My daughter and her boyfriend paid @$5000 for him to drill holes in all her inside walls and hang exposed piping on all her walls. Very expensive, unprofessional and rude. They are very young and were taken advantage of.

Everything started out fine, contract was presented and signed.Details about us purchasing all the supplies were discussed. Dave Scott the contractor agreed we could purchase all the materials provided he could take our credit card to Carter lumber in akron to make those purchases. We complied only to discover that they kept our card number on file, so every time he needed something it was charged out to our card. These purchases ended up including $192.00 in tools that he kept. Work began and all was going well until we asked Dave to install the bathroom fan/light/heater that he asked us to buy. He told us the drywall ceiling was already up and he couldn't install it unless he charged us to replace the ceiling and run a vent for the heat source. I was very irritated that he said this considering the light fixture was purchased on Feb.2 and he didn't start work until the 8th. He put up a really loud fan instead. Then he put stucco on all the ceilings without asking us( we wanted smooth ceilings). He replaced the electric panel box and as a door he put a wood peice up with 4 drywall screws holding it in place, he bought doors for the bathroom, bedroom and office , but he bought prehung predrilled doord so when he cut the doors to fit the handles are only 28 inches from the bottom of the door. Standard height is 38 inches. On his last full day on the job he installed all the floor trim although he wasn't supposed to put them up til the walls were painted and the flooring was in. He had the plumbers install the toilet, sink base and linen cabinet which was to be installed after the floors were put in .When the plumber was hooking up the sink he told me he could hook up the drain plug because the mirror interfered with it, I later found out that they had GLUED the mirror to the wall, who does that? What idiots they are. We had to wait 3 weeks for our "fire" door to come in. Finally they came to install the fire door, only to discover they ordered the wrong door, it opens on the opposite side. Then Dave started giving my daughter a rough time because he was locked out due to her getting ready to leave, he came ito my house through the garage into the basement and was pounding on the door yelling for them to let him in. That he wasn't a stranger, that he knew they were there. She called me at work and I told her to open the door, but to inform him that she needed to leave and they couldn't stay, he told her he was just going to "pop" the door off and he would be outta there. Well, I left work early and when I arrived home 20 minutes later , Dave and his co worker Jack were still there with my garage door open, the door to the basement open, my storm dorr and front door open installing the fire door. When I asked what was going on I received a reply of "what's it look like, we're putting your fire door on. I questioned the piece of wood they were using to make sure the new door frame was flush. I asked if that was their version of a level and they said no it was to make sure everything was flush before they nailed it. Dave then held up a 72" level (which was one of the many tools that we saw on our receipts that I had to drive to Akron to get from carters because Dave wouldn't provide me copies of the originals, when asked for he said they were "his". I said "but they;re on our credit card" and he replied "I Don't care") I said "that must be the one we bought you". He said it came out of his expenses. We then got into an argument over a door knob and both said things we shouldn't have. He finished what he was doing and left after he threw our building permit in the woods. At that point I brought my brother in to help us get finished and when Dave called to say he was coming out my husband fired him.
Description of Work: Don't give this guy access to your credit cards, even though he will bring it right back. Make sure you spell out exactly what you want and don't want as far as design, layout etc. Make sure you lock up your house when no one is home because he will enter with out anyone being there. Make sure you get/keep receipts for everything you purchase because he will make you return things. Stay on top of everything they do, because they will do things you may not want done. Don't let Dave smooth talk you into anything, he likes to hear himself talk and he likes to spend your money Make all payment to his company and not his girlfriend. He's trying to avoid paying taxes on his income. DO NOT pay him in full until ALL his work is done to your satisfaction. We learned all this the hard way.
