I started out buying a home with them that was already in process of being built. They already had the roof on, so some choices I didn't have. I loved the location, which is what drew me to the home in the first place. The quality of the structure was the most important to me, so I was surprised that a radiant barrier, Tyvek, post-tension foundation and high R rating insulation in the ceiling wasn't included for the price they were asking. I found the home in time to request Tyvek to be put on it, but they forgot to put it on before they started the brick. The homes they build are bare plywood behind the brick (unless requested) which can be a breeding ground for mold and attract termites. I asked a contractor friend about the importance of Tyvek, and he said he thought some kind of wrap on the outside boards was code, so he wondered what other corners they were cutting. Also, the price per square foot is a lot higher than other places. I had a hard time getting them to listen to me. I wanted certain cabinets and told them that was very important to me before sighing the contract. They said it wouldn't be a problem, but ended up putting in what they had already planned, which was a totally different style. There were other similar instances. They had lots of complaints from neighbors about workers damaging their property, using their water, not completing work on their homes satisfactorily, and having tires flattened by nails and mud flowing in the street. I had 2 nails in my tires in the time span of the 2 months I was working with them. They do have nice amenities, but I would rather have more space, a well-built structure and people who listen to what matters me. They call themselves custom builders, but I didn't find the quality as good as some of the tract home builders. I changed over to D R Horton and have had an excellent experience!
Description of Work: I was building a home with them, but they didn't follow the contract, so I decided to go somewhere else.

Bought a house from Dodson. From the looks of it, it is a good quality build. There are a few things that stick out with this home. Stained trim and crown molding. Solid wood doors, very nice tile work. Granite counter tops, nice oil rubbed bronze plumbing fixtures throughout. Had a home inspection done and there were only minor things which needed to be fixed. The house had been a model home for a couple of years. Very Satisfied.
