Overall very good.

Terrible - almost everything died. Was not responsive to check on items when they started doing poorly. We hand watered, and did everything that he suggested. In hind sight we realized that the planting was horrible. No preparation of the soil, etc. The plants did not net in. Shrubs from other providers have lasted. We contacted Bruce many times over a 2 year period. There were always promised to make this right, but he NEVER followed through. I let him know a month ago that I would call it a day and leave feedback here. He again made big promises, but no action.

I found Tallgrass Landscaping on HomeAdvisor, another web site. He and another landscape designer quoted on what I requested. I chose Tallgrass because I thought they would do a quick, clean, straight-forward job. That they did. However, when one of the plants failed to thrive and has died, they would not replace it even though it stated in the contract and Mr. Bush assured me repeatedly that he would have his guys replace the plant. The last text message I sent informed him that his guys had not arrived the day before to replace the plant. I have not heard from Mr. Bush or anyone else at Tallgrass Landscaping. This was a good experience until the plant incident.

I found Bruce Bush (owner) through the internet. He came out the day after I called and we started the process of designing a landscape for my severely neglected backyard. I was looking for someone that had extensive knowledge of plants, trees, etc and could lead me to a completely re-landscaped backyard retreat. I was also looking for someone that would stand behind their work and would offer a warranty on the landscaping. Bruce (and his great crew) were up to the task. What started out as an estimate for just a few flower beds turned into a complete backyard makeover. Bruce suggested many trees and plants that I'd never heard of before. He'd email me pictures (and designs) of various trees and shrubs. We also met numerous times at the nursery that he uses to look at different tree/shrubs and oftentimes found something new that we liked. This was a large project consisting of multiple Japanese Maples and other ornamental trees, dozens of azaleas, ferns, hostas, and many more plants too numerous to mention. All beds were first prepped by turning over the dirt and adding bags of Back to Nature amendments to the soil. Over the course of several weeks, the plants arrived and were installed. Finally, all of the flower beds were mulched with pine bark mulch to give it a finished look. The flower beds couldn't look better! Once the flower beds were installed, it was time to replace the grass with new Fescue sod. The old grass was removed. The yard was tilled and amendments added to the soil. The new sod was laid and the final backyard makeover looks amazing! Towards the end of the project, I told Bruce that I was thinking about building a stone grill station on the side of my patio. I asked him if he knew of any stone masons that he could recommend that do quality work. He said his guys could build one for me. I was a little nervous, since I knew that his guys, while great at landscaping, weren't stone masons and I was interested in getting a quality job. Well, quality is what I got. They spent over a week building what turned out to be a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, custom stone grill station with a really cool water feature that flows from within the grill station out the side. The stone work turned out perfect. A couple other points. A few of the plants/shrubs didn't make it through the very hot last weeks of August. I told Bruce about them. He came out, looked at the plants and replaced them. No charge. Can't beat that! Finally, Bruce installed some professional-grade landscape lighting. This isn't your typical Lowes lighting and is expensive, but it comes with a lifetime warranty and the night-time look is impressive. I believe I have found the one landscaping company that I will used from now on. After a couple of failed landscaping attempts with other companies (yes, I've written reviews), I think I've found the best. I'm more than happy to recommend Bruce Bush, his crew, and Tallgrass Landscaping for any landscaping needs.
