I had to call several times to find out when they were going to install the fence. I knew it would take about three weeks, but it actually took a little longer. Nobody ever called me about it, so I kept calling to make sure we wouldn't be overlooked. I finally got a definite answer from Sue and was told that we were on the schedule for a particular day. Nobody ever showed up on the day it was scheduled. I called back the next day to see what happened. Our salesman, Bill, answered and told me that our materials just got there that day and someone would call me the next business day. Nobody ever did, so I had to call them the next day to find out. Someone told me that Frank would have to call me back. He called later and they installed the fenced two days later. Unfortunately, the gate is crooked. I called the day after it was installed and said I'd like it fixed. Bill said he'd "put it on the board", but that he couldn't send anyone out that day. I said it was fine, as long as it was fixed the next week. Nobody ever came over to fix it, so I called later that week. I was told by the person who answered that I'd have to talk to Sue, but she was busy with a customer and to leave a message on her voice mail. Of course, she never called back, so several hours later I called and told her not to expect to be paid until someone fixed the crooked gate. Bill was sent out the next day and, unbelievably, insisted the gate was straight. I tried showing him how crooked it was compared to the rest of the fence. He kept denying it, and proceeded to yell at me. My husband was there and actually had to defend me. Quite a while later, after he'd looked at it and tried to figure out what to do, Bill finally admitted that he did see that it was crooked. He is supposedly sending someone out next week to take a section of the fence out and re-install it properly so that it is no longer crooked. The rest of the fence is perfectly straight and the workers did a great job. Unfortunately, I am fed up with this company and wish I wouldn't have to wait on them to fix this problem. I've hired many companies through all the years I've owned homes and have never dealt with one this unprofessional. These people have given me the run-around since the first day. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. I truly wish I had gone with another company, because I hate knowing I'm paying these people good money, only to be yelled at by a salesman who denies a problem that is right in front of his face. If you're looking for a professional, honest company who treats their customers with respect, do not hire Youngstown Fence.

Prompt and courteous service

I had them come out to give me a estimate, gave me a verbal I asked for a written estimate and they told me it would cost $35 dollars extra.

The work was good and the crew did a great job. It was touch and go there for a while though because scheduling was pretty difficult and I didn't really get along with the owner. They came out when they wanted to basically but that seems to be the case with many contractors. I haven't had to replace a board even once since the installation in 14 years ago though. The wood they used and the construction was fantastic. Their workmanship was terrific - Their attitudes could've been better though. I would consider using them again, but would look around first and if I did use them I would get something in writing clarifying how the job would be completed.

I thought they did a nice job. They were clean and neat. I checked three different fence companies and the prices were all pretty much the same. They came on time and they worked all day; they didn't goof off.
