BEST QUALITY ROOFING & CONSTRUCTION

We had hail producing storms late spring/early summer. A lot of damage was done, and we assumed there was roof damage. However, over 15 years ago, we had needed to replace a roof on a previous home and the whole experience was a nightmare. We had an individual take the money and never do the job then a second company that kept putting us off for almost a year. We had sworn off of ever having another roof replaced. It was awful. So when Michael Curtsinger and Jason Emory were in the area offering a free assessment of damage from the storms, I was leery. They confirmed there was hail damage and explained their process with roof replacement. I needed time to think about it and figure out how to not put ourselves in a situation like past experiences. My conclusion was that we were just going to have to trust Jason and Michael. They seemed trustworthy and honest but it's hard to ever truly know. About 7 weeks went by and I contacted them. I appreciated that they were never pushy. They came out and went over all the steps we would need to do and answered all of our questions. They set up a straightforward contract. They came to our house when the insurance adjuster was here to ensure everything was looked at and accounted for. They answered all of our questions in the meantime. They were hands on even when they didn't need to be to ensure that everything went smoothly. This was very different from previous experiences with other companies. They very quickly set up a time to come out to replace the roof. Their team was unlike anything I've ever seen! They showed up at 7 am and by 7:02, there was a team of people on our roof getting down to business. They finished the job by 4:30 and Michael and Jason were the last ones here, double checking everything was cleaned up and our expectations were met. THEY DID EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO. In a situation where there's a big expense and that expense needs to keep your family dry and safe, it can be nerve wracking. I believe the most important factor is being able to trust who you're working with. If you are hesitant, I'd like to tell you that these guys are the real deal. They are trust worthy and will do you right. They are thorough and knowledgeable. The roof looks great and we are ecstatic that this time things were different. DON’T USE THIS COMPANY!!!! DISHONEST AND WILL OVERCHARGE YOU! Dennis Steele, Best Quality Roofing, and Freylin Fuentes, Fuentes Contractor Services These companies way overcharged us! they work together on various projects. $11,700 on a 1500 sq ft home? Come on! I have family that did an 1800 sq ft home with 3 broken roof trusses and rafters plus re-decked the entire roof for $5,800! Dennis said it was because that is what insurance paid but then he took the insurance money for our gutters too so now we can’t replace them. Since it was insurance we just let it go. Dennis then had a crew come do our siding for $9,200 labor only. The foreman, Freylin Fuentes with Contractor Services LLC out of Tulsa, told the workers not to do our soffits or the windows but that was in the quote. They literally came back and added $1,200 to the original quote to add the soffits. Oh yea did you catch that, the $9,200 was LABOR ONLY. We provided ALL the materials and we let them use our tools. They also took the guys off our siding job and had them do another job so we basically weren’t important enough clients but the real kicker is Freylin Fuentes and Dennis Steele lied to us as to why the workers didn’t show up. We were told that one of the workers wife was sick but when they came back the day after they said they were called to do a large roof by Freylin and his wife was fine. She was actually at our home with them. Then Freylin gave us a quote for almost $6,000 to paint, let’s be clear, this is a small house and our 2,200 sq ft home in Southern Oklahoma didn’t cost this much. All in all, I would not recommend this company. All they are concerned about is price gouging for as much as they can take from you or your insurance company. I will say the workers were the best and we would recommend them without doing business with Dennis or Freylin. They should start their own business because they were extremely detailed and honest. The workers refused to listen to Fraylin when he told them not to do the soffits after Dennis and Freylin upcharged us $1,200 for them. Freylin also told them not to do our windows but we showed them the windows when they came to quote us and they knew about them. Nothing on the inside is finished so we have to get someone else to come finish the sheet rock inside now too. The only integrity we saw was from the workers themselves. We will be giving out their names and numbers so they can get their business going and get away from Dennis and Freylin. Issues worth mentioning: Freylin showed up once and started arguing with us about what was or wasn’t included in the quote. Additionally the city inspector came by and Dennis said it wasn’t his job he only referred it out. Then why did Dennis take a cut of the job? Dennis and Freylin did nothing on this job so why were they even involved? Oh yea money. We paid them in full because we are honest people but please don’t use this company. We are $20,900 in with Dennis and our siding isn’t painted or stained, we have old dented gutters, sheetrock that needs to be patched, and windows to frame. Oh I mean $21,060... Dennis charged us a fee to process a partial payment on a card. We also paid for the workers to be warm as they were outside working in 30 deg weather. They used our kerosene heater and we provided the fuel at a cost to us. We didn’t think it was right for these guys to be outside in snow flurries freezing so we made sure they were warm. FYI: I have family that are insurance adjusters and they said this is not one of the companies they would recommend. And yes all of this was discussed with Dennis personally and all he said was well Sorry, I can see you guys are really unhappy. You think? My husband told Dennis if he wanted to try and make it right he could do the gutters for us. Of course Dennis and Freylin don’t feel like they should do that. My husband also asked Dennis if he would pay what we paid and Dennis kept trying to dodge the question. Dennis then admitted the siding price was high. Oh really? He never shared that with us! Come do our gutters because that was included on the insurance money you took. UPDATE: The night I originally posted this review on Google Dennis reached out to my husband to have me take down the negative review. Dennis basically felt like he did everything in his power to please us but yet he didn’t do anything at all. He stood there blaming the other company he brought with him that he acted as a GC for. (If you are a GC you are responsible for anything Sub you use) He said the blame is on Freylin with Fuentes Contractor Services and not his company and now he has a bad review which he doesn’t want. He said he wished he never referred Freylin. Not once did he offer to make it right. SMH Freylin with Fuentes Contractor Services hasn’t reached out at all! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! While they may be fast they tend to be sloppy.

My experience with Best Quality Roofing and the owner Chester Ullrich is quite lengthy so for those who may not have time to read the whole thing I will sum it up in the first paragraph. The company had been paid over 75% of the insurance money but did not pay their metal roofing supplier. The metal roofing supplier placed a lien on our house for around $9000.00 because Best Quality did not pay the bill. In the end we had to pay the supplier and all remaining subcontractors directly to be sure that other subcontractors did not place a lien on our house. They said the entire job would be done in 6 weeks, in the end it took over 1 year for them to "complete" the work. In reality the work was never completed we basically paid them more money than we should have just to be done with them, pay the subcontractors and get them out of our house and our lives. For those who want the whole story, keep reading. We hired them to do the roofing and interior work on our house in McAlester, OK that had been hail damaged in May of 2011. They promised us top quality work that would include a new stamped metal roof that was in accordance with the nature of our historic house. The storm had damaged the roof which had leaked through all 3 floors and had caused major interior damage as well as on the roof. They said they would fabricate the historic finials, do all the interior repairs to sheet rock and floors, do custom mill work on the historic woodwork on the house. This was to take 6 weeks. The roofing work went ok but they didn't even start on the roof until approx. Feb 2012. They finished the roof fairly quickly but then they started the interior work which was very lengthy and a very nightmarish experience. I can't even count the times they would say they were done, we would drive in from Texas where we are currently living and the work would not be done or if it was it was done in very poor manner. We finally started referring to them among ourselves as the "liars". More than once either us or the lady that watched the house for us would come in and they had left one of the doors unlocked or even wide open. One time we found empty beer cartons in the refrigerator (we do not drink) which may explain some of the shoddy work. At least one subcontractor hit me up for money and I told him that I had just paid Best Quality a very large insurance check and that he should ask him to pay him. They promised us the moon and stars when it came to the quality of the work but they tried to just give us 3 finials for our roof when there had been 4. They finials were not fabricated exactly like the originals as promised.We hired them to remove stains off of the historic stone and they chiseled some of the stains off and left the rest permently ruining the stone. They promised us custom mill work but used Lowes over the counter trim which we insisted they replace. The floors look like a patchwork quilt because of the difference of woods used. Also they left the wood floor unfinished around the stairwell area. I told them I wanted semi-gloss paint for all the interior paint even the ceilings but I am quite sure they used the cheapest matte paint they could find. Sheet rock was left unfinished or finished in a shoddy manner. They lost a chandelier and claimed it wasn't there. This was a working B & B when we bought the house- it had all the light fixtures. They replaced a wood floor on the 2nd story but were to lazy/cheap to tear the floor out so the floor in that bedroom is approx 1-2" taller than all of the other wood floors. They left the place an entire mess, it is so dusty we have not been able to stay in it since because it will require at least a weeks worth of cleaning. They left the door open to the one bedroom that was not worked on and it is a dusty mess also. I am probably forgetting some of the stuff they did there was so much it is hard to remember it all. Hopefully what I have remembered will be sufficient for you to know this is not a good company to work with. In the end we were holding back $15,000 just to be sure the subcontractors got paid and the owner was very hateful to us because he wanted us to sign the money over to him. We held our ground and paid all outstanding subcontractors directly and paid him a negotiated balance but in the end we were not satisfied with the work and we knew he would never do the work right. We paid him more than we should just to get rid of him. I never want to have any dealings with this man again I am merely making this report to save others from having to deal with him.

We had a massive hailstorm in the spring so our 5 year old roof needed repair, as did most in our area. Best Quality gave us the best of 3 estimates. They came back twice during the project saying they would need more money. I can't recall the exact amount, but it caused trouble with our insurance company. The subcontracted crew they sent to replace our gutters came out and removed our old gutters (70% of them copper) and then skipped town. Best quality never discussed the issue of letting us recycle the copper, which in my opinion is unethical. The next crew they sent did an excellent job putting up new gutters and even made some special adjustments to keep birds out (I wish I knew that company's name). Best Quality replaced the roof in about 3 days which was good consider the size, contours and slope. They did a good job with cleanup. However after they replaced our roof we developed 2 leaks in our living room. When we called them the first time they sent someone out in a day or two (not a foreman or supervisor) and he sloppily slapped some caulking around a window casing on the floor above to no effect. The second call they came and looked it over and then left saying they would return the next day...never did. To summarize: good overall speed once the project started. Second gutter subcontractor was good. Bad side: poor or misleading estimate, first gutter crew were basically copper thieves it appears, poor follow up on leaks they caused.

Comparing the price, apples to apples, they had the best price. The work was excellent and professional. The supervisor would come out and check the work, and he would take care of anything that needed to be addressed.

THEY CHEATED ME OUT OF MONEY

They gave a good estimate and explained well the process beforehand.They knew the products well and what to recommend. Also the company is insured. They were very prompt to start the job and kept me apprised of the progress. The crew worked well and hard and did an excellent and professional job. The supervisory staff were very professional and saw to it that all work was done correctly and that all needed repairs were completed. They were careful of our property and did a great job of protecting our many plants and outside objects. They did a complete job of cleaning up. A few days after the work was completed, they inspected the work and the roof to make sure that it was ready for the weather. I am fussy and they made me pleased.

This has been a 3 year nightmare and is still not resolved.

Never received a bid so I'd say it didn't go well at all

The job went pretty well. I had a minor issue after they had done the work. They promptly came out and addressed it. The price was average. I have got a 30 year roof and I don't expect to be here that long.

Seemed to know their stuff from bid on. Very proffessional. My only complaint was that it took so long to dor the guttering which they contracted out.

The estimate was given and the roof done on the date and time I requested. Excellent service and would highly recommend then to anyone needing a new roof.

We were promised at least one person on the crew who would be able to speak English and that person supposedly had other jobs he was working on so when my wife had an issue she had to speak to someone who could not understand her and they made a call for that person to come back to the site. The satellite dish was not put back on correctly and in fact would have fallen off after the first good wind storm as the screws they put back in did not go through the decking or even the glue that was placed in the spot for them. It took several months to get a final bill and then we found it to be over $11,000 which was not at all what we were told it would be. We were not given an actual estimate, except to be told that we would only have to pay what the insurance company did not. What a shock when the total bill came in at $7900 after insurance payments. Overall we will NEVER use them again.

Good experience. Tony gave the estimate and the company set up a time for the repair. The job was done when it was on time, on budget and well done.

I hired another contractor to do my roof originally and we had the understanding that as soon as the materials were dropped at my homw the crew would start work. I have a very strict HOA. Well that contractor was twice the cost and when the materials showed up at 8pm at night the contractor showed up five minutes later to explane to me the obviouse they couldn't do what they said. I promptly fired that contractor and asked my uncle if he knew a good roofer and he said to call chester at BQR. I did so and chester quoted a labor price and started the next day. BRAVO Chester!

I would use them again.
