Cherry Plumbing

We have a house built in 1953 and the sewer line was made of some subpar material that crushes and erodes over time. Orangeburg or something like that. Water was backing up into the house because the line collapsed. Cherry plumbing did come quickly to give us an estimate and scheduled the work right away. They were going to have to dig out/trench the old line and install new pipe. In order to get into our back yard, they were going to have to take down some trees and part of our fence. Once the work was started, they realized the line was actually run in a different direction which caused them to have to take out a retaining wall and part of our neighbors fence. The line was installed in a couple of days and works great. So, for the job they were hired to do, install a new sewer line, they did a good job The damage due to this process was serious and repairs are not included in their scope of work. Although I understood what was going to happen, the damage to our yard in order to perform the work was quite extensive. We lost most of the foliage along our back property line, our lawn is a mud hole, and we had to repair our neighbors retaining wall and fence. Fencing cost $1900 and repairs to the retaining wall and neighbors fence cost another $550.

I called about a leak in my downstairs bathroom ceiling. The young plumber said he could not figure out where it was coming from. Instead of calling his supervisor or a seasoned plumber for assistance, he suggested I call a leak detection service. He said he could put some caulking around the upstairs bathtub drain, but he wasn't sure if it would help. It didn't.

I have used Cherry Plumbing twice in the last year to make repairs to our hot water heater. They are always friendly, punctual, and get the job done quickly. They explain in detail the job they are doing. They also will make recommendations which seem genuine and realistic. Not just a play for customers to spend more money. I have not used another plumber so I cannot make a comparison in price. I will continue to use them.

I have used Cherry before and they are friendly and helpful on the phone and professional in appearance and work. They quickly scheduled my hot water tank replacement and showed up as promised--in fact earlier. The person who took my call quoted me their price range of $900-$1200 for hot water tank installation. This was in line with the 4 other plumbers that I called. Since my old hot water tank was pretty much up to code (needed a pan under the new one) and easy access in the garage, I assumed it would be on the low end of the price range. Cherry's prices have never seemed out of line, but I felt that my simple hot water tank replacement which took exactly 2 hours should not have cost $1200. The price was not negotiable, but they did let me use a $75 coupon. The young man who worked at my house was very courteous and worked quickly and neatly. The new fittings look good and the Rheem tank works fine.

They are very prompt and give good service. They are fairly inexpensive. I would use them again in the future.
