Hofmann Plumbing

We had two visits, one was $175 and the second one was $80. We weren't happy with the second one because they were supposed to have fixed the disposal and when they left, the next day we noticed it was leaking. They had to come back and fix it. We weren't happy with that. They installed the faucet and now, the hot water runs really slow. We asked them about that and they said that there was something else that we could fix to make that better. They didn't sound like they were thrilled and they were expensive. They charge $35 service charge and then they charge $80 an hour. It is a lot of money. We are not really happy with the faucet. The guy who came out was really nice, but wish the leak in the disposal could have been fixed the first time. He said it was different than what he came out to fix. We showed him the leak and he fixed it, but it was not fixed the first time. He had to come back out. We have used them before as well.

They were very prompt, courteous, informative. They were very knowledgeable the entire time they were here. If they could do something in a less expensive way they would. They were very honest.

They are knowledgeable, responsive, and have excellent service quality.

Kept the workplace exceptionally clean during all the tasks

I made the appointment to have this work done while Rodney was doing a plumbing repair job for me on Monday, April 15, 2013. The appointment for replacing the shutoff valves was set up with a two-hour window from 12 to 2 in the afternoon of Thursday, April 25, 2013. Someone at Hofmann's office called me at about 1 PM or so on April 25th and told me to expect the plumber (Rodney) soon. Rodney arrived within 20 minutes. I got out of his way and he went to work and finished the job late in the afternoon. The job went very well and no problems were encountered as far as I know. The new, replacement valve works just fine. Every time I finish a load of wash I close the valve with a flick of the lever. I no longer worry about a massive water leak damaging my townhouse. Yes, replacing my old shutoff valves with a new valve was very expensive ($469.20) but it bought me peace of mind.

pete quoted the job and we accepted. he arrived when promised and began work. he got much of the work done himself. he called for other workers to help with running the line outside the house. this was done on the first. on the third, he returned to install the logs in the fireplace. he tested the unit several times and answered all our questions regarding the installation. he was true to his quotation. we are very satisfied. he even repaired a kitchen faucet at no charge. we have used hofmann plumbing many times in the past from ball valve shut-offs in the basement, sump pumps, snaking drains, installing faucets and a garbage disposer. we couldn't be happier with the company.

I called Hofmann Plumbing on Friday, April 12, 2013 to make an appointment to have the plumbing work done on Monday, April 15, 2013. The appointment was set up with a two-hour window from 12 to 2 in the afternoon. Someone at Hofmann’s office called me at about 12:35 PM on April 15th and told me to expect the plumber soon. Rodney arrived at ~12:50 PM and was finished by 3:30 PM. The job went very well and no problems were encountered. But where Rodney really shined was when he patiently answered all of my plumbing questions. He was very helpful to me and cleared up some plumbing issues for me. I really appreciated it and what he told me may very well bring more business to Hofmann Plumbing from me in the future. The only negative comment about Hofmann Plumbing I would have would be that on Friday, April 12th when I made the appointment I specifically asked for a plumber by the name of Rich. Rich had installed my hot water heater and had done a great job so I wanted to have Rich do the plumbing repair. She said that would be fine so I expected Rich to be the plumber and was dismayed when it was Rodney and not Rich. As it turned out Rodney was every bit as good as Rich but I don’t like it when I asked for a specific plumber and they sent another one after telling me that Rich would be the plumber. This is the second time this has happened to me with Hofmann Plumbing and I don’t like it. The next time I make an appointment with Hofmann Plumbing and request a specific plumber and they agree to provide a specific plumber and that plumber is not the one that comes to my townhouse I will turn him away. I will warn the office staff at Hofmann Plumbing that if they don’t provide the plumber that I request that I will turn the plumber away at my front door. I felt I had been lied to when promised a specific plumber, which Hofmann Plumbing agreed to on two previous separate occasions. I did not penalize Hofmann Plumbing in its overall score but docked them a little for professionalism.

We chose to go with Hofmann Plumbing based on another Angie's list review where the person said they had called 3 different plumbers before Hofmann told them they would NOT have to tear out a wall in the event that things went south. I called on Monday at 1:00 p.m. and spoke to Laura. She said she could have a plumber out that afternoon. She said she would call us when he was on the way. 'Rodney' showed up at 2:30 p.m.. He was very polite and put on footies so he wouldn't track dirt through our home. He inspected the shower and sink and explained what he thought the problem was. He didn't seem to think it was going to be serious. The shower drain was snaked. He showed me the huge amount of hair that came up. It could have filled an 8 oz glass (this was from the previous owner). He advised us to use a strainer in the drain to prevent problems in the future. I am very pleased that my plumbing issues were able to be resolved the same day at a reasonable cost. I will use Hofmann Plumbing again.

DID AND EXCELLENT JOB. I WOULD RECOMMEND AND WILL CALL AGAIN IF NEEED PLUMBING WORK IN THE FUTURE.

Pete, the owner of Hofman Plumbing, arrived at the time scheduled. He was neat, clean and very professional. A high-quality plumber. He showed me several models of sump pump we could use. He removed the old pump (and didn't make any mess) and replaced it with the agreed on model. He tested the unit and took care of the other tasks. We have used this firm in the past and have always had the best experience with them. They are wonderful plumbers and charge a fair price.

Chad arrived on time was friendly and finished quickly and did a great job.

I called on Hofmann years ago at my old house when they were the only plumber (out of 3) to say they could fix a plumbing issue in my second floor bathroom WITHOUT cutting out my ceiling below to gain access - and they were able to! The work they did for me recently as listed above looks fantastic. The new plumbing lines they installed for my washer, dryer and utility sink are straight and secured to the walls. You can tell by looking at the work that Hofmann cares about their work. All the valves work flawlessly and very easily. Regarding the work outside with the downspout drain, they actually had to scope the existing line to locate the problem and called me to keep me in the loop as to the potential up-charges for replacing the line. I appreciate their communication! They hand dug the old line up and replaced it and put everything back in place as if they were never there. They were able to do this work without me being there and simply mailed me their invoice. I would not hesitate to call Hofmann in the future.

ALL WENT QUITE WELL!! WILL CONTINUE TO USE THEM IN THE FUTURE.THINK IT WOULD BE NICE IF THIS COMPANY OFFERED SENIOR, OR ANGIES LIST DISCOUNTS.

rodney arrived at 2:10, we were promised between 2-4. installed new disposer, faucet and two ball valve shut-offs in the kitchen. cleaned up after and left do debris. we have used hofmann many times for various jobs. always happy with the workmanship and the pleasant people that work for them.

The toilets had not been operating properly for some time. The problems were intermittent however and I have been tolerating these problems. Finally on January 14, 2012 one of the toilets wasn't refilling at all after flushing. I procrastinated for a few days and finally called Hofmann Plumbing on January 17, 2012 and made an appointment with them to do the toilet repairs the following day, on January 18, 2012. The appointment was set up with a two-hour window from 2 to 4 in the afternoon. Someone at Hofmann's office called me at about 3:05 PM on the 18th and told me to expect the plumber soon. Chad arrived at 3:30 PM and was finished by 4:30 PM. The job went very well and no problems were encountered. But where Chad really shined was when he patiently answered all of my plumbing questions. He was very helpful to me and cleared up some plumbing issues for me. I really appreciated it and what he told me may very well bring more business to Hofmann Plumbing from me in the future.

They are very efficient and neat in the way they do their work. Their price was fair; it was competitive. I have used them about five times. Every year I have some occasion to call them out. I am happy with them. I would use them again.

The technicians who replaced our gas boiler last week noticed (after arriving on-site) that water was dripping besides the main stack onto the basement floor - we had just taken our showers. Looking up through the floor space, we noticed (old) water stains on the wood. This leak had been going on for some time and we didn’t know it.Without hesitation, we decided to call Hofmann Plumbing. After all, they were the one who replaced our water heater with a new Rheem unit in 2005. They did a marvelous job considering the tight space they had to work with (our home was built in 1919). So, we called them last week, they scheduled us for today and came when they said they would. The plumber who installed our water heater in 2005, namely Rodney, was the plumber who was assigned this service call (lucky us). He wasted no time to diagnose the source and location of the leak on the (original) cast iron stack. He clearly stated what would be involved to fix the problem. And while I suggested the possibility to replace the entire cast iron section of the stack (running all the way down to the basement floor), he said that it wasn’t necessary since, in his opinion, lower portion was still in very good condition. Before opening the wall on the kitchen side to access the pipe, he carefully disconnected and moved our gas stove. After he had a clear vintage point, he could determine exactly what material he needed. He left briefly to get the right supplies (clock stops!!) and as soon as he returned he got to work. He was great at showing close-ups of the problems. This was a tough job and dirty job but ultimately, the work was done right (a couple of ‘not-to-code’ issues were rectified along the way). Rodney finished in the time and within the $$ amount he had verbally quoted before starting. He was very methodical, efficient, and extremely polite and cleaned the work area after the job was completed. Thanks Hofmann! You guys did it again. Conclusion: We’re sure to be happy with the work and oh! so relieved. Plumbing should always be done right the FiRST TIME.

They were the most professional and reasonable quote that I received. I ended up using a friend of mine for the work but I appriecated Hofmann Plumbing.

If you call them, they will come out right away. They are reasonably prices and the people who come out are nice. They do the job and don't mess around. They clean up nicely.

The flapper valves had been leaking for quite some time and I have been tolerating the periodic sounds of the toilets running to refill the toilet tanks. Finally on April 1, 2011 one of the toilets started to “run” more often and became very annoying. I called Hofmann Plumbing and made an appointment with them for Rich to do the toilet repairs on April 4, 2011. Rich had replaced a hot water heater for me on July 25, 2008 and I was very happy with the job he did and his professionalism so I specifically requested that he be the one to repair my toilets. The appointment was set up with a two-hour window from 2 to 4 in the afternoon. At 2:03 PM Rich arrived. He looked at both toilets and immediately determined they only needed to have new flapper valves. The job went very well and no problems were encountered. But where Rich really shined was when he patiently answered all of my plumbing questions and they were relatively numerous. He was very helpful to me and cleared up some plumbing issues for me. I really appreciated it and what he told me may very well bring more business to Hofmann Plumbing.

Very good overall, Rodney was pleasant and professional, put boot covers on, and took care of our leaky tub quickly. I will be calling Hofmann again to replace that main valve, and will request Rodney again.

We used them a couple of times. They installed one of the toilets that doesn't use much water. When we moved here in the 1960's they were the only ones here and we have kept using them. We've never had a problem and if they couldn't do the work, they would recommend someone who could. They are dependable and do the job and send the bill. They explain everything to you. They are very nice and friendly. They don't look down to us because we are seniors. They talk to us as if we had a mind. Some people think you are stupid once you hit 80 and we have a mind. We have nothing to complain about. We pay what they ask and don't know about other prices. We think they are reasonable. If we need plumbing again we will go to them. They are responsive. They usually come an hour or so earlier than they say they will. They are professional.
