Thank you for visiting with us here on Home Advisor as we have been on board since 2016 receiving leads they generate for us in exchange for our financial compensation of their services. It has been to our benefit financially as we have received many projects as a result of their lead generating services. We are a small business striving for more consistent work flow so we do our best to achieve good to excellent workmanship along with a high ethic of customer service to all our clients. It is unfortunate we have received 2 unfavorable reviews and we hope Home Advisor can help with resolving these issues. Our disputes have been overlooked so far, but I'll be happy to visit with any prospective clients regarding those reviews as many know there is more than just one side to the coin and I would rather resolve these issues behind the scenes instead of posting arguments in our defense through this review forum and just make it a "he said, she said" tacky online dispute with no resolution.
We've been so impressed with James Garcia's craftsmanship and work ethic. He refinished our kitchen & master bath two years ago, and just completed a clean sweep of every door, cabinet, window sill, wood trim and baseboard in the house. Our house is 30 years old, but the woodwork looks brand new. James is polite and professional, and the pricing is fair. Highly recommended.

Not your typical refinishing method, as they hand apply multiple coats of finish using microfiber cloths, speed drying them in between coats with heat. James was very professional and thorough in explaining his process. Using this method, you don't have to remove everything from your cabinets like you must with spraying. He didn't arrive in a fancy truck with logo--just a sedan with all his materials in the trunk. His drop cloths had clearly been used and reused, but they did the job. Do not be deterred --this may account for the very reasonable price quoted. James worked diligently to remove kitchen grease, lightly sand bad spots, and touch up areas where the stain and finish had worn away. He was polite and courteous throughout, and with the help of a second refinisher on day two, completed the project a couple hours short of two days. He gave me an opportunity to inspect the work before leaving, and also offered to return for additional touch up if needed. Although they will remove and replace your hardware, we waited 48 hours before replacing it ourselves, to ensure proper curing of the finish. It had been 15 years since we put in those cabinets, and James restored them to look like new. We can't really review the finish itself yet, but there is a 5-year warranty. We are overall quite pleased with this company.

This man is not a professional painter. He hired untrained people that did not khow to paint and sat and watched them. When I asked about removing light fixture. ceiling fan covers, switch plates, and plug covers, he showed me a small brush that he would be using to paint around these items. He did not follow the agreed time schedule. I removed the kitchen cabinets from the list to help him finish on time because I had a tenant waiting to move into the house. On the fourth day of him and four other men painting the walls, ceiling and trim of a small (847 square foot) three house; I told him to get his equipment and people out by 7 PM of the next day. He left the corners between ceiling and walls unpainted. I had told him to use the same color on both to make it easier for him. The trim paint overlapped onto the walls. The floor company was due on Monday. I spent the weekend finishing the rooms where they were going to be installing the new floors. When the floor company finished I went back finished the walls and ceiling in the kitchen. This was totally unsatisfactory. I had to retouch walls and ceiling because there w spots were the paint did not cover. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!

We were very pleased with the work James did for Gleam Guard. He painted our kitchen cabinets and did an excellent job!. He arrived on time and worked a little late in order to get the job done as quickly as possible but never cut corners. He cleaned up after himself. I would recommend him to anyone. My cabinets are beautiful and look brand new.

James is a very poor worker. He didn't appear to take pride in his work and really didn't seem to care. I provided everything he needed to work with, including the knobs and hinges. He destroyed several hinges and now I'll need to purchase more and replace them. Additionally, his paint job is very poor quality. I'm having to do touch up work on the cabinets and cabinet doors. I was constantly cleaning up after him.
