Shollers Fence

Many delays in getting the work completed, never would return to take care of shoddy workmanship or to attach pickets which were never attached completely, stopped taking our calls. We finally gave up on them.

Our job got delayed numerous times and then finally was done on June 22, 2017. Two days later a slat dropped off of the fence gate because it was never affixed. One of our dogs could have gotten loose or been injured trying to get thru that opening, so we nailed it on the gate for a temporary fix. Then we noticed more problems including countless big wood splinters sticking out the ends of all the 2x4 braces on the gate. The ends were very roughly cut and not smoothed off at all. Dangerous. So, we've attempted numerous times to contact the company using 2 phone numbers, texting and email. No one has gotten back with us. Seems once they have your money they are finished with you. I just want them to do a professional job on finishing the fence gate so it's not unsafe. Also, the fence gate looks pretty bad because they didn't construct it properly and ended up having to trip the center slat to make it fit, and did a poor job of it.

The price was the cheapest. I didn't have any problems with them at all. Whatever they said they'd do, they were here and they did it. They were the only ones that came out after I called them and were out here within three or fours hours after I called. You can't beat that service. It's a great company. They are down to earth and cleaned up afterwards. They just did everything right. They were in and out by the time your ordered the stuff and wait for it to come in, they had everything done on the big fence (that was almost a half an acre) within in a day/day and half. They did good work.

The price was very reasonable. As a family owned business I thought they did a good job keeping up with I was asking for the fence to be put in spring and every time we scheduled it was rain and raining hard and finally we started in April and finally finished somewhere in the beginning of June just due to the weather alone, but when they came in they got it all done in one day. I have actually recommended them to other people that we know.

IN November of 2013 I went to the property to do some work when I noticed a section of the fence didn't look right. Walking up to it I could see it was starting to lean out to the neighbor's yard. There is a warranty so when I got home I called and talk to Ray who said someone would come to take a look at it by the end of the week. No one came and no one called. As of 06-03-14 I have called 5 or 6 times and e-mailed once to get someone out to repair my fence that is suppose to be under warranty. Now the total length of that section that is leaning is probably 15 to 20 feet and other posts are loose in the ground. One side of the gate is starting to sag in. I have never had such a bad experience with a contractor.

I paid for a $1296.00 8-foot privacy fence to be put up. The installation wasdone incorrectly by piling up cement way above ground level. When the winterground thaw came this spring, all the cement that was holding the fence in theground cracked and fell away causing the fence to lean. It could fall down atany time. I also found out by another fence company that most companies putposts in the ground two feet deep, this company did only one foot and a half.It was put in March 2013, I have a two year warranty on the labor which I stillhave another year for them to come and fix it. I called Ray Sholler and toldhim the problem, he said he would take a look at it and give me a call. Oneweek later I still hadn't heard anything, I called again, he said he was inLexington and would call me on Monday or Tuesday, still no word from him a weekafter that. I have called and called and no answer now. I left messages and noreturn phone calls. I have $1296.00 from a fixed income that went down thedrain and he will not honor the warranty that I have on the fence. It has beenover two weeks after many phone calls and messages, he doesn't return any of mycalls. The labor quality after it was finished was poor and he didn't complywith how I asked for it to be completed. I sent pictures and had a personalmeetings with him showing the way I want it. and it was not done that way. Thelength also was shorter than what we agreed on and someone like this should notbe able to take consumers money and get away with this kind of treatment andpoor quality or work and product.

I found this company on the internet and they promptly returned my phone call and came and gave us a written estimate. They had pictures with them to show us what we were getting but did not suggest any other designs. They were suppose to come and install this on a Tuesday but ran into some issues with their scheduling because of the rain we had the week before. They called early afternoon and said they would be there the following Saturday and proceeded to knock $150 off the bill. We really appreciated how this was handled. When the fence was installed I was a little surprised by how heavy duty this fence is. I might have gone with a lighter weight design if I had known, but the longer we have it, the more I like it. It will probably hold up much better then the lighter weight ones. The crew that came consisted of 3 experienced workers and 1 trainee. The trainee made a few minor errors, but they were quick to fix things once we pointed a few issues out. Overall we are very satisfied. The price was less than others in the area and I felt we got a quality product.
