Services we offer
Complete drain & sewer cleaning service, including downspout/sump pump line repair & installation, video camera inspection, recording & locating.
Our three-year old kitchen sink disposal and pipe had become blocked. We called a major plumbing company and had to wait about 5 days for service. Unfortunately, after this wait, the company was unable to remove the blockage because their drain snake was too small (so far, they have not billed us for the visit). The plumber recommended The Drainworks, whose coupon we already had available from a recent Angie's List publication. Their service person came the next day and did a quick and competent removal of "sludge" with excellent clean-up. Bottom line: if you use your disposal you will eventually have a problem, so make your first call to The Drainworks!
Description of Work: Removed sludge from the kitchen disposal and pipe.

This company was recommended by Jack L. Woods Plumbing, after they came out and were unable to unclog the drain beneath my basement floor. My laundry sink and air conditioner condensation drain pipes had been backing up, because the main basement drain wasn't draining well, and they said The Drainworks would have better equipment to unclog this larger drain. A repairman from The Drainworks showed up promptly and gave me a very thorough explanation of everything he was doing. He was able to fix the clog and gave me recommendations about how to minimize future clogging. My only disappointment is that, as some other reviewers have commented, he did leave a mess and left dark, greasy wheel marks on the carpeting from his equipment when he took it down and up the basement stairs. It was extremely difficult to remove them. Otherwise, I was satisfied with the work performed. If I used them again, I would request upon scheduling the service that they protect my floors from their equipment.

Their technician arrived promptly at arranged appt. time and let me watch the tv screen as each drain was checked with a camera hose line to look for blockages and check condition of drain pipes from the street to the house and also ran the camera down one drain by the front porch out into the yard to see where it connected into the street line. I liked being able to see on the tv screen what condition each drain was in as the technician was using the camera line. He took his time and was very thorough. I was happy that no problems were found as we do have a tree growing very close to one of the underground drain pipes. The technician did recommend that our downspout and sump pump risers needed replaced as they were cracked and/or broken and were allowing debris to enter the underground drain lines which may eventually cause a clogged drain.
Description of Work: Ran a camera line along 3 separate drains from the street to the house and one drain from the house to determine where it hooked into another line to the street to see if any were clogged or broken.

From a prior visit from The Drainworks it was recommended that we replace our cracked and/or broken risers on our downspouts and where our sump pump comes out of the house to avoid debris entering and possibly clogging the underground drains. Their technician arrived promptly at arranged appt. time and worked efficiently. He checked with me when he had a question about how I wanted one of the downspouts extended by the front porch as it had been sticking out crooked and explained how he could replace the riser to make the downspout straighter than it originally had been. I agreed and when he was done the downspout looked so much better than it had prior to the work being done. He did have to dig up the ground on one corner of the house as the downspout and underground drain did not even connect anymore due to ground shifting over the years. He only dug up as little as he needed to replace the riser and replaced the dirt when he was done. Their technician was also very careful around my perennials and rose bush that were close to another riser that had to be dug up to be replaced and he did not cause any harm to my plants. The technician knocked on my door when he was done and walked me around the house to inspect each replacement to make sure I was satisfied and he did not leave a mess. I was very satisfied.

Technician came out within the scheduled appointment window. He spent about an hour working to unclog the drain using multiple methods/tools: hand, shop-vac, small snake, then finally a large snake. He was able to get the large snake through a few feet, but kept hitting roots and eventually determined that the line collapsed. He also used the hose to test the spout to ensure that there was at least a little drainage (before the service call, there was absolutely no drainage - water spewing each time it rained). He gave recommendations for which downspouts could be extended above ground and which lines would likely need to be run underground. The boss will come out a later this week to provide an estimate for the underground line. Overall, I felt that the technician put forth an honest effort in his attempt to unclog the drain and that the price was fair.

I had what I thougth was a clogged underground rain water PCV pipe. Drainworks came in with their pipe camera & after examining all of the pipes discovered that I had crushed pipe. They dug up the pipe, replaced it, & repaired the ground & mulch so that it wasn't noticable that they had made the repair.

Not sure of the results yet. All I can say is they left a mess. While it may not be part of the service to clean up an existing mess (which was minimal - we are talking a 5x5 area) they should certainly not leave a bigger mess than when they arrived (at least 8x8). The technician left a large amount of additional drainage/sewage which he tracked through the basement, up the stairs and into the upstairs hall. He made a comment he found some cardboard to stand on so he wouldn't track it - what? Is he looking for random cardboard in my basement? Where did it come from? It was two small thin pieces - I don't know what they were or where he got them from - but they were soaked in sewage. He left a "target" bag (where did that come from??) full of sewage that he got from the pipe on the basement floor. The house reeked when he left. Is this standard? Maybe I am missing something here......

Initially, I was pleased. They addressed our needs quickly and took care in ripping up new sod and digging the trench on a Monday. Unfortunately, problems arose when the yard had to be watered. We were not told to keep the area dry so the dirt and sod were wet. The workmen were angry and stated they could not work until it had dried out. They returned on Friday one worker was angered by the suggestion/question if the work would be completed by noon so another worker was dispatched. He replaced the pipes but did not have time to fill the trenches. At this time, I was told that Drainworks was over time they allotted for this job and had to move on to other jobs. They would try to return but could not make any promised. So now I have 20 feet of trench in my backyard with dirt and dying sod around it. My husband was bale to fill in most of the dirt but unable to tamp it down as we do not have the tools. I called Jeff the following Tuesday and he said once again the company was over the time allotted and his men had other jobs to get to. He would try to send someone out but again he cannot spend any more time on this project. My husband called and he had a heated discussion regarding the completion of the job. Jeff claimed it was our fault for watering the yard therefore he was not responsible for the delay and would commit more time. We paid them on Friday believing it was a good faith gesture and that they would return. BAD DECISION. Someone did show up and laid the now dead sod on the piles of dirt. That is all Drainworks will do. I now have a 20 foot mound in my backyard with dead sod on it. Next time, I will wait longer for a more professional company. We had a great deal of work done this summer and every company we hired worked so hard until the job was complete. No one every told me I had run out the clock. I have had to wait for other companies to show when a previous job ran over. Drainworks's refusal to complete the job due time is a new experience for me that I will not repeat.
Description of Work: Our under ground gutters were not draining properly and had been crushed during previous work by another company. Drainworks came in and diagnosed the problem, dug a new trench, replaced the pipes but did not complete the work which required filling the trench, tamping down the soil and replacing the newly laid sod.

Response from The Drainworks
This is a good lesson to anyone reading..Do NOT water an open trench. Especially if people are digging in it. It turns into a mud pit. When we went back on the second day and found the trench was watered, we told them it would have to dry out and we would come back. They apologized and understood..No one was angry. We went back out after it had dried out to finish the work. They did ask that we try to have it done by noon if possible (it was not). Again, no worker was angry. We pulled one off to move onto another job (he worked until he had to be at another job), and called in another to finish. At this point, the job went from being a 6 hour job to a 12. We did not charge any extra for the additional time it took. At the end of the day on Friday, the trench needed backfilled and sod relayed. They said they would take care of it over the weekend, and apologized again for watering and making the job take longer. We told them to call us if they couldn't get to it, and we would come back out. They called us on Tuesday and asked about sod, we told them that they would have to go to a nursery and get new sod if it was dead. They then waited until Thursday to call us back out. We went out on Friday and backfilled and relayed the sod. Nothing could be watered at this time, due to them turning the hose off from inside the house.

We had the waste line from the kitchen sink block off downstream of the tie in for the HVAC drain in the basement. As a result, water was backing up into the basement through the HVAC drain in the floor of the basement every time we used the kitchen sink. I had originally called JA Myer since we had used them before. But after a discussion of my problem, they told me Drainworks could do it faster and cheaper. So I contacted Drainworks. Rob, the person answering the phone was very personable and professional, and set me up for an appointment the same day. Drainworks came out on time, and the tech, David was simply great. Nice guy, very competent and skilled. In thirty minutes my problem was solved and he finished the job by wiping up the small amount of water (spilled on the basement floor) on his hands and knees with a rag. The price was reasonable and I would definitely use them again, especially if David came out.
Description of Work: The job they performed was snaking the kitchen waste water disposal line.

Very well indeed--we couldn't have asked for better service. Jack L. Woods has done work for us several times over the years (including new gas hot water heater), and the Drainworks service was also excellent. Jack L. Woods was able to come earlier than scheduled, which was fine for us. The Drainworks truck, happily, was already in the neighborhood, and so the work on the clogged drain could begin right away. After four attempts with the snake, black sludge was still backing up; but the plumber kept at it, and eventually, with a swoosh, the pipe was clear.
Description of Work: We had called Jack L. Woods to install a new kitchen sink faucet for us; the installation was expertly done, and when the plumber ran the water to test the new fixture, he discovered that the drain was clogged. (The kitchen drain pipe extends some 15 feet or so down to the main drain). His schedule that Monday morning did not give him time to snake out the line, but he recommended the Drainworks--we called right away, and the Drainworks truck came into our driveway about a half-hour later. And the clog proved stubborn--it took nearly two hours to finally get it clear. The plumber recommends having that kitchen drain snaked out every five years, which makes sense, given it's heavy use (with sink disposal). White vinegar periodically helps clear food particles, etc. Chemical products not recommended, despite claims they are safe for metal and plastic pipes.
