Due to the recent storms, they are scheduling into October right now for estimates, and we need someone sooner than that. Cindy recommended calling the Building Dept in the city where the property is located and getting a list of contractors through them if I have trouble finding a contractor who can help us more quickly. I appreciate the quick response as well as the helpful information. I will try them again in the future if the need arises. After dealing with contractors of all sorts over the last few months I value the professionalism Brad Smith provided.

Description of Work: To be clear, Brad Smith Roofing has not yet performed this work. Someone from their office came out in April 2011 to give us a quote. It took nearly a month for that quote to be turned over to us. Since then, we have called a dozen times to schedule workers to come out and complete the job. No one seems to know how to return phone calls. The last time we DID talk to someone, we were promised that they would be out Mid-August to start the first phase of the construction. No one showed. No one called. Nothing. We have a clay-tile roof and our choice of roofers is limited otherwise I would find someone else to do the work. I have been repeatedly disappointed, frustrated and angered by Brad Smith Roofing. If you have a traditional roof that can be repaired by anyone else (e.g. another company, the Amish, wandering homeless people who will at least show up) -- my recommendation is to go with them instead of Brad Smith Roofing.

 + -1 moreThe office staff at Brad Smith Roofing as well as the site crew were all competent, respectful, and very personable throughout the entire process. Every effort was made to make certain that we were satisfied with the job as it evolved. While on the job, we were repeatedly impressed with the thoroughness, attention to detail and over-all skillfulness of Don and his crew. As crew chief, Don periodically took the time to relate to us what had been done so far and what would be happening next. These guys all worked very hard for two long days. A quality job was completed by quality workers. We love our new roof and appreciate every effort that made it happen!
Description of Work: We contracted with Brad Smith Roofing to have our chimney repaired, our old roof torn off and re-covered with all new materials, the old cupola removed and replaced and our gutters replaced.

First, in the initial estimate (that was well done) they included a provision that said their may be an additional fee for slates broken during the work. At the end of the project the final bill was 61% higher than the original estimate. Secondly, I have attempted to call them twice and I received no response. On the third call, they noted my complaint and did nothing more.

 + -1 moreAfter receiving estimates from 4 companies we chose to use Brad Smith Roofing. This was definitely one of the best projects we have had done on our home. Josh Henry the salesperson was prompt for both appointments. He was very knowledgeable about the product, took his time explaining all the options and details along with the warranty information. The crew was outstanding. They were all on the move from the moment they left their vehicles and did not stop until the roof was done and a very very thorough clean up of the entire yard. They took great care in protecting windows, shrubs and gutters. Work was completed in 1-1/2 days and looks fantastic. We have had several storms since and no leaks or issues. We highly recommend this company and would use them again.
Description of Work: New roof with complete tear off of old roof on ranch home and detached garage. Replacement of wood over 15' x 30' area. All new flashing, drip edge, ice and water shield and valleys. Installed baffles, 1 power vent and 1 damper vent.

I would have appreciated if they asked me about the job over the call itself. I was later made aware that, they do only a whole flat roof. I will not use their services in future.

This was the first time I've used them. I also had them quote me on a chimney job but I went with another company for that work.

They told us what the estimate was. They said when they would be out, weather-permitting. They came in a timely manner, did the work, gave me the bill, and that was it. I didn't do a lot of comparing, but the price seemed pretty reasonable to me.

 + -1 moreBrad Smith Roofing was very responsive and professional when I contacted them. I was able to set up an appointment very quickly, and Brett came out to examine the leak. Brett was very professional and helpful. The only problem I had with Brad Smith Roofing was that their estimate called for a large scale roof repair when it appears only a minor repair was necessary. Brad Smith Roofing explained that the large repair was necessary to ensure that the problem was taken care of correctly, so it was a difference of opinion on the scope of the project. I would certainly recommend Brad Smith Roofing for large scale roof repairs or installation of a new roof.

 + 0 moreThey did an excellent job with the ice stand removal. They were very prompt and very professional. They came in with an estimate of over $6000 with no upper limit for roofing. We got an estimate from another roofer that was for $3500 and another estimate that came in at 3200, who was not on Angie's List. It was a pretty significant price difference. He pointed out some things and had some ideas about how to address some things. He was not a native English speaker and his estimate was not as precise as some of the others. In fact he gave us the sketchiest estimate. Brad Smith gave us a two-page estimate and the others gave us a one-page estimate that was much more detailed. He knows his stuff. I think they have a big crew, and I was impressed with them. I have confidence that they do great work. However, we opted not to use them for roofing because of their high price.

We made a contract with them couple of months ago and they are going to be starting the work pretty soon on the new job. Their work was excellent and they were excellent as well. They were prompt, explained everything and cleaned up. The materials were real good. It was very comfortable to work with them. They did it quickly and they were very good.

There were some timing issues, but I really can?t complain about it because this was an area that was hit and everybody was getting their roof and siding done. I just had to be patient because there were so many jobs being done. I have no problems with anything that was done. I spent around $40000 on that work. I did not really shop around because it was an insurance claim.

 + 0 moreHighly recommend this company - we had an older roof and were having water issues. They did the tear off in an amazingly short period of time (a huge crew focused on the task) and then noted that there was damage to the wood underneath (we'd suspected that would be the case.) The change orders were handled quickly and effectively and then the house and the back addition were re-roofed. The gutters were done a week or so later. We are very pleased with both the work (including the cleanup) and the results. We would use them again and would recommend them.
Description of Work: Complete roof tear off (main house - shingled roof and backroom addition - flat roof), wood repair, gutter installation (with gutter shields).

 + -1 moreBrad Smith Roofing seemed to be very busy with recent hail damage jobs so it took a number of calls to get someone to call me back to make an appointment. Once they came out to view the work, it took more phone calls to get an estimate. Once I got their estimate, it was very complete with a lot of detail about what work that they would perform. Despite their good reputation and the quality of their estimate, I decided to go with another contractor because of their price. Their price was almost twice the price of my lowest bidder and significantly higher than the next highest bidder.

 + 0 moreThe job went very well. I have only one minor complaint and that is, I had to go around the yard and driveway with a magnet to pick up the many gutter screws left there. I did pick up 62 of them which would have been a real problem it one had gotten in my auto or lawn tractor tires. that would be my only complaint. other than that the job was excellent and the workers were excellent.
