This was a nightmare from start to finish. If you're a big-money business, you're taken care of. If you're a homeowner without a ton of money to spend, they can't be bothered. The idiot they sent out to do the install said over and over (and over) "I'm not a tile guy," and "tile isn't my thing," and "I'd rather do 100 carpet jobs than one tile job." Needless to say, the carpet went down fine, but he botched the tile job. Big time. Hunks of grout in places, no grout in others. Big gaps in the floors next to walls because the tile wasn't measured correctly. Oh wait - the tile wasn't measured at ALL, if you can believe that. He just "eyed" everything. Even I know that you start laying tile in the middle of the floor and work to the edges. Not this guy. He started at one end and then tried (unsucessfully) to make it work. None of the corners are square, the tiles aren't level (some tiles are higher than others - this is probably because he didn't bother to put a new sub floor down, or even to pull up the carpet staples that were left behind from tearing the carpet out). He used a saw to cut the tile instead of a tile cutter, so the edges are ragged instead of smooth. He cut the carpet in my driveway without anything underneath, and there's big gouges in the pavement. There's much more to this nightmare, but I think you get the idea. I had the salesperson and owners out several times during the install. They ALL told me the job wasn't right and that they would make it right. Wrong. After it was done and it was clear that the entire thing had to be ripped up and started over, all of a sudden it "didn't look that bad." They actually told me it would cost too much money to fix it, and that they weren't going to do anything for me. OK, so I only technically paid for the carpet job, with the $200 deposit I put down - however; I now have to pay someone to rip up the botched tile - to the tune of $100 or more. Ohio Carpet is NOT a member of the Better Business Bureau, nor the Home Builders Association. No wonder. I complained to the BBB and Ohio Carpet sent them a letter stating that I was impossible to please, and wanted everything for free. Please. There are a lot of GOOD small businesses out there for carpet and tile work. This is NOT one of them.

In every instance, the sales associates at the Ohio Carpet Company, Frank, Steve, Jim, Phyllis, Betty, and Diane made the real difference by providing personalized, one on one attention to detail that just can't be found in any of the "big box" retailers. Just walk into the store on Market Street in Boardman and someone is always available to help you ASAP, no waiting around. Have a question, these guys have been in business for over 40 years and if they don't have the answer, then who does? When I am considering whether to place ceramic, carpet, vinyl or just going with a really nice area rug, they'll advise me room by room so that the house will end up looking like something out of a magazine. Their store isn't fancy, no high end advertising, no neon signs, chrome, flashing lights or flashy salespeople. I have shopped the other stores and as far as prices, this company keeps their overhead and profile low and passes on the lower prices to the customer. Their installation crews have always performed AAA and I have never had to call in a complaint. Overall a win win!
Description of Work: Over the years I have had the Ohio Carpet Company of Boardman, Ohio perform numerous carpet and tile installations for my presonal home as well as for rental properties and for re-sale homes.
