H Jack's Plumbing & Heating Co

I am a disabled American Veteran and a senior citizen on a fixed income and I do not appreciate being taken advantage of by this contractor, H Jack's Plumbing. Also, I have been told of other people in my area that they have had similar situations with this company with at least one resulting in a lawsuit, which will be my next recourse. I will also let the rest of the Veteran community know of this type of workmanship this company puts out. Technician showed up for a furnace no heat. Unit had a 10year parts and labor warranty. Technician stated that this particular part was not covered. Fortunately I knew better and had to argue before not paying. Can't imagine how many people get ripped off from this scam that do not know any better or can't find paperwork.

They showed up about 2 hours after we called them. We had already isolated the issue when they arrived and they validated that the well pump was the issue. When I received the estimate - I was a bit shocked - but it was a Saturday and they were already there - so we let them do the work. The workers were very professional and did the job quickly and efficiently. I did call the home office when I was given the price and was told that the workers were there on a Saturday and that they were on overtime. Being in business myself - I would think they would staff people for each day of the week and not incur the extra expense of overtime and other concerns. The Manager then made the diagnostic price as part of the repair and I was thrilled with that concession. It helped immensly. I still felt it was a bit pricey - but the comments on Angie's list were very good except around price.

They did a good job. They were very thorough and we would recommend them.

Went amazing!!! I will be honest, they were the third company that we had come out to deal with a leak in our second floor bathroom ceiling, but they were the first onces who were actually willing to do the job. We also had a new bathroom exhaust fan installed because the previous one wasn't installed correctly & was loud. I wish I would have called them first. I won't go into the details of what caused the leak except that it appears to be from a prior contractor. Didn't matter H Jack's came in and was willing to fix the mess, even when it meant going through a small opening to get into our attic space to do the work and going onto our high roof. From the people I talked to on the phone, to the rep that came out to check out the job to see what was all involved to the guys that came out and fixed everything for us, everyone was pleasant and professional. The rep that came out to check out the scope of our job warned me immediately when booking that they might not be able to come out on the day we booked if the weather wasn't good (they would have to chalk outside of the house and couldn't do it in the rain). So when I got a call early that morning to reschedule due to weather, there were no surprises because they had advised already of what could happen. When it came to rescheduling they made sure to let me pick another date & time that worked best for me & said whatever works for me, they would make work for them. I had heard mixed reviews about them in the past, but I have to say I was very pleased and will be keeping their number handy for future work.

My husband was the one who dealt with them and they were okay. They just seem professional. They let us know whether it needs a repair. In my opinion, if somebody was just coming in and looking at something, I would think it would be cheaper. I would better get a few more estimate to somebody.

The price was fairly high. The toilet works alright, but sometimes it runs.

I found them through Angie's List, and I had a good experience with them. I've used them several times, but they're not my go-to plumbing person, because I find that they're a little bit high. On the other hand, I had a good experience with them. I've used them for four or five times, but I have another plumber that I normally call. When you call them, they come out very quickly. They're very thorough, and they seem to be very neat. However, I don't like how they handle their prices. In the times that I have used them, I wouldn't say that I had any problems with them. I would use them again if I have to.

They arrived on time but quoted about 50% higher than what we paid a reliable, well-respected competitor for the same product. They also kept trying to get us to buy a tankless water heater, which runs thousands higher than what we needed. Plus I compared their tankless price with other businesses and found them to be the highest price. So after I decided that I needed to talk to my husband, and really didn't like their high-pressure approach so I probably wasn't going to use them anyway, they ended up staying in my house for quite a while...I felt like I couldn't get them to leave. Just before they finally left, and I think after they realized I was probably going to call someone else, they went to the basement to get their stuff. They were down there much longer than I expected. The next morning, I got in the shower to find NO hot water at all (we have 2 tanks, so we should have had SOME hot water). I called another plumber who came out right away and found they had turned off access to the working tank. I can't say for sure it was on purpose, but since they weren't working on that tank anyway, I believe they might have done that to make us panic and get our business. I recommend looking elsewhere for plumbing services.

We walked in to my Mom's condo to find water pouring from a fixture in the kitchen ceiling. We didn't know if it was a roof leak or a pipe leak. Hjack's arrived within 15 minutes of us calling them and determined that it was a pipe leak and that it was originating in an adjoining condo where no one was home. We were unable access to the other condo, even after contacting the Condo Association. Once the water shut-off valve was located in a crawl space connecting two condos, H-Jacks shut off the water to the adjoining condo and that stopped the leak. H-Jacks extremely prompt response mitigated the damage to both condos. They were professional and courteous as well.

H-Jacks has been extremely responsive, prompt, reliable, courteous, and fair in my two experiences with them. They are a very professional organization and I highly recommend their work.

I had a clog in my main sewer line. H Jacks performed a video inspection of the line to find the clog which turned out to be tree root buildup. The snaked the main line to cut out the roots and clear the line. Service has been restored and things are flowing again.

Two plumbers came on 1/2 and did some diagnosis and said they needed to come back with a camera and check the lines to see where the problem was and how the pipes were connected. The charge for the next day was $388 and I paid it on 1/2, in advance. Two plumbers arrived on 1/3 and proceeded to use a camera and some other equipment. They used two different types of "snakes" and repaired a broken pipe outside. After about two hours, they gave me an estimate for another $1,800 dollars of work. After some discussion, and running some water in the sinks it appeared the problem was solved, at least at the moment. They then presented me with a bill for another $323 (which they would deduct from the $1800 job if they needed to come back). They sold me some drain cleaner and said to call if the problem reoccurred. I made a very poor assumption that the work they were doing was covered by the first $388 and that if they needed to do more work they would tell me first so I could authorize it. I did not argue with the plumbers, I am sure they were doing what their company does to generate revenue. Their prices also seemed high. I will say that the plumbers seemed very knowledgeable, cleaned up after themselves and were very pleasant. Needless to say, I will not recommend or use HJacks again.

They are just fabulous. They installed a new furnace for us a few years and we have used them ever since. I have been very pleased.

From the minute we called Jack's, their professionalism was evident. They immediately told us that they could send out a repairman within 2 hours, and even gave us a time window as to when he would be here the absolute latest. The man came all the way from the East Side, and was a consummate professional. I observed him as he pulled apart the unit, and diagnosed the problem, explaining to me each step of the way what he suspected and found. I don't exactly recall (I left the invoice in my garage files), but I think it was a faulty igniter, and he had the part in his van! He also showed me how dirty the inside of the unit had become, and cleaned it out for me. We had some nice 'small talk' interspersed with professional talk about what he was doing. He tested (cycled) the unit for us several times too. As quickly as he arrived, he cleaned up, and we paid him promptly. Never before was I as thrilled to see an HVAC man literally 'save the day' for us! I would, and will call them again in the future for all our HVAC needs!

3 trips each time reveled more that needed to be done. We were getting pressured to do more things. We finally said no more.

The tech came out and looked at lines and said it would cost $327.00 to air test the line plus on top of the $89.00 dollars to come out for service call,which I thought was high to run air through a line. Then tried to talk me into replacing the hole house line for $2300.00 dollars. I see now why this company has so many bad reviews.

They responded promptly, scheduled and performed the work promptly, and did a good job, but the price was OBSCENE!

They were terrible. They said they come out for a free estimate. Once they came out, they give us one estimate and the price kept rising. When we told them we weren't interested, they sat in the driveway while their company kept calling and harassing us. They wouldn't leave us alone. We had the work done by another company.

The job was extensive from the basement to the second floor because I have an older home that had to be brought up to code. The workmen were very professional and respectful. They arrived at work each day on time. They kept me informed of the work that was to be done that day and updated me at the end of the day on the work that would be done the next day. The entire job took about a week, and the workmen were careful before the end of each work day to safeguard the work area so that there would be no injuries during non-working hours. The company was very responsive to every question that I had. The clean-up each evening was excellent. I am very pleased with the work that was performed. Communication was good. They did what they said they would do and even more. After the work was performed, and I had inspected the work and made payment, the company--at its own request, did a walk-thru follow-up inspection with me so that their representative could assess for himself the job that had been done and answer any questions that I might have.

They a great bunch of guys! Everyone is very very nice and they do a great job cleaing up after themselves, they're always one time, and their work always proves of excellent quality!

H-Jack's estimate sounded extremely high to me, so I went to Lowes to check the cost of a replacement Water Heater. Lowes sells a similar 40 gallon gas water heater with a matching 6-year warranty for $346, plus $295 for installation - less than HALF the price H-Jack's quoted! Lowes also had the replacement Gas Valve available for only $60 dollars, but the salesperson at Lowes said a pilot light that won't stay lit is usually caused by a bad Thermcouple. I bought a new Thermocouple for $9.95, and installed it myself in less than 30 minutes. The Water Heater works fine now - for $350 less than H-Jack's wanted to replace parts that weren't broken! Had I not make the effort to do some research, I would have gotten ripped off by H-Jack's. I can't believe the H-Jack's technician didn't check to see if changing the $10 Thermocouple would fix the problem - he didn't even list the Thermocouple on the parts to be replaced in the repair estimate. This is the kind of contractor that gives repair companies a black eye - I would recommend looking elsewhere for plumbing services.

My kitchen sink would not drain so I took the PVC pipes under the sink apart and cleaned them out. Nothing was broken or damaged but I could not get the pipes back together tightly. I called H Jacks Plumbing and was told there would be an $89.00 diagnostic fee. I told Jacks the pipes just needed put back together and he said it would look at them when the plumber got there. The plumber came right out. He looked under the sink to see what needed to be done, looked in a book that he had brought with him and told me it would cost $311.00. I asked "WHAT"? He said he would put the pipes back together and make sure they were tight. I needed the sink working and there wasn't anyone else to call so I said ok. He did replace the trap and he said he cleaned the pipes out a little more. The plumber was very nice, professional, did a good job, and really cleaned the area up when he was done. Everything was finished in about 45 minutes. I said I still thought the $311.00 was too high. He said with the diagnostic fee, the new trap he installed, cleaning out the pipes a little, and it was Saturday evening the cost was correct at $311.00.

Our 40 year old boiler cracked at 6:30 in the morning on Monday. After calling our regular guy and finding out he was totally swamped and couldn't get to us until the following week, we checked Angie's list. We called 4 companies. One told us they could do it in 3 weeks! Another said by Thursday. H. Jack's said we can have it done by tomorrow! Their price was better then we were quoted by 2 other companies. They showed up on time with a 3 man crew. Did the job they said they would, in the time they said they would, for the price they quoted. We had heat by Tuesday night. They in gave us a 2 year service agreement that was quoted for 1 year. I would totally recommend H. Jack's for boiler issues. These guys did a great job!

I made an appointment to get my water heater and furnace checked, neither seems to be working properly. My appointment was scheduled between 8am - 11am. I didn't get a call from the technician until 10:45am, which I didn't hear - the company called back 2 minutes after the first missed call, and they said they would still have the technician come right out. I waited an hour before calling back to find out what was going on, and the woman on the phone said the technician had been dispatched from Euclid (about 30-40 min drive from me) and she would call him and find out where he is and have the technician call me to let me know when he'd be at my house. I waited another 10 minutes and hadn't heard back from anyone, so I called and cancelled the appointment. If he had showed up, the cost to look at the furnace and water heater to figure out what was wrong would have been $89.95
