We received Pete as a reference from Service Master when they came out to try and clean up after the fire. Our first meetings with Pete were great. He showed us his daughters homes which were for sale, and told us that with the way he builds homes out total utilities for the home would be under $150.00 a month!!! We know that it is possible for homes around here to have that low monthly utility cost but it does require lots of high quality materials. For the items were were choosing we never received a budget until we were in the store picking our fixtures, tile, flooring, paint, and the like. I personally prefer hard wood flooring and ceramic tile. These are materials that will last a lifetime rather than cheaper grade carpeting and imitation products. When picking out fixtures I was told on several occasions that items were "not included" or that our budget was used up. Other customizations such as adding 6" to our kitchen cabinets added $1,500.00 to the cost of the build. When choosing the wall colors it was assumed that these were the ceiling colors as well so the ceilings had to be re painted to a normal white or off white color. Because we didn't choose to go with carpeting on the stair case I asked the workman how much it would cost to have oak steps rather than the plywood. He told me $10.00 a step. Pete charged us an additional $1,300.00 for the stair case. I personally paid for the granite counter tops in the kitchen, bathrooms, and utility room. However we were also charged in the final build price. We know that we paid for additional insulation, and customizations, but honestly have no clue if these services, and projects have been complected. Since the build has been completed we have found countless issues. The electrics in the house are a constant problem. breakers go off if more than one person tries to blow dry hair in the morning. There is a door bell installed in our home but no way to possibly ring the bell form the exterior. When the plumbing is used you can hear it anywhere in the house and the walls and ceilings are cracking not due to earthquakes or any external factors but due to poor workmanship. Since our home has been build we have yet to see a month of utilities under $400.00. The price we paid for this build was no where near the estimate and we have had to deal with subcontractors and supply companies threatening leans against our home due to Pete not paying his bills and workers. We just wanted a quality home and to use a local company. We advise any person considering using Pete to just stay away. We have had to have countless contractors out here to try and correct his poor work and get our home in proper working order.
