The Homeguard Construction crew did a very professional job! We are very pleased with the finished room! The job required moving and re-installing AC duct work, AC refrigerant lines, electrical and drain lines. They had to raise the subfloor, deck the floor and all of this before work could begin on the room. The room has awkward ceiling lines due to the roof line but they worked with this constraint and made a very nice finished room with plenty of space. The room finished out with excellent quality as all of their employees are professionals in their variety of trades. Joe is a great communicator and kept us informed of the progress and next tasks, daily. He let us know when he was ordering materials and when to expect delivery. Most importantly, Joe advised me of any delays or problems as they were encountered. No job goes exactly as planned but this one was about 95% as planned. There were no big surprises or major cost adjustments during the project. The biggest compliments that I can give is that once the job started at least one person was on site working everyday! The job kept moving along at a good pace even though it was interrupted witht the Thanksgiving Holiday. All of their crew are very polite, friendly and with integrity. They had full access to our home over three weeks and we did not have any problems. We were very surprised that at the end of each day the crew cleaned up their mess and tried to keep all tools and materials out of our paths. Great Job Homeguard Construction....we will be calling you again!!!

I called Pat and he came by exactly when he said he would to inspect the damage. He gave me what I thought was a fair quote and sent two guys out the next day to repair the damage. The two gentlemen were quick and did very good work. ----- Pros: Pat was professional and nice to deal with Fair Price Punctual Quick turnaround Solid Work Cons: The two guys working the job left very quickly when finished without explaining what they had done or telling us the job was complete. ------ Overall, this was an excellent experience and I feel that these are contractors you can trust. I would definitely use them again!

Homeguard did a great job. As with all large remodels problems came up that were unexpected. (Or I just changed my mind) The home guard guys were all great!. Due to rain the job ran a little longer than expected and they have been super responsive when something has need a touch up. Joe, Pat and the rest of the crew were great to work with. I would highly recommend them!

They were a great group to work with.
Description of Work: This was a huge job as the old 2 layer roof needed torn off, approximately 1/4th of the decking needed replaced, and new architectural shingles were put on. They applied vinyl siding, but before they could, the old wooden siding had areas of rot which had to be replaced as the wood siding had to work as a base for the new siding. They also removed the covered in back patio area and placed in support beams to hold up the roof that covers it, opening up our patio as it was when the house was originally built. (The covered in patio was a structural nightmare that the previous owners thought was a good idea). New guttering, window framing and all new external doors (3) were part of the package as well. Pat and his crew scheduled their work with our schedule (summer vacation in the middle) and our house was transformed in just a few weeks. They were a great group to work with.

We were excited to get started with Homeguard. But quickly found out Joe the salesman, was just that, a salesman. He had very little construction knowledge and told us the job would take 2 days when it ended up taking over a week. The man they sent for demolition did a very poor job on protecting the rest of the house. The plastic was haphazardly hung on the door and he would only work for an hour at a time. One time I found him laying in the front seat of his car with his lady friend laying in the backseat of his car. Workers failed to show up when they said they would and then they would leave early. The only quality workman for them was Norman who did our fireplace. He was very knowledgeable, thorough and punctual. He was the only one who cleaned up after himself. I intentionally left tape on our walls to see if any of them would notice it and remove it. Needless to say, I had to clean up after everyone. But when it came time to get the check, Joe was right there & walked past the mess several times. Overall the quality of the work was good, but the process of getting it done was less than desirable.

I contacted Homeguard thru an email and received a call from Joe. I explained that my husband and I owned a home in Tulsa and needed to have it fixed up to sell. We lived in South Carolina and would be making a trip to Tulsa at the end of May. Joe took charge of the job, gave me estimates on the work, took pictures as each stage of the job was completed. We had three stages that needed to be complete. He was in communication with me either by phone or email daily. He only required payment after each stage was completed. We were pleased with his the work that he and his crew performed and he was professional throughout the whole process. The house has currently been sold.

Description of Work: Pat Hummingbird and crew did an excellent job on our project. We had new siding and new patio roof installed. He finished our patio roof underside with 1x6 cedar boards. He extended our patio floor to 22x16 feet . He painted the cement patio with a textured non slip paint. We now have a beautiful home with an outstanding patio. There were a few changes we requested and he took care of with no problem. This the best experience I have ever had with a contractor.

I have used Homegaurd in the past and decided to call them again when I updated the toilets in our home. I like that they are direct and efficient in setting up estimates and times. I plan to use them again as I need home repairs.

I was impressed with their creativeness, and problem solving skills and always taking cost into consideration. I was consulted about what they planned to do. Everything went very well and I will be using this company again. My job was small but they were willing to take it on. Other contractors either did not show to give an estimate after an appt. was made or did not submit a bid.

The young man assigned to the job showed up at the requested time, understood what work was expected, performed the work with expertise and cleaned up the area when he was done. The worker was pleasant and did an EXCELLENT job and at a lower cost than others had projected. This job involved replacing a door frame for a door in my garage leading to the back yard that had been severely cracked by repeated slamming in the wind. Not only did he replace the door frame but reinstalled the latching lock and doorknob hardware for the existing door to PERFECTION, including caulking. I had asked that the new trim be painted (I provided the paint) but there were other contractors who did not want to do this while I thought this should be part of the job. I would not hesitate to contact this company again for any work I need done!

ain reinstalled twice and still not right; caused more unnecessary damage then attempted to bill for insurance estimated cost of entire job. Misrepresented his abilities, time lines for completion, and costs. Cannot say anything good about this company except he can look you in the eye and makes a pleasant appearance. Filed a complaint with BBB, have received no response from anyone; am still compiling costs for corrections and will pursue further action when I have a total. Update: Response to Provider's response Provider is incorrect. I have pictures to prove the inadequate repairs which were done. The alleged electrician which the alleged contractor employed would have caused a fire had the problems not been corrected (this per the city inspector, not my opinion). When the insurance adjuster came to inspect the property after some of the alleged repairs were done, he agreed that the work was sub-standard. Provider is correct in that I gave him "punch lists" of things to correct--many of the items never got corrected. As to the "upgrade" in the shingles--I paid for the difference in the shingles. As to his claim that I was not out any money, such is not the case. He was always trying to increase the claim to the insurance company, saying he knew how to work the insurance company to get money out of them. I wanted my home fixed--right. I wanted the insurance company to cover the damages and they did. This provider did not live up to his representations. He continues to misrepresent himself, this job and his abilities. He was not given a "time line" for the work by the insurance company. He worked on the house from August 1, until I fired him in November, 2013. All the repairs could have been accomplished well within that period of time, and correctly so. I have now paid for items to be repaired which this provider's company was to have completed. I paid an estimate for the work in October, since he did not provide me with an invoice. I repeatedly asked for an invoice for the work the provider did--in January, 2014, he sent me an invoice for the entire job, as though his company completed the job satisfactorily. Again, I have pictures to prove my side of this story. If anyone would like additional details or to see the representative pictures, contact me at mooreallenlawyers@yahoo.com.
Description of Work: Due to a fallen tree on my house, I allowed this contractor to attempt repairs. The event occurred in late July, 2013. I fired him Nov., 2013, with the repairs still not completed and with no completion date. Attempted to replace roof--had to be re-done twice and still not right; drywall installation but walls had bad deflections which were not fixed; ceilings had bad deflections which were not fixed; omitted supporting purlins in roof; demolished undamaged items; removed outside stone from property; bad rock installation on outside of house--not fixed; installed new furnace incorrectly then allowed debris to run through; bad soffits on roof--ag

Response from Homeguard Construction Inc
There is so much I could say about this but will not. If your interested in hearing our side please call. We would get punch list of items to correct for her and she would mark them off as we went along. There were things she wanted to change and there were a few that were our fault. We still had two months left to complete repairs per insurance and weren't permitted to. This customer is not out any money. She has only paid a small portion of what is owed. Insurance was paying for a 30 year shingle and we upgraded her to a 50 year shingle plus ice & water shield in all valleys. We tried to go above and beyond but it didn't work with this customer.
The project got started approximately the first of December, 2013. There had been much consultation, exchange of email, etc., prior to project startup to convey as precisely as possible the work to be done and the level of quality expected. Our continual intention and request was to do the house addition first, then when completed, move into it so the existing house would be completely available for its refresh. Two large trees were in place that had to be removed. I told the foreman I would remove them but wanted to be certain a permit would be issued before taking them down. He informed me about Thanksgiving he had the permit, so I took the trees down and ground the stumps out completely anticipating the work would begin there. Before actual start of the project, the owner and the foreman we were working with, along with one of their most valued hands, visited our house and toured the project again. The foreman, as I'll continue to refer to him, asked where they were to start, so I walked them to the back yard and told them the addition should be first. As weather worsened, however, there was reason to comply with their request to start on the inside. Looking back, this was probably a mistake. We had waited a long time to start, so we consented. Work started in the garage, patch and paint. As time progressed, little things started to happen. For example, our freezer was unplugged and all the contents spoiled (several hundred dollars). The crew all insisted they had no reason to unplug it, and effectively pointed this back to us. This remains a mystery. Removal of old carpet, tile, and wood floors began. To their credit, the wood floor removal was quite a task, it being a glued down floor. The guys working on removal had good attitude and worked hard, however, they were bad about gouging the concrete floor, sometimes pretty deeply (electric jack hammer). With their permission, one evening I took the jack hammer and found the problem was really one of methodology. I removed a fairly large section of floor in generally complete planks (they had to splinter them out) without a single gouge to the concrete. This pointed to some inexperience on the part of the workers and the foreman, an issue that raised its head several times. Homeguard did exercise considerable patience as we worked to find paint colors. Part of that process included a decision about the wood work, paint or refinish. I had chosen a stain color. The foreman suggested painting the cabinetry a white, a color he had used and thought turned out well. One of their key hands (same as referred to above) said he could strip the woodwork, that stain would not be a problem. Looking back, our best choice to keep the wood grain with stain would have been to rebuild the cabinets. This became a huge issue. It was one of the very first tasks inside we wished completed, so we wouldn't get stripper, dust, etc., on the new wood floors. To date, some of the woodwork has turned out fairly nice, but some remains in very poor condition and will have to be redone, covered up, or even now, the cabinetry replaced. This part of the project was entirely trial and error. When the initial application didn't work, stain was sprayed on and rubout attempted. This all worked to make a mess. That's about all. We decided to replace our baseboard moldings with new matching material. The foreman couldn't locate our molding pattern, so opted to select and begin installing a different design. We asked about it and despite it not being an exact match decided to allow it. My wife told him if he couldn't locate something else, to let her know and she'd go find it. We didn't want these decisions made by Homeguard. Then there was the bathroom tub replacement. Again to Homeguard's credit, they tackled installing a cast iron tub as a replacement for an acrylic unit. As part of the process, a new control valve was put in place. Now we had copper pipes and with my insistence standards be maintained, I anticipated copper would go back. Without any discussion, I came in to find plastic (pex) pipes and fittings. My initial reaction was to concede, but I decided since I was paying for it, and it is my house, I asked copper to be put in. They said the pex was as good as copper (perhaps), but they should not have assumed, they should have asked. I mentioned the new bath valve. That brings forward a whole new issue. Our water heater was about 7 years old, so when we no longer had consistent hot water I thought the unit was bad. I checked, no leaks, burner worked. I replaced the relief valve, still a problem. I discussed this with the foreman. He said they could install a new unit, so I immediately had it delivered for install. Homeguard did install it, but still no hot water. It turns out the internals were not put in the new bath control. This allowed back pressure on the water heater, so despite it having plenty of hot water, it would not flow to the shower. My wife started describing this to one of the workers and he immediately knew the issue. He had expected the internals would be put in the unit, but for some reason they were not. Now, things happen. The problem is the foreman probably should have known to check this as a possibility before I bought a water heater. This cost me several hundred dollars and several days of cold showers, that might have been avoided. It was a 7 year old heater, however, so I took a deep breath and went on. Little things began to pile up. Where we had asked plates, knobs, fixtures, be removed for painting many were cut around. Spots were left unpainted, or unrepaired before painting. Transition pieces from the wood floor to tile were cut wrong, leaving gaps, and had to be replaced. One was broken, and an attempt made to glue it back together. This had to be replaced. Unsightly gaps were left when angles were cut on the baseboards. The ready solution was to caulk it, but some gaps were too large for this. There was more than one gap of notice left in the new wood floor and gaps left at the wall that had to be filled with putty. There just wasn't precision (craftsmanship) in a lot of work, and some was so sloppy it just had to be redone. Then there was the issue of the wrong grout color being used. Efforts were made to convince us it looked good. Well, it looked good if you didn't consider the remainder of the tile of that type would have a different color. It had to be scoured out and topped out with the correct color. Somewhere about here, perhaps a bit before, the foreman came to my wife saying they had blown the budget for our addition. Effectively, it was going to cost an additional 50% to have it built. Now, his numbers won't exactly show this, but they ignore the fact we personally already bought tile and wood floor for the addition, allowance being in his original bid for this material, but not in his new number. Now, I understood some aspect of a budget this large perhaps having a problem. Concrete seemed to be the major issue (about $6,000 more) and perhaps I could have accepted that. The foreman, however, said he relied on his hand to account for all material, that electrical was underbid, no insulation was included, on and on. At this point, I just thought we'd been scammed. It would explain why we, despite having some good weather days, could not get them to start the addition. They did go out and set some lines, the erosion barrier, and painted the perimeter, but this was soon lost to bad weather. In the end, I don't believe this was intentional (Yes, I am gullible). I just think the foreman had never tackled a project this large and was in way over his head. We decided the additional cost was out of line with our house and neighborhood, so decided to cancel the addition. Despite having upgraded our house far beyond what would have been done if we knew no addition was going to be built (we would have done a scaled down remodel and sold to buy a house that fit us), we decided to finish it out and either sell or just adjust our goals and live in it. This news was conveyed, and things just continued downhill. There was the kitchen. We had new quartz counter tops installed (I can absolutely recommend the company that did that work. Fantastic!) and new appliances. Homeguard made several attempts to level an oven and microwave, without success. We finally contracted the appliance company installers to come fix the problem, which they did in short order. While here they checked the dishwasher re-install (it was leaking) and noted the new vent hood had the plastic coating still on it. It would have to be pulled down for this to be removed. Unfortunately, Homeguard had grouted in the backsplash to join the vent. Also, the appliance installers noticed a 2" hole where the vent to the attic was attached. When the vent was turned on, part of the exhaust went inside the cabinets. We found attic wiring from new lights not stapled down and the insulation not raked back in place. Drawers were left not working, trim not cut properly, nail holes left un-puttied, things done poorly or not at all. The solution to the vent hood plastic coating mentioned above was for them to pull it back and stuff it in the crack between the hood and the sidewall. We finally had all we could take. Homeguard's poor work and continual delays just wore us out. By this time, we should have had a completed project, including the new addition, and be moved back in and enjoying it. I will say at no time was anyone directly abusive. Despite all the issues with our project, other newer jobs were given priority, and work quality further deteriorated. We have hired a new contractor and hope remodel is done by end of May. Still paying storage and still have a lot of extra tile... My trees are gone. Yes, we paid them all they billed, immediately or with little delay. I know...
Description of Work: Initial plan was to add a bedroom suite, utility, modify the existing house and paint, refinish woodwork, new floors... In short. a total remodel with major addition. The $27,500 is for billed work, not the full project as originally planned. In the end, the contactor completed to some level about 75% of the existing house remodel, with some work acceptable in quality and other that still must be addressed.

Response from Homeguard Construction Inc
Reply from my sales rep on the job everyday: I was told numerous times by home owners wife that she loved working with me and our employees as we were very detailed oriented. We showed up everyday on time with at least 2 employees that stayed to complete the task required for the day. The wife was home all day and I would call her in to inspect everything thing before we moved on to the next task. I always heard how great we were and how they had made the right decision with going with Home Guard. Whenever they had a issue with any item we immediately put extra workers on the job to take care of anything that may have been bothering them. We offered to pay for the items in the freezer as we would own up to it but they had moved the freezer and from day one never saw it plugged in. The wife started using our workers to consult with and would eat up numerous hours trying to make the decision for her. The customer commented about taking up the glue down floors and the concrete was soft in some areas so we patched it anyway even though another floor was being put down. The baseboard was almost a exact match and was the only item they had similar. It looked beautiful and we were replacing all the baseboard in the house. As for the cabinets the customer wanted us to use a soy based stripper he found on line which we spent many hours trying to work with as he said it was non toxic and would like to use it. Bottom line is it did not work and cost our crew many hours before we changed. The addition could have never been started as for the bad winter we had. The customer kept wanting to pour the pad and the ground was frozen which would have resulted in a disaster. We did make errors in pricing of the addition as the customer never provided a blueprint and had us draw up his plans instead of hiring a architectural designer. As time went on he kept adding more items thinking the cost would remain the same. After presenting him with the new price I told them they should find another contractor to do the addition as we had missed items on the initial quote and we felt bad about it and would eat the permits as well as other items and hours we spent preparing for the addition. Everyday I checked with the wife for approval which she always loved only to get a lengthy email the next day saying what should be fixed even when we had not completed the task. We always cleaned up each day and I even took my wife with me on the weekend to clean their floors while they were out of town with a duster mop and floor cleaner. Construction is not a home cleaning service even though we go above and beyond the call of duty. I have worked with many customers and must say that I felt we went did a quality job but I really don't think you could ever completely please them. Everyday they would say it looked beautiful only to walk in the next day to find 20 more items that they decided they wanted us to go over. I feel that our crew did a outstanding job and I do not think this customer will ever be pleased.

Joe was very prompt and professional, providing me with a very competitive bid within 2 days of his initial visit. He also followed up several times to see if I had any questions. I was very impressed by the level of service given and based on my interaction, would not hesitate to recommend Joe and Homeguard for a project.
Description of Work: Joe provided me with a bid on a siding/painting job at my house.

My sales person on this job said customer was very easy to work with. She had mentioned that she would be adding brick to the outside of the house. We extended the decking, shingles and drip edge as requested. Me nor my sales rep had ever heard a complaint until this review was posted. I would be happy to discuss this review if anyone has questions regarding it.

Mr Humingbird was very professional! He and his worker came out and went right to work! Had to have the worker come back out to install a piece of laminate on a spot that had been missed. A very minor thing, they came right out and fixed it with no problems or complaints. We would recommend Homeguard construction!
Description of Work: replaced kitchen countertops and installed sink
My patio roof did not adequately protect the patio from rain, snow and sun and needed to be extended. I contacted Mr. Hummingbird with Homeguard Construction in Broken Arrow in early November and requested a quote. He came out the next day and my wife and I gave him a rough idea of what we wanted to accomplish with the roof extension. He said that he had experience in that type of construction and we agreed in general terms as to what was to be done. The next day Mr. Hummingbird sent us an email with a quote of $3,250 for an extension on the south side including painting. We subsequently decided to expand the east side for an additonal $750, bringing the total cost to $4,000. Mr. Hummingbird said that he could not start our project for about three weeks because of his existing workload, which was not a problem for us. We just wanted it completed by the end of the year. Once Homeguard started in late November, the work went pretty fast until a heavy ice and snowstorm hit which, combined with Thanksgiving, delayed completion about ten days. Homeguard spent about five days in total on the construction and painting and their gutter man spent a couple of hours after the construction was completed replacing the damaged gutters. One of my prime objectives was to have a finished project that looked like it was part of the original construction. Mr. Hummingbird and his lead project manager, Danny, promised that it would look like the original and it does. They are true to their word. Everything they told me or promised they backed up with their actions. We couldn't be more pleased. If you want it done right at a reasonable cost, call Homeguard Construction.
Description of Work: Extended my patio roof both on the south and east sides.

This company is amazing. They were amazingly fast and the job was outstanding.
Description of Work: they came out in the middle of December on the only three warm days and re-decked and roofed both my house and barn. I did not have proper decking as the deck was the old wood shingles.
