came out to your house after one of my techs told you they were ordering a part for your tub. When I came out I had adjusted your handle on the tub so it would close properly. At the time I left there were no other issues and you were happy with what we had done. Please if you have any complaints about your service I would like to help you anyway I can please call my office and ask for me directly.

.They have the American Home Shield. We used them one other time and they were really really good. They had to go to the real estate office to get the keys to the house and they were not upset about that. He showed up on time. It just ended up costing us more money because the toilet was taken out we should have just left it in. But he really did a good job. He was professional, nice and friendly.
