In Jan. of 2013 I called for him to repair my computer. Excellent. No Problems. In Sept. 2013 I called him because my computer had crashed. He offered to pick up a computer for me from Staples and I was under the impression that he was going to get other items. He never informed me that I would be charged for this service before he did it. I live one mile away and could have picked it up myself. He charged me $80.00 to do so. The computer was $629.99, one hour of service @$110.00 an hour plus the $80.00, plus 2.83% because I used my visa card and last but not least tax. Total was $890.65. When I asked for the receipt he has refused to give it to me with one excuse after another. It's not his policy, it has his account numbers on the ticket, per the law he doesn't have to give it to me, would I expect Wal-Mart to give me a copy of what they paid for a computer, and the list goes on. I even told him if his account numbers were on the receipt to black the front and back out and please send it. I have repeatedly asked for it to no avail. Per my Visa company he has to give me the receipt in case there were any warranty issues as I would need it. They will get in touch with him and will get the receipt for me. The reason I questioned again and again for the receipt was not just the warranty issues but when I went to the Staples store I noticed a sign that said the computer was $549.99 and when I went on line the same price. Original price was $629.99 and I am wondering if within the allowable 14 day period after he purchased the computer if the sale started and he went back and got the money from the price match, someone suggested maybe he was tax exempt and charged me for the tax that he didn't pay for, sometimes on the receipt you will receive so much off of something in the future and last but not least you can sometimes use your receipt for a rebate. Visa company's also have a law that businesses cannot charge a percentage fee for using your Visa card but must charge a flat rate. When I get the receipt I will check all of this and if I find any of the above are true I will pursue other avenues to get my monies returned.

Response from Wayne Computer Llc
Summary: The customer has never requested a refund until this complaint; she has only demanded a copy of the receipt from my distributor. She observed a lower price at Staples six weeks after I installed her desktop computer. As a courtesy I revealed my cost structure and directed her to Staple’s website which confirmed the accuracy of the information I gave her. After she confirmed the non-sale price of the computer on the website she stated “I don’t think you cheated me in any way.” Despite agreeing that I treated her fairly, she requested a copy of my receipt from my distributor. I respectfully declined. I informed her that the invoice I gave her on the day of install was her receipt. She insisted she had a lawful right to my receipt from my distributor and began to threaten/coerce me with the Ohio Attorney General, BBB, Angie’s list, and negative word of mouth. She filed complaints with the BBB, the Ohio Attorney General, and a negative Angie’s list review as retaliation. Details: Friday 9/13/2013 she contacted me because her computer stopped functioning. I did an onsite evaluation the same day and recommended replacing the computer. Saturday 9/14/2013 I installed the new computer onsite. I provided an invoice for the computer and service on the day of purchase. The computer is clearly listed by its description and UPC number. Saturday 10/26/2013 I received an email from her stating that she went to Staples that day and saw her computer’s model on sale for $549.00. She wanted to know why the price was different from her invoice. I explained that it was a combination of two factors; the computer had gone on sale since I purchased it, and that there is a markup for the value I added by updating it, installing miscellaneous basic software, and installing antivirus. In response to her email on 10/26/2013 I revealed my cost structure to her as a courtesy and I assured her that there was a significant price drop since 9/14/2013. The price continued to drop from when she saw it on sale in the store to when I saw it on online 10/27/2013 for $479.99. She agreed that the price had changed, and that she was treated fairly. However, she still insisted that she was entitled my receipt from my distributor. I respectfully declined. My total compensation (after costs) for the services I provided was $190.00. My full rate is $110 per hour. For that price I provided onsite diagnosis and consultation of her options. I picked out the new computer, set it up offsite with basic software, antivirus, and I updated it with the latest security updates. I brought the computer onsite and spent 1.5 hours onsite installing it. I provided about 1.25 hours of offsite remote service to restore her email a few days later after Carbonite had restored her files from the internet. I had a second remote session that lasted about 2 hours to get her husband’s email working. I only charged her a heavily discounted amount of $50 for the second remote session. She agreed it was fair and paid the second invoice. There was a third unrelated remote support session where I removed malicious software she had installed for $25. Her request for a refund is unwarranted because I fell within the estimated cost that she agreed to. I had to discount her service significantly to fall within that estimate. She knows my cost of the computer, but I added significant value to the computer before bringing it onsite for the install. If she is can prove she is tax exempt I will gladly refund the sales tax. The credit card fee is allowed to the best of my knowledge. I can only find one limit on Visa’s terms and that is that it can be no greater than 4%. http://usa.visa.com/download/merchants/merchant-category-definitions-credit-card-cost-to-acquirers.pdf Her last email on 11/1/13 stated only “Guess what? My Visa company says differently.” So I am assuming she disputed the charge. I also assume that the dispute wasn’t approved because I was never notified, and that is why she filed these complaints. I only charged her my cost for swiping her card of 2.83%. I told her at the time of install that I needed to charge her the credit card surcharge. She agreed that it was fair and handed me her card and signed for the transaction. I clearly listed it on the invoice.
