Description of Work: We needed a 6'X 4' X 27" (H X W X D} solid oak Amish built cabinet cut down in size to repurpose as an entertainment cabinet. We originally bought the cabinet 15 years ago for over $2,000. The reason we wanted to save the cabinet is that it has excellent storage room for our videos, cd's and other materials. This satisfies our needs much more efficiently than any commercially built TV stands. |We looked for someone to cut the original cabinet down to the size we wanted but no one was willing to undertake the job. We finally got ahold of Mr. Handyman Of Cleveland and he came over and looked at the job. He called me back and quoted the price and I agreed to it. Again no one else wanted the job. He sent a man out to do the job and it took about 2 and 1/2 hours. In talking to his employee I stated that there were two matching side cabinets and I knew of no way to utilize the side cabinets so I was probably going to call a local charity to donate them to, because I had no need for them. When he left our house I got a call from his employer that he was interested in the side cabinets due to them being Amish built solid oak cabinets. In the mean time I noticed that printed on the back of his business card was an advertisement that if the job took over two hours and the price quoted exceeded a certain dollar amount that I could request a $25 dollar discount if I requested that discount prior to them starting the job. Which I had not done because I hadn't requested the discount. I brought that to the attention of Mr. Handyman and he said he would pick up the side cabinets in the next day or two and give me the $25.00. When he came to pick up the side cabinets I reminded him about the $25.00. He said he did not have his checkbook with him but the next time he is in our area he will bring his checkbook. I have heard nothing from the man since two months ago. I knew I would never hear from him again, which did not surprise me. He got the two side cabinets for nothing and we had paid over $1000 each for the two side cabinets. Just be careful with this guy and your dealings with him. This did not surprise me but if I ever need something else done, I will not be calling him.

Description of Work: Extremely expensive. Charged me $566,00. $500 for labor to cut down a 6foot high cabinet (solid Oak) to approx. 34 inches high for an entertainment center and charged me $66 dor nails and screws. On the back of his business card he was giving a $25 discount for 2 hours worth of work. Took his man exactly 2 hours to do the work, when I asked for the discount he did not have his checkbook with him. I paid in cash and never saw him again.
