Description of Work: A project manager examined the roof carefully on 7/11. A very detailed contract was offered for either just roofing or a tear-off and roofing. On 7/24 I signed for just roofing. Despite a very rainy month in the interim, a large crew arrived on time, at 8a.m. on 7/28 and did a terrific job of roofing and a very careful cleanup of all debris, nails, staples, etc. They left at approx. 11:30. I couldn't be more pleased.

Description of Work: We had a new roof put on our house. The quality & look of the roof is very nice. Clean-up was good and care was taken to cover our window's during the tear-off. Everyone was very nice & friendly. We were not pleased with the amount of time that passed when we were waiting for return phone calls or getting dates set for the job. They were busy on other jobs but it made it hard to plan to be off work when they would be here. Also, a vent was supposed to be installed that wasn't done so they had to come back for that which was another appointment. We also had to have another appointment for guys to come back out to put back some siding & trim that had to be removed when they replaced sheets of wood on the roof. We didn't need to be home for that appointment though. The entire job completion took a little longer than we thought it would. We also think the cost was a little high. We did have 2 layers of shingles to be torn off and all the wood had to be replaced which was a big job. They did a good job on everything they did however.

The experience went as well as possible considering my insurance company was not as cooperative as Brad Smith Roofing Co. and I would have liked. Brad Smith Roofing Co. did everything he/they possibly could do to help with this matter. Mr.Smith and the roofers/workers were very professional and kept me informed about the progress of the roof. The roof looks very nice and the job was completed without any problems and to my satisfaction.

Description of Work: Full tear off and repair of some areas that previously held exhaust fans or some weather damage. This company is very well trained and considerate from the top down. We were scheduled for May, but when one of the fan covers blew off in April, they took over and did the job earlier. They kept in touch daily and fulfilled all our requests. The results are quite beautiful and the cleanup was excellent.

Description of Work: We called Brad Smith Roofing in the Summer of 2012 because our roof was leaking. It had been repaired in the past by another company, but that ""fix"" was no longer working. The salesman determined that the original layer had been installed wrong and the subsequent 2 layers had followed that causing parts of the wood underneath to decay resulting in holes in the wood. We signed a contract in August 2012 to have them tear off the back half of the roof (the part if the house that had been shingled wrong) and replace any rotten wood and cover with a new layer of shingles. They were also to remove the top of a chimney that was not connected to anything inside the house. We sent in the deposit of approximately $600+ (one quarter of the total) at that time. The check was cashed by them on 8/31/12. They did not complete the work until 11/10/12. During that time, the salesman did come out at one point and place a tarp over part of the problem area at our request because the leaking was so bad. He told us it would just be a couple more weeks at that time, but it was more like a couple of months. Since we misplaced his cell number, we had to call the main office and ask Jeremy when they would get around to us. I don't recall the exact dates, but there were at least 2 or 3 times we were told that they ""should get to you next week if the weather holds up."" We would go through entire weeks of sunshine and expect to see roofers show up and no one would. No phone call to let us know why either. Finally, when Hurricane Sandy hit at the end of October and we had water coming in not only the ceiling, but the walls too, we demanded that they take care of their end of the contract. It still took 2 weeks after they, but they finally showed up on a Saturday. They put a dumpster in our driveway and proceeded to get the job done. They started around 10am and must have finished before 4 because when I was leaving around that time there was no one to be seen and the roof appeared to be done. The dumpster was still there and no one told us what the plan was for it to be removed (it was picked up the following Monday). The next morning, our neighbor came to the door carrying a garbage bag full of roof debris he had picked up from his yard. He said he had asked them while they were there if they planned to pick it up and they told him they would when they were done, but no one came over and got any of it. At the start of the job they had explained how they would keep all the trash on our side and put it in the dumpster. Apparently they didn't do that. We called the cell phone of the salesman (had found the number) and complained to him. My husband also noticed they had not installed the downspout we had asked for (we later discovered that it hadn't been in the contract even though it had been discussed on the sales call - out mistake for not catching that) and they hadn't even put back the old one. So he bought a new one and while on the roof installing it, he reached into the gutter in the roof above that section and found that the old downspout had been shoved into there to get it out if their way. Had he not found that and removed it, it would have caused that gutter to overflow. A couple of weeks later they told us was that one of their inspectors had taken a look and saw that they had done the edges wrong and they needed to fix them. On 11/23/12, some guys showed up at our house and spread a tarp in the driveway and climbed up on the roof. They didn't ask us to move our cars back or anything. While the guy was up there it started snowing a bit. So he left quickly (I assume he finished the job first). The next day when I looked in the driveway I found half a dozen nails lying there without even looking. Several more have been discovered in the weeks since. Luckily, so far none have been found in our tires. The invoice for the remainder was dated 12/11/12 and we received it within a couple of days. A week later I got a message that they had called to see when we expected to pay the invoice! What horrible customer service. When we were waiting for them to do the work we wouldn't hear from them for 3 weeks and then only if we called them. But the minute they want their money we get a phone call. I will be waiting until the last minute possible (they charge interest after a month) to pay them. Hopefully their workmanship is better than their customer service. Unfortunately, it could be years before we would know if it isn't.
