In July a sales rep stopped by the house, and we signed on. The tactics were questionable - only today can you receive this discount. The rep explained that within the week the initial service would be done, a month later a 30-day follow-up would be performed, and there would be quarterly visits. He said that the technician would be very thorough, and would spend a long time on the property going through everything with me. The man who performed the initial service was here no more than 15 minutes, barely removed spiderwebs, and didn't follow instructions for the ant hills we had around the yard. At the 30-day follow-up I received notification that my first quarterly visit was scheduled. I called and spoke to customer service because this was not how the sales rep explained the service visits. The customer service rep explained that the quarterly visits began with the first month of service (he didn't call it a 30 day follow-up). He explained that my second quarterly visit would occur in October, and agreed that this was not a full year of service. I wasn't happy, but kept things as they were. At the end of September I received an email that my second quarterly visit was scheduled within a few days. September, not October. Additionally, payment is deducted automatically from my checking account once the service occurs. Payment posted for the visit within minutes of the technician leaving my house on that day in September. Today, two weeks later, I received an invoice for that service, indicating that nothing had been paid, and that there would be a 1.5% finance charge on balances beyond 30 days. I called the number on the invoice and the woman I spoke to indicated that they are trying this new thing where they send out regular mail. She said that it was a way of notifying the customer. She also indicated that they sent the mail that evening, after the visit, and prior to payment being processed. If I wasn't paying attention, I could have paid the invoice two times. There are too many other companies in the area to continue to use Aptive in the future. I would not use them again.

Aptive was recommended to us by our next door neighbor. We called, and were told that both we and our neighbor would get a $30 discount for the referral. We arranged for the serviceman to come out, and when he did, he told us he was going to treat the outside only - not what we had been told. He reasoned that was done for maximum effectiveness. We considered it possibly a ruse, yet we went along with it, but did complain. He said he certainly understood, and would make sure we received a 50% discount on the second treatment. When the second serviceman came out (a different fellow, not the one that swore he had been doing our area for years), the second fellow told us he was (again) only going to treat the outside. We insisted that he do the outside AND the inside. He agreed to. He came in, and treated most of the rooms (none of the upstairs). We were subsequently billed the entire second treatment charge amount (sent by email) - no $30 discount, no 50% deduction. I called to complain, and after a 25 minute hold, finally got through. I told the CSR what had happened, and she said she would talk to her supervisor and get back to me. She never did. The next day, the entire amount was auto-deducted from my checking account, something I was told would only happen on the initial treatment. I called to complain again, was put on hold, and after 20 minutes, was hung up on. That happened a second time. We are currently trying to get out of our account, but their is a contract clause (that we overlooked) indicating a penalty fee. So we are forced to go through the entire 2 year contract. The actual service is adequate at best, but the customer service is atrocious. We will NEVER renew with these people.
