We hired Tile by Tony for a partial bathroom remodel and couldn't be happier with the results. We got all new tile on the floor and replaced our fiberglass shower insert with a full tile shower with a frame-less shower door. The shower is beautiful and functional. Communication was great. Everyone who worked on the project was professional and respectful and did an outstanding job. When I had to leave the house I felt comfortable with them being there alone and locking up after themselves. They covered the walkway at the beginning of the job and swept up before they left every day. All in all an excellent experience! Tony's price won't be the cheapest you'll find but it is 100% worth every penny.

Tony's crew did a great job building new kitchen cabinets and running a vent pipe to my basement, also some bathroom reno. This wasn't a large job, but Tony gave it his full attention. The people he sent out were very professional. The basement vent placement was tricky and it works well. The cabinets look great and the job was done in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Tony.

I thought that Tony did an excellent job. The shower is truly beautiful. I visited their showroom and selected a shower on display. After removing the original shower there was mold present and they treated the mold and dehumidified the walls around the shower and tub. In addition, they installed a nice exhaust fan to minimize future humidity in the shower area. They always cleaned and vacuumed the work area following each visit. Very professional organization.

I did not use them and would not consider them in the future.
Description of Work: I got a ridiculously high bid for the work needed around the house. It was more than twice the price of every other bid I received. They wanted a third of the price of the house, lol.

Response from Tile By Tony Inc
First let me say we appreciate the opportunity to quote your work. We met at your home, you walked me through the job which was by any standard extensive based on your wish lists. I generated an itemized comprehensive quote that covered kitchen cabinets, granite counter tops, tile, electrical, painting both inside and outside including 26' vaulted ceilings, trim, and cabinetry, and on and on and on. Your pie in the sky wish list was expensive. The neat thing about the estimate process is no one is forcing you to do it. it also lets you pick and choose what parts you do and even who does them. There are some time honored facts in construction 1) you get what you pay for 2) you can always find someone cheaper but see fact #1. 3) an apples to apples comparison of the scope of work with equally qualified contractors will yield comparable bids. and 4) if you focus solely on price there is no end of clowns that you can hire. These are folks that provide job security for reputable contractors like us who have to fix their shady work often a year or 2 later at twice the cost. So you gave us an "F" for a job we did not do based on your wish list. I assume then that if you visit a car dealer for example to buy your dream car and you don't like the price you would give them or the car an "F" review based on price. next time when asked try sharing your budget with the contractor, we don't ask to know your budget just so we can jack the price up, on the contrary it allows us to know what type and quality of finishes to bid, lets you know how realistic your budget is, and what can be done within the budget. Not wasting your time or ours, the estimate was free to you but to generate the kind of detailed quote you wanted takes approximately 6-8 hours of my time. Thanks again for the opportunity to quote your job Tony

It's going great. We used Tile by Tony when remodeling our bathrooms a couple years ago. They did a great job so we're using them again. Communication is great. Tony stops by every day to check the work and see if there are any questions. We know what they're doing and when they will do it. As with many big jobs, we found more damage to the floor than expected. The guys fixed it quickly and right. We chose high end materials so the cost could have been less had we gone with more standard features.
Description of Work: Total remodeling of two bathrooms in a relative's house. Removing tub/shower in one bath and tiny shower in another and replacing with walk in shower. We made choices to make the rooms more handicap accessible for aging in place. The lighting, cabinets, countertops and plumbing were all replaced as well.

They could not be bothered with our potential business.
Description of Work: Was looking for estimate on bathroom remodel and possible hire. After 3 calls in 2 weeks to schedule an appointment and no return phone call, I called and expressed my disappointment. The person that was answering the phone sounded as if I was asking too much of her boss to call back, saying something along the lines of "Well, he is very busy." My response was and continues to be that if he's that busy and cannot be bothered, then he probably isn't that organized or doesn't hire very good people to support him. They can keep their uppetty attitude!!!

Thank you for considering us for your project. As we pride ourselves on communication, I was surprised to read your review so I looked into it, questioning the girls and looking at our phone logs and call notes. The following is what I found. You had called and requested an estimate but it had to be on that Saturday. Although our showroom is closed on the weekend, I do, when necessary, do estimates on weekends. However, when you called, my team, including myself, were working through the weekend on a project that had to be finished in a very short time frame. The girls called you back with several other time options including evenings. You said that only Saturday would work and Melissa noted that you seemed irritated. She checked with me and I told her the best I would be able to do would be a Saturday 2 week. Hence, she called you in an attempt to set that up; however, you did not return the call. Sonya called you the following week with the same result. Again, I apologize if we failed to meet your expectation.

My wife and I have never been through an extensive home remodel job and were quite nervous about the process. We interviewed three contractors for our complete kitchen remodel. We selected Tile By Tony for four key reasons: (1) Rating on Angie's List; (2) Price; (3) Personally inspecting Tony's work at other remodel jobs; and, (4) Gut feel about Tony's integrity, work ethic and general contracting experience. We made the right decision in selecting Tile By Tony to do our remodel. We relied on his experience to give us ideas on the best and most affordable ways to remodel the kitchen. We developed a complete trust in his honesty, work ethic and integrity. Throughout the remodel process, he gave us ideas to save money rather than just continually increasing the cost of the job. Two of his key craftsmen are a father/son team of Lonnie and Steve. They are two highly-skilled and incredibly trustworthy professional craftsmen whose primary focus is on making the customer happy. They cleaned up the entire construction area at the end of each day. They, too, offered suggestions to save money and the quality of their work was A++. We entrusted them with keys to our house and our home security code. They would call when they encountered any surprises (which can occur with most any home remodel) to discuss the issue and then offered cost-saving suggestions to remedy the problem. Tony and his team followed through with every single remodel task. Nothing was left unfinished and the end result was a complete kitchen remodel for which we are extremely proud. We have several other additional home remodel tasks on our "wish list" which we will pursue in the coming year. Thankfully, I will no longer have to go through the time-consuming and painstaking bidding process with multiple construction contractors for these future contracting needs. Instead, I will go straight to Tony, Lonnie and Steve for any/all remodel improvements. Thank you, Tony, Lonnie, Steve and the entire office administration staff for your friendly, professional and quick-response to our remodel needs. You made us VERY happy!!!

We are really pleased with the results. Tony was always very professional and his staff was great. One little hitch was running out of the discontinued engineered wood which was not Tony's fault since it was purchased before he was hired. He was able to locate a similar match and it turned out just fine. Anything we had a question about, he made right. Can't wait to finish up with the fireplace, then start on new flooring in the bedrooms. We will definitely hire Tony for the job.
Description of Work: New flooring throughout main floors of home. Paver tile in the kitchen and laundry in a herringbone pattern which required demo on the old flooring(two different kinds). Engineered wood floor installed in the dining room, living room and hallway requiring demo of existing tile floors and concrete floor to even out the floor. Marble installed in the front entryway and closet, also requiring demo of existing tile. Demo of existing fireplace brick. New trim installed throughout main area including the laundry room. Custom built shelves across dining room wall and feont hall closet (which is now a sort of mud room but very cool).

we had purchased a wood floor for approximately 1900 sq ft of our open concept house. The entire kitchen had been gutted and redone. After kitchen was completed the wood floor was installed by another reputable company. we were advised that they could cover the expanse without thresholds in the middle of the room..The floor started to buckle and we joked about our new stair stepping machine. This company tried for a year to keep trimming away at the floors to relieve pressure but nothing worked. This company removed the flooring and gave us a full refund. We contacted tile by tony and he summed it up very quickly....what we needed to do and also advised us to use a rubber membrane that would protect our new tile from cracking. The job was performed in three days...while we were out of town. Tonys crew left the house immaculate and we came home to our beautiful new floor. We have had no problems and continue to recieve many compliments.Yes Tony charges reflect a job that turns out perfect. You definitely get what you pay for and I wish we had gone with Tony from the start. He advised he would have never agreed to do a wood floor for the expanse of the area. I would reccommend Tile By Tony to everyone

Throughout the project we found Tony and all of his crew and sub-contractors to be highly skilled, very professional and excellent to communicate with. Tony is like a symphony conductor in the way he directs the work of the various members of his crew and sub-contractors. He orchestrates the scheduling of work to the greatest advantage, so that what needs to be done at any given time is not held up because something else needed to be done first. He communicates very well and personally inspects the work being done almost on a daily basis. I might add that the sub-contractors he uses have worked with him for years and do beautiful work also. His crew has been with him for many years and they are all master craftsmen and easy to communicate with. At the end of each day's work they clean up the area, pick up tools and materials. They lay down protective floor coverings and cover doorways of work areas to keep down on dust. Tony works very hard to ensure that the customer gets what is asked for with the best possible results. His office people are very friendly, helpful and communicate well with the customer. They will call to let you know if there are changes in the work schedule. They email updates to the project cost staement, so that you can track expenses. Tony is not going to be the cheapest in price, but you really get what you pay for, with great attention to detail. In our case, we wound up adding some extra work to the project such as additional plumbing work in a half bath, replacing lights in our living room ceiling, etc. Tony and his folks bring years of experience, the skills of mastercraftsmen, and excellent customer relations and communication to the task at hand. We could not be more pleased with our two new bathrooms. I believe Tony is going to post pictures on his facebook page, (I don't know this for a fast because we don't do facebook) Although the business name is Tile By Tony he can do just about any kind of remodeling. We even toured a multistory house that he had remodled from top to bottom including plumbing, electrical, tile, woodwork, floors, changeing of walls, and floorplan, ect. (It was one of the things that helped us decide to use Tony) We would definitely use them for any future remodeling needs, or for smaller repair jobs. (yes they do that too) Thanks Tony!
Description of Work: We selected Tile by Tony to do the remodel of our two bathrooms based on reviews we read on Angie's List. The work took 7-8 weeks. There was a hall bathroom that was partially remodeled and a large master bath that was extensively remodeled.

Everything went as planned. Nothing and I mean nothing went wrong. I was amazed how Tony had the work schedule preplanned for his crew. The crew that worked in our home was great, and I was honored to meet everyone of them. These guys had a difficult mission to do in our home but they exceeded beyond our expectations. My wife and I are totally astonished and very pleased with Tile by Tony Inc. and his crew. Oh, I almost forgot his showroom in Catoosa. The young ladies that helped us was very helpful and informative. There must be hundreds of different tile to choose from. They didn't hurry us to decide and let us take our time to decide on which tile to use. My wife and I would give Tile by Tony Inc. and A+++++ if it were possible.
Description of Work: Totally transformed two pathetic and unattractive 1970's bathrooms with rusty bathtubs into elegant, modern and functional bathrooms. The master bathroom now has a huge walk in handicapped accessible shower with complete shower accessories. The complete floor is also tiled and with new bathroom facilities. The shower is tiled to the ceiling; very beautiful. New marble countertop Its SO NICE!! The guest bathroom now has a beautiful new cast iron bathtub and tiled to the ceiling with new shower fixtures. A new ceramic sink was installed and also the floor was tiled. Both bathroom's received new water efficient and higher toilets with slow closing lids. Also new faucets and shower equipment were installed.

Response from Tile By Tony Inc
As you stated in your review, I am extremely knowledgeable which, is why you called me to find out why you had water flooding your downstairs from your upstairs tub. You informed me you had 3 different plumbers try to figure out where the water was leaking from. The last spent several hours, all failed and all charged for their efforts. You called me out of desperation. I spent 30 minutes of my time, at no charge to you, in the evening and figured out exactly where the leaking was coming from. Also I showed you where black mold was growing on the drywall, on the wood subfloor, and under the wood subfloor. I explained that your tile job lacked a water proof membrane under the tile, a hallmark of a good job. The membrane would have stopped the water penetration. You told me quote “I want this fixed right. I had already paid to have the drywall replaced twice downstairs” I gave you a detailed quote to redo the tile job the right way by removing the black mold and installing new tile with a waterproof membrane that would permanently keep water from penetrating. Caulking the soap dish and other areas will, at best, slow the leakage for a very short time, and do nothing to address the mold issue which you should be concerned about for your family’s health. You called me as an expert, I told you how to fix your problems the right way but because you think the cost is too high suddenly you become the expert and I become a crook. The detailed scope of work is exactly as called for by the national tile institute, local, and national building codes. It also represents 30 years of fixing clusters like yours. Based on the fact you gave us a “D” rating on quality for work we only quoted I must surmise you greatly appreciated my time and effort. Thank you

Tony was on time and professional. He gave me an estimate promptly. I decided to go with him for the work on the house I am to purchase. It's a foreclosure property that needs work. It's eligible for a 203k mortgage loan that gives u money for the house and needed repairs. The only requirement is to have a licensed contractor to have a bid to show the proposed work. Kind of like an itemized layout estimate of proposed worked. Then after closing the work has to be completed within 6 months. The bank will issue them the check for the work. I explained this to his secretary. When the estimate was emailed to me I asked it to be readjusted. Not really for me but my bank needed it to have measurements and be more itemized. She was nice at first and sent me another email with it adjusted...but it still wasn't right...so I called back and asked her to add a few things..just wording..and to please fix and add measurements etc. I wasn't calling like 10 times a day..I called only once a day or twice at one point. I needed the estimate fixed so I could get it to the bank..so I could close soon. I apologized telling his secretary that I wasn't being picky..This is just a requirement with 203k loans. This was now a 2 week process going back and fourth. The only reason I kept calling is because they did not add the original stuff I asked for in the estimate to begin with. Well recently his secretary called and told me tony did not want to even do the job anymore. I was stunned. I mean this was potentially 10 grand worth of work..I wasn't being difficult. I just asked for an itemized estimate. The bank has to see that improvements aren't for cosmetic reasons and they are to fix up the property. I just called asking them to change stuff like wording. Like instead of saying install fencing. .say install fencing where missing..cause there was an original fence there it was just missing on one side. He really put me in a spot. I had to scramble and find more ppl to come out to do estimates. His secretary had the nerve to say...that I was adding stuff everyday. I was not adding stuff..I was asking them to reword stuff..if I sent it how they originally had the estimate the bank would have rejected it. I think it was unprofessional how they acted. I was the customer hiring them..and they couldn't get a simple estimate right. His secretary said everyday there was something. Well..hello...u weren't putting in the estimate what I asked..and honestly..it would have rook 2 seconds to fix it. I wasn't asking for a 10 page report. I did ask new stuff be added at some points..but it was because I forgot to tell them..but again I was new to the 203k loan process and didn't know what the bank all wanted originally. I mean to back out at the last minute and say u don't want to do a job because I asked u to fix wording on an estimate is rude and ridiculous. I was not being difficult. I was nice and polite. I would not work with this company. They may back out on u on the last minute.

Response from Tile By Tony Inc
Hi, Sorry you feel we were unfair to bow out of bidding on your job. At no time did you indicate to us you wanted us to do the job. We had no deposit or contract; in fact, you had not even submitted the bids to your bank for approval, so it really was not the last minute or anywhere near it. We had not agreed to do the job nor had we even discussed payment terms or scheduling. I have been in the construction business for over 30 years, during this time, I have come to realize that not every customer or job will be a good match for us, like not every contractor will be a good match for you. There can be many reasons, ranging from that little voice in your head telling you not to do the job, or red flags you learn to recognize. Let me try to address the issues that led to my decision. When I met you on time at the house you, laid out the scope of work for me. Walking me through the house and around the exterior, I made extensive notes and took measurements. I worked on your bid approx. 6 hours, itemizing all aspects and detailing the work, I submitted a detailed quote to you. A few days later you asked me to have my electrician trouble shoot the electrical system problems. This was included on my bid and could he be there, the next day. I told you yes, it would be in the afternoon and we would call you with a time. When we called to let you know what time he would be there you notified me that you had got another electrician who would be there and not to send mine, red flag #1. You then started changing the scope of work going from replacing carpet to patching it, results are never good and I did not build my reputation on Mickey Mouse work. You then changed the scope of work on window pane replacing from 10 down to 3, again, cutting quality, red flags #2 and 3. We believe in communication, we never have a problem with anyone calling us as many times a day as they need, this is good, but when we get several calls each day (we keep phone logs) having us change wording and our scope of work on our bids, we start worrying about fraud and price shopping. For example, why would the bank need to know exactly how many feet of guttering, how many feet of down pipe, or how many feet of wood rot on how wide a boards, more red flags. You state on your review I was on time and professional, yet you gave me a C for punctuality and F for professionalism. You say you wanted us to do the job yet you rated my price a C, why would you want us to do a job if you are unhappy with the price? You complain about the lack of detail in my bid, yet most of our other reviews state how detailed our bids are. You rated our responsiveness a D, yet we always answered the phone, followed up, and sent you the changes you wanted, till the little voice in my head was screaming. You rated our quality an F, yet we didn’t do any work for you. The name and address of the Angies list member you used does not match your name or address where the work was to be performed. More fraud??? We have asked Angie’s List to investigate Fortunately, in this country, you can hire anyone you want and the reverse is also true. We had no contract and the scope of work was a moving target. Based on your review, we made the right decision to back out. We wish you well with your first home.

Tony's crew took the fireplace apart piece by piece, cleaned off the old grout, replaced the sheetrock with plywood for the backing, placed brick ties on the plywood, secured the cast stone to the brick ties, and regrouted with matching grout. The work was completed wonderfully, the fireplace is extremely secure, and the finished fireplace looks great and much better than it looked before! The shower in the master bath was completed in September 2013. Tony knew exactly how a shower needed to be installed so that there would never be an issue with mold behind the tile if the grout ever separated. He installed Schluter Kerdi membrane, cement board, and while tearing out the old tile used an air scrubber machine to contain dust and allergens. All floors and cabinets were covered during the process as well. The finished shower is beautiful, his crew was was very professional and courteous, and Tony is extremely easy to work with and will address any issues you have to make sure the work is done to your satisfaction. We couldn't be happier with everything Tony has done for us!
Description of Work: We actually had two projects completed by Tony. The most recent was the removal, cleaning, and replacement of a cast stone fireplace that was falling down. The builder had not built the fireplace correctly and it was pulling away from the wall.- $2,700. ~ The other project that we had Tony do earlier was to tear out and redo the shower in our master bath.- $14,700.

I believe when they came out I did the carpet in my play room and I can say that was years ago. I was pleased. After they came out I realized they had also tiled my bathroom in my master bedroom. I just replaced the carpet and I know it has been there since I started doing child care in that play room. I would say that was probably like in early 90s, like 1996 maybe. I couldn't even say when the tile was done. That was earlier than that. I think when I called them the last time was to repair my carpet. I had the same ones that was unraveling. He came in and fixed it. There wasn't much he could do. He couldn't keep if from unraveling. It was going to happen again but he definitely repaired it for the time.
Description of Work: I have actually used Tile By Tony Inc twice. Tile By Tony Inc did the carpet in my play room and they came out later and repaired it.

Response from Tile By Tony Inc
Hi (Member name removed), I have checked our records and archives and I don't find either your name or address. ( I have asked Angies list to check with you for any documentation) I believe you have us confused with another company. You stated the carpet was laid in 1996 or before, we actually only started selling and installing carpet about 8 years ago though we have done tile and other remodeling since 1982. on reading your review It seemed that both the carpet job and the tile work you had done had had lasted and performed well by your own admission . Whoever you had called to repair the carpet 20 years later had also been able repair a frayed edge on a carpet used as a daycare, no small task . If infact you cannot figure out who did the work I will be happy to take credit for lasting so well but surley it deserves an A rating rather than the B you gave. Our rating is our online reputation and it is very important to us. Thanks Tony

Tony and his staff were professional in every way. The bid was comparable, or maybe a little higher than some others, but the group of craftsmen were well worth it. The time estimate for completion was accurate (3-4 weeks) and someone came to work on the project nearly every day. Tony addressed all of my requests without reservation or compromise. I would definitely use them again, and recommend him to others.
