The Building Inspector, Moir Home Inspection Srvc

Mike was recommended by our realtor, and we decided to go with him after looking him up on Angie's List. Mike and his son were already at the property when we arrived, and had already begun their evaluation of the exterior. The were very informative, and educated us on every aspect of the new home. The report (provided online, pdf with pictures and notes) has become our "to do" list for the items we did not ask the prior homeowners to address. I am very tankful that we had Mike perform the radon test, as the number came back very high. We had the sellers install a mitigation system, and feel much more at ease. Job well done by Mike and hi son, and we will definitely use them again with any home inspection and/or improvement questions. That's right, Mike avails himself for any questions you have regarding home improvements and projects following the inspection.

Mike and his son were prompt in arriving. He explained to me the process we were going to go through over the next couple of hours in detail before beginning the inspection. He was incredibly thorough. He and his son worked well together - Mike conducting the inspection and explaining everything to me and his son taking pictures and recording everything on a laptop. At the conclusion of the inspection, I felt as though I knew every major and minor issue we will be facing and particularly the ones that we needed to get the seller to address before completing the purchase. Mike had a lot of tips for me, which I appreciated. Mike placed the radon test two days before the inspection so he could pick it up on the day of the inspection. The end result was that we had our test results around the same time as the inspection report. That helped us respond to the seller in a timely fashion. Finally, Mike offered to talk with any service provider regarding his comments about the property in the event that we were having anything fixed. Overall, great service!

MIKE WAS RECOMMENDED BY TWO OTHER FRIENDS. HE HAS INSPECTED OVER 5000 HOMES. I USED HIM IN APRIL 2005 AND GOT OUT OF BUYING A HOME WITH WATER PROBLEMS AS A RESULT. MIKE SPENT ADDITIONAL TIME TO LOOK AT THIS HOUSE ONCE THE WATER PROBLEMS WERE DISCOVERED. HE PREPARED A LETTER DETAILING THE SPECIFIC NATURE OF THE WATER PROBLEM SO I COULD PRESENT IT TO THE SELLERS AND REALTOR. HE MADE HIMSELF AVAILABLE TO ANSWER MY CALLS ABOUT THIS HOME AFTER THE INSPECTION. I JUST USED HIM AGAIN TO INSPECT ANOTHER HOUSE TODAY (HOPEFULLY I'LL BUY THIS ONE) AND HE QUICKLY ZEROED IN ON PROBLEMS WITH THE FURNACE AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. HE HAS GIVEN ME CONFIDENCE OF KNOWING WHAT IS GOOD AND BAD ABOUT THE HOME AND TO ME THAT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY OF HIS FEE. A NICE REPORT WAS COMPUTER GENERATED AT THE END OF THE INSPECTION AND INCLUDES DIGITAL PICTURES OF PROBLEM AREAS.

HE STATED THAT REALTORS HATE TO SEE HIM SHOW UP. HE WAS VERY THOROUGH. HE GAVE US A GOOD EDUCATION ON OUR HOUSE. HE POINTED OUT MANY MINOR FLAWS WE HAD OVERLOOKED. CERTAINLY PLAN ON USING HIM IF WE EVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HOME.

DOES NOT SEEM TO BE QUALIFIED IN ALL AREAS OF HOME INSPECTION. SPECIFICALLY MISSED ROOFING PROBLEMS THAT WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $6,000. HE SAID THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE CHIMNEY, BUT HE MISSED THE MAJOR PROBLEM.
