After searching for a basement waterproofer for over a year (!) , we joined Angie's List. We had been pitched by companies that specialize in basement waterproofing only and were tired of the high pressure/sign now approach. Our situation was somewhat challenging in that we have underground springs in our area and our house is set approximately 25 feet below the road surface, bringing lots of water to the front of the house. One side of our basement showed 'watermarks' on both the wall and the parts of the basement that had been framed by the previous owner. The three man crew did an outstanding job. The backhoe operator was very skilled and the team worked quickly but carefully. I watched them work on two occasions and was very impressed. Each day they cleaned up and cordoned off the work area - very professional. We ran into several problems- the existing drain pipe was blocked and needed to be replaced. The original drain pipe was laid in a bed of sand (not gravel!) and this made the trench very unstable. Each time a major problem arose Val would contact me, discuss alternatives and make recommendations. The work was very well done. I feel very lucky to have found this company and do not hesitate to give them highest marks for their knowledge, expertise, courtesy and work ethic. Outstanding!

Good price, extremely courteous and they were very professional. Went out of there way to make sure that there was no un-needed damage done to grass or neighbors property. The crew spent almost an hour of his time explaining to my elderly father-in-law what they were doing to the basement wall and why when he showed up unexpectedly while I was gone. Clean up after job was done was very thurough. Good people.

Their service was okay. I thought that they were expensive. The guy who came out was okay. They were okay to schedule an appointment. Their punctuality was good. I would use them in the future.

I was referred to ABV by our plumber - we had a water leak in the front lawn - we had spent quite a lot of time trying to determine the source of the leak and working with city water turnoffs etc. By the time we got to ABV and they returned our call we were quite anxious to resolve the issue and did not have time to thoroughly price check them. They quoted $3,500 to repair the leak - that seemed very high to me so i asked if they would do a time and materials bid but they said no. I was concerned with the scenario where they find the leak immediately and are done in a few hours and I am out $3500 for an extremely simply repair. I asked if they would make an accommodation if the repair was very simply and they said they would. They appeared on the appointed day and started work ~9:00. The repair was complete and the water back on in our home by 11:00. The leak was in the exact spot we had identified and about 4-5 feet deep - a small hole in the water pipe. ABV had left our property by 12 but left their equipment there as they indicated the inspector would not come until Monday. They came back Monday, met the inspector, the repair was approved, they filled in the hole and left. Not sure how long they were on site but probably 1-2 hours. I called them to inquire about some level of accommodation on the bill given it didn't seem fair to pay them $3500 for 4-5 hours of on site work + maybe 1 more hour of their time spent securing permits. They said no, the price is the price. I referenced the prior conversation regarding an accommodation if it was an easy job and he said it was not that easy and and quot;it doesn't work that wayand quot;. I let some time pass and called the other brother to again request some level of reduction in the price. I then received a 30 minute lecture on how ABV is and quot;in business to make a profit and they have to make some extra on some jobs to make up for the bad onesand quot;. He also noted a couple times that and quot;$3500 is just not that much moneyand quot;. I too am a business owner and understand very clearly that people need to make a fair profit for their work. I asked several times for even a small accommodation on the price and he repeatedly said no. I told him I thought this was just not a fair deal and he said too bad. If he had only knocked a $100 or $200 off the price i would have at least felt they made an effort but it is now clear this is a company run by people that believe it is more important to capture few hundred dollars of extra profit even if it yields a very unhappy customer - in my mind that is bad business and short sighted. I would not do business with this company and recommend you avoid them.

We had flooded twice this spring. I replaced the sump pump and still we had flooding . ABV Contracting came out, dealt with the city inspectors and found a broken drain tile very quickly. They replaced the tile and also modified the way my sump pump removes water. We have had several heavy rains and have had no problems at all.

They price is good. They were lower than the other quotes that we received.

I got a call that someone would come by to give an estimate. I let the caller know that I would only be home until 6pm. I did not receive a visit nor a call.

Mr. Valerio diagnosed the problem and did what he said he would do. He also charged the same price as he had quoted. There are no more basement leaks even after two very heavy rains. I would highly recommend them.

We are pleased. They were very thorough, very courteous and very friendly individuals.

When our water pressure decreased, a plumber and the water department told us there was a leak in the service line near the house. We found ABV Contractors on Angie's List. Cesare and his men responded quickly. They had to remove small trees and brush before uncovering the water line and determining that the problem was not near the house. They instead found that the leak was due to a weak, disconnected coupling at the street. They replaced the coupling with a sturdy replacement part and neatly refilled the necessary excavations. Cesare was very knowledgeable, friendly and kept us well-informed. We most definitely recommend this company for conscientious, thorough and capable service. Nice people. This work was done per request of the FHA inspector when we sold our home. Val of ABV Contractors prepared the estimate and supervised the work. He and his helper were very professional. They were prompt, curteous and kept the job site neat and clean. I would definitely recommend them. By the way, I got two other estimates, both from Angie's list. One estimate was for $3400; the other for approximately $1900.

Professional workers w/ great knowledge, experience and work ethic helped us fix out water problems after 4 years!
