 + 0 moreI am so incredibly impressed by the amazing work that Richard Mott and his team at American Roofing did for me and my husband! We just moved into a new house in July '14 and that 2014-15 winter, we received interior water damage because our old roof was damaged. It was a nightmare! First of all, let me say that I have never had a contractor be so diligent in returning my calls and emails, and thoroughly answering all of my questions with patience and understanding. Every other roofer and contractor we spoke with would leave us waiting for days, if not weeks and would have us calling back time and time again just trying to get an appointment or to receive a quote. Secondly, American Roofing fit us into their busy schedule and completed the work in literally two business days. Seriously, two business days! In addition, they cleaned up quickly and left no mess. They also brought a trailer with them so when the crew needed to use the restroom they had one in the trailer (no port-a-potty!). This is an extremely classy business, and one that is incredibly rare to the construction industry. Richard Mott, the owner himself, was up on our roof working hard and supervising his employees making sure that everything was done properly and promptly! Not to mention that the quote he gave us was competitive with every other quote we received from other roofers. I honestly can not say enough great things about this Richard and American Roofing! If you want the job done right, go with this honest and caring professional!
Description of Work: Removal of old roof, gutters and gave us an entire new roof with new shingles, new plywood in damaged areas, installed ice guard, new underlayment and installed a new skylight.

 + -1 moreOur house was not going to go one more year without a new roof. They tore off the old roof and installed the new roof. The crew was very professional and prompt. Our house is tri-level. Answered phone immediately, worked promptly. Came in under estimate. Fit us into their schedule. We had not even asked, and he installed a roof vent. tied into the two upstairs bathroom vents, which was fantastic, because there had never been one installed before, and all that moisture was being fanned into the attic instead of outside. . Cleaned up afterwards. It was fabulous, a very good experience, and we have a beautiful new roof.
Description of Work: He arrived on time, took measurements of the house and the barn, up on the roof. He inspected everywhere, and told us exactly what was needed for our roof to pass inspection, if we did go forward with putting the house on the market next year. We wanted new gutters too, and we knew he would have to replace some wood on the barn. He showed us different levels of quality shingles and recommended seamless gutters, and there was two sizes of gutters and different colors to choose. We picked the middle of the road quality shingles and went with the larger seamless gutters, because we knew some of the wet we were experiencing in the basement, was because of the terrible gutters we had. With over thirty years of experience, he circled our choices on his clipboard, and said he would email or drop off a copy of the estimates, one for the house and one for the barn, and when he would be able to fit us into his schedule, if we chose to have him do the work. And he did just that, he emailed us the estimates, which we were very pleased, and unbelievably he was able to start our work two weeks later and told us it would be roughly one and one half week to complete the job. He required half the cost, the day the work started, and the balance the day the work was finished. The pallets of shingles was delivered a couple of days early, and the crew and Mr.Mott, arrived as scheduled, and all I had to do was move my car once or twice. They had one girl on the crew and she knocked on the door the first day, so that I could show them where the outside electrical outlets were. They tore off all of the old shingles on the house first and totally completed it, then they started on the barn. I was able to do my work inside the house, and they just worked and worked until the job was finished, and that was roughly the week and a half, like he said. I liked that they had a small travel trailer with them, where they were able to use the facilities and take their breaks, etc. And they always cleaned up and no nails left behind! It was a really good experience and we knew it was being done right. And Mr. Mott always answered his phone, even when he was on the roof.

 + -1 moreThe job went really well. Mr. Mott and his crew were on time and immediately went to work on the roof. Everyone was very professional and worked as a team. The best part was, they left the place neat and tidy! After the job was completed, I called Mr. Mott twice with questions regarding the roof. Each time, he was very patient and answered all my questions, in detail.
Description of Work: The roof needed some repairs so I called Mr. Mott of American Roofing & Construction Inc. and scheduled an appointment. Unfortunately, we had a terrible storm that afternoon and the roof started leaking so I called Mr. Mott a second time that day. Again, he returned my call promptly and scheduled an appointment for the next morning. Mr. Mott inspected the roof and gave a detailed explanation of the problems. The roof was not that old but the previous roofer did not do such a great job. The roof could be repaired but I really needed a new roof, which I could not afford at this time. A detailed explanation was given to me regarding the repairs and materials needed as well as details regarding a new roof. Early the next morning, proposals, estimates, and references were sent via e-mail. I opted for the repair, which included the following work: shingles and plywood were removed and replaced in one section; ice and watershields were installed, two new soil stack flashings were installed, and the flashing around a couple chimnies was taken care of. This was the second time I used Angie's List and am pleased with the results. In my book, American Roofing & Construction Inc. is a WINNER and I would not hesitate to recommend them.

 + -1 moreRichard Mott was easy to work with, providing a detailed estimate and answering all questions. His pricing was in line with other estimates I received, and he did not try to recommend additional services in order to increase the total cost. He was realistic in telling me when he could perform the work during the busy roofing season and his team arrived on schedule. His employees were hard working, responsible and easy to communicate with. They were very careful and methodical in removing the old roof, cleaning up as they went. The job took two days and when it was completed, the left the yard tidy, shrubs and gardens undamaged. Although I expect this roof to last for many years, I would not hesitate to call American Roofing again for related projects such as gutters.
Description of Work: American Roofing removed the old roof and installed a new roof and flashing on our house with attached garage.

Description of Work: Richard and his crew was so good they wound up roofing a half-dozen 20-year-old homes on the cul-de-sac before they were done with the neighborhood. A 'good' domino effect for everyone involved. Highly professional--clean installation--everything good as new (especially after they discovered a half dozen rotten 4x8 sheets over the family room).

They were right down the middle as far as price goes, they didn't try to sell me extra things. They were honest about me not needing new gutters.

 + 0 moreAnthony's team replaced my roof and gutters in just over 3 days. They were very competitive in their pricing. Anthony great job including working with my insurance company (State Farm) to ensure that things went smoothly with the install and getting coverage for my hail damage claim. Anthony did not try to oversell and provided options for gutter screens that were high quality and fit my budget. The team was thorough, friendly and did a great job of cleanup throughout the effort. He could have easily convinced me to replace areas that I had concerns about - chipped flashing, sheeting under the tiles, etc. - but made recommendations based on the fact that the wood available today is not as high a quality as what was originally installed in my house (built in 1958). Greg was the foreman and did a great job of fixing the routing of my gutters that improved drainage in the backyard - versus simply replacing what was already there. My roof and new gutters look great and I would highly recommend Anthony and American.

 + -1 moreRichard Mott is a great guy. He sends out his e-mails at 6:00 a.m. every day. Customers are always fully informed. He is completely honest. The other roofer said that the entire roof had to be replaced at a cost of $15,000. Richard did a "tune-up" for $500 and said the roof should last 4 to 6 years more. He didn't change his price when replacing the soffit vents required more manpower than anticipated. I didn't remember when I called him recently that I had contacted him two years ago about another problem. He was also completely honest then. He discussed the problem knowledgeably. No high pressure tactics. Nothing was done at that time, but I was impressed.
Description of Work: They did two separate jobs: First, they did a general roof "tune-up." ($500) They repaired damaged shingles, installed new flue stack cover, rehammered protruding nails, caulked, cleaned, etc. Very nice crew. Pleasant. Easy to work with. They cleaned up everything. The second job was replacing the soffit vents ($375). They ran into some unexpected problems with access to the vents, but took care of them at no additional charge.

I am very pleased with the work and the men who performed it, they were pleasant and left no mess. This is the second time this company has worked on my house, they installed a skylight about 20 yrs ago which has never leaked. I would recommend them and have .
Description of Work: The ice on the roof this winter brought down my gutters, soffit and vinyl siding. This was an insurance job covered by my home owners insurance. All of these things were replaced and foam gutters protectors installed. Mr Mott came when the insurace adjusted was here and they worked together on the estimate. The insurance adjuster gave me a check made out to me& American Roofing.

 + -1 moreOverall, this was a bad experience. American Roofing was recommended to me by a good friend. I went way beyond being patient with Mr. Mott. I still can't believe almost three years has passed without a simple job being done. I am not sure what Mr. Mott's real problem was. Maybe I was too small a job. I would not recommend American Roofing.
Description of Work: In 2006 I asked Richard Mott, Owner of American Roofing, to give me an estimate on repairing a leaking sky light. He promptly came and gave me an estimate. He seemed to know what he was doing and made logical recommendations to correct the leaks. I called him within days and told him he had the job. I told him to do his work as soon as possible. I did not ask him for a written completion date commitment. He never came to do the work in 2006. In 2007, I called him again. He apologized for forgetting about our repair. He came over and re-examined at the sky lights and roof. He recommended additional repairs, which I accepted. He developed a contract, which we both signed. Again, I forgot to get a commitment for a completion date from him. The summer and fall of 2007 went by without the work being completed. I called him occasionally to leave reminders that the sky light was still leaking in heavy rain storms and the repair work needed to be done. In 2008, I called him again. He totally forgot about my job. He had a file of outstanding work, but our job was not in it. He probed his computer and finally found a copy of the contract. He promised to get on it right away. I called him about every two weeks for a progress report. Something was always getting in his way. Finally, today (7/7/2008), I called him and he said that he was in a car accident and was falling behind on jobs. He said he was about to call me. I told him I need to work done ASAP. The two of us agreed to cancel the contract.

He did a walk through after job was completed and showed me all the little details that you normally don't see from the street. The crew that came out was professional and very respectable. The company trucks were clean and well kept. He made no compromises or substitutions when it came to the job. He did the job exactly per his quote.

 + -1 moreThere was a small leak and I called them at 7am to let them know, they were out there 20 minutes later to fix it. The owner is a hands on owner working as hard as his crew. I had 4 or 5 other estimates and this was the best. He also had other offers like a 6 ft ice guard when a 3 ft is standard. He also brought about 300 names and addresses of the work he had done in my area.
