REPUBLIC WASTE SVC

This company has continued to raise it’s price. They added a fuel surcharge when gasoline was high and that never went away. Living alone, I occasionally have one bag of trash a week. I do my own recycling. For this I pay 43 dollars a month. They frequently leave the lid on the trash receptacle open in the rain. I found a much lower price through another company. Republic charges $66.00 to pick up the trash receptacle. Avoid them if you can.

This is for the Bellfontaine OH office. We have had the same company for 13 years since they were Buckeye Waste. They leave items outside the trash can now. In the past, they would pick up smaller items laying alongside the garbage can. Now they simply leave it on the ground. When I called the first time to ask, they did not explain why this happened. The customer service fellow was clueless as to why this would happen. I placed the small wood pieces in the trash can the next service time and the guy picked it up no problem. "OK so it has to be INSIDE the trash can" I thought to myself.... Next time I put a small, empty charcoal grill outside the trash can so it would not fall over the top in the wind. Again, they left it behind. When I called to ask, the woman told me I have to call ahead for bulk items. Why didn't they tell me this the first time? Note, this was really small and empty and I could have placed it inside the trash can If I did not worry about the wind/raccoons knocking it it over. Why do I have to call ahead for such a small item that could have fit in the trash and one fellow can easily pick it up? Why did no one bother to tell me this in the first place? It's like he left it there for spite. Folks, we recycle most of our items, but I got lazy this time with the metal grill. We never go above one trash can, and some weeks we have NO trash to place out at all because of recycling and composting. I have to drag the recyclables in bulk across town as Republic refuses to offer recycle in the countryside. Also, a couple years ago they were going to charge me $500.00/year for one single family trash can even though weeks can go by where we do not place out any trash! I am very disappointing...such poor customer service. I assume they don't care about small, residential customers now. I will drag the grill to recycling and cancel our service.
