Jeff claims to have inherited the business from his grandfather whom he states passed away March of 2012 and had owned the business for over 25 years....We can not find anything to document that anywhere. Jeff has a hard time understanding what FIRED means. Jeff has since called asking to settle out of court and it was explained to him ABSOLUTELY NOT, we are looking forward to our meeting in court. Jeff charges for things that he does not do and leaves a very messy work area.
Description of Work: We had the misfortune of meeting Jeff Cook from Caruso Construction because of damage by Hurricane Sandy. Trees fell on our home and contractors were so busy Jeff was the first one that stated he could come right out. This is the order of how it went: 1) Trees fell on home..2) Jeff comes and gives estimate and states he will deal with insurance company so we dont have too..3) Jeff requires deposit to get started while waiting for insurance company..4) Jeff comes out and appears to be working..5) Jeff constantly starts asking if we have recieved money from insurance company yet..6) Jeff states he will be here and does not show for days..7) Jeff charges insurance company for new supplies but re-uses old damaged parts..8) Jeff is great at telling you what you want to hear but terrible at doing his job and even worse at doing it well..9) Insurance adjuster inquires who is doing the work that is really bad quality and informs us we may want to consider firing him and getting a REAL contractor..10) Jeff is fired and Jeff starts claiming he left his scaffolding here and has filed insurance claim for that and it is denied..11) Jeff files complaint with Lake County Sheriff..12) Jeff still aggravating and calls spouse at work 16 times in a 4 hour period, that was just the beginning of the harrassment..13) Jeff files claim in Small Claims Court..14) Countersuit is being filed in Civil Court against Jeff Cook and Caruso Construction..................

all information is false cost of job was 3,000 and i went above and beound for them working and fighting with there insurance. they are mad because they didnt get a new roof from insurance. if i was in the wrong then why would i have filed the law suite? the law suite has to deal with the homeowners stealing my tools of the job. and i started this on my own it has not been around for 25 yrs. there deposit was to cover there deducable that they wanted to pay up front.

This whole experience has taught me a very valuable lesson. Unfortunately it will make it harder for any contractors hiring in with me in the future. If they aren't squeaky clean or have little or no history I will NOT hire them. This contractor seemed to be good at the start, but it quickly soured. My only saving grace is that I was home every day or I would not have known there was no vapor barrier or would not caught the fact that there was no fiber in the first truck of concrete. Jeff says this is all lies? Ask him for his final inspection slip. Ask him why I had to have J n R construction reinstall the J-bolts. Ask him why there are several cracks in the concrete, one of which crosses a stress joint that has felt in it.
Description of Work: Jeff Cook, Owner of Caruso construction was supposed to complete a foundation for a garage for me. We signed a contract on 9-17-2012. he dug the footers, destroying one of my chainlink fence posts. After that, he got the ok from the city to pour them and did. he then set blocks to a height to pour the floor but not completely done. The floor was poured without visqueen vapor barrier even though it was listed on the print that he himself had had drawn. Along with this he poured a 10 x20 apron. he then didn't come back for two weeks. Then he came back, threw some more blocks in place, didn't complete the mortar on them, and installed the J-bolts. The J bolts are too high and out of place, according to the contractors i have waiting to build the garage.( 3 to 31/2 inches to the first threads.) I was told by Jeff that he would be back after the mortar dried, but he never returned. The city of Eastlake sent him a letter giving him ten days to bring the foundation into compliance and he still hasn't been back. It is now 10-29-12 and my foundation still isn't finished. There were numerous beautiful days during this time he could have finished. My back yard around the garage area is a mess with trash from his mortar bags & such. Avoid this company if you can.
