 + -1 moreMy door and my opener were wearing out due to age. I decided to replace them both. The first company I called set the appointment, and then did not show. A friend referred me to Suburban. Jim was able to come out the day I called, and we discussed my options. He suggested that I purchase the opening mechanism myself, so that I could avoid the handling charge. He set the installation appointment and called to confirm that he was coming out that day. He was friendly, polite, cleaned up well, and was very professional. He explained my new door and opener completely, and the job came in $100 less than the estimate the 1st company gave me. I would recommend them.

 + -1 moreWe bought a heavy duty Craftsman garage door opener. Suburban came out and did a wonderful job installing it last November. They were very nice, professional, and helpful. A year later, it is still working like a charm. We will recommend them to everyone.
Description of Work: We had an old Genie garage door opener that was loud enough to wake the neighbors. Suburban Doors came out and gave us a $90 labor estimate and suggestions for the type of garage door opener to buy, if we just wanted him to install it.

I chose this company partly because we had used it once before, 7 years ago, and partly because reviews of other garage door companies appeared to charge higher prices for replacing a spring. The owner, Jim, is honest and very pleasant. He does not subcontract, so you deal with him directly, which we appreciate. We like supporting smaller companies such as his.
Description of Work: They replaced a broken spring. He also found a broken hinge and replaced that as well.

 + -1 moreThey came when they promised and completed the work in a short amount of time. They will be coming back with rubber to seal the door so mice cannot enter. Jim was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what was needed to make the door work correctly. It now works like a dream. I would hire this company again and recommend them to all my friends. It was an enjoyable experience and I am confident they know what they are doing.
Description of Work: They replaced the tracks and installed new springs. The door was out of alignment so they also fixed that.

 + -1 moreThey showed up promptly and were very polite and friendly. They refused to take any payment for the service call. I would absolutely call them immediately if I needed service for the garage door and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: The garage door opener was working erratically and not closing properly. However, it worked fine when Jim and Larry came to fix it! They examined it, adjusted some settings, and lubricated the track for the garage door. They also advised that cobwebs can interfere with the photo-sensor, which we did not know.

 + -1 moreAnother great experience with an Angie's List referral. I called Jim late Friday afternoon. He was able to come out to fix my door on Monday. (I was not locked into my garage, and didn't need emergency access, so this was fine.) They were punctual, efficient, and helpful. I had trouble with the tension on the door that same day, and they came back right away to fix it.
Description of Work: Replaced spring on my garage door opener system. Programmed my HomeLink remote.

Jim & Chris were helpful in performing maintenance work on our garage doors about a month ago, however the mechanisms were old and one of them gave out and had to be replaced. They responded to my husband's call quickly and replaced the door mechanism quickly and professionally (and cleaned up after themeselves). Once again, we are very happy with our experience with Suburban Door and would definitely use them again! Very personable, very professional and very quick to respond!

He was supposed to leave for vacation the next morning, but he left a bit later so he could be at my house first thing to replace the spring. I couldn't get my car out so he was a life saver! Description of Work: Jim came out the same day our garage door started acting strangely (not responding to remote control & not remaining in the closed position). He made an adjustment which fixed the issue. I asked him about a new garage door opener, & he assured me that I did NOT need one. However, I have been wanting a new opener which does not "eat" light bulbs & has all of its plastic covers, so Jim came out the next day & installed a brand new one. The new one rocks! It's very quiet, & he straightened the door frame & installed it CORRECTLY so that the door would not bow out due to unnecessary stress & pressure.

Description of Work: JIM CAME TO OUR HOME TO REVIEW THE CONDITION OF OUR GARAGE DOOR OPENER. WE HAD NEVER HAD ONE BEFORE, AND KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THEM. WE DID REALIZE THAT THIS ONE WAS PROBABLY ORIGINAL TO THE HOUSE (BUILT IN 1968) AND JIM CONFIRMED THIS. THE REMOTES WERE NOT REPLACEABLE AND GETTING VERY TIRED, AS WAS THE MOTOR. JIM RECOMMENDED A COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE UNIT FOR US TO PURCHASE AND GAVE ME AN UP-FRONT BID ON INSTALLATION. HE ALSO CHECKED THE ACTUAL DOOR AND THE GUIDES. WE PURCHASED THE UNIT AND JIM WAS THERE THE NEXT WEEK, AS PROMISED, AND INSTALLED A LOVELY NEW OPENER AS WELL AS THE WALL KEYPAD AND THE SENSORS. HE WAS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND VERY OPEN ABOUT EXPLAINING EVERYTHING. WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH HIS WORK.
