Steve Dotter Drains

Steve presented a viable solution for our problem and setup our system so that it temporarily dealt with the problem while the solution was put in place. Very much appreciate his experience and helpfulness in finding a resolution, as compared to another couple of professions who were selling us overkill resolutions. His pricing was most fair and his punctuality and professionalism were a pleasure to witness.

Wonderful, wonderful experience all the way around!!! Steve installed an exterior drainage system for a house with a slate roof and four round metal downspouts. He expertly made the connections and gauged the grade for drainage. He is an experienced professional -- I would say drainage genius -- who understands exterior drainage. I also appreciated how careful he was with cutting and replacing the sod and the recommendations he gave me afterwards for maintenance. I am now looking forward to, rather than dreading, the next heavy rain! I found him through this list, and I recommend him without reservation.

Steve did a great job at a fair price. Work was all hand completed, neatly cut and replaced turf. He did work at my previous home which is why I called him again.

Steve was very competitive with price. Was upfront that it would be a couple of weeks before he could get the job done. Steve was true to his timing of the project and did excellent work. 4 days after work was completed, you couldn't tell where he had dug to replace pipe. Hand cut and laid sod back when he was finished. I would hire Steve again.

Great. Willy gave us an estimate and said he was 3 weeks out but actually had a cancellation and was able to come at the 2 week timeframe. He did exactly what he said he would and the yard looks great. You can hardly tell he was here. Price was good.

It couldn't have gone better. Steve came out to give me an estimate in the middle of another job he was doing. We had a large tree removed with many roots that had clogged the drain. Steve then came out and assessed the job and gave me a rough estimate. His estimate was several hundred dollars lower than the previous lowest estimate and two thousand dollars lower than another! Steve is old school- and I mean that in a good way. He knows his craft, he has the wisdom that comes only from experience. He digs meticulously, carefully, and neatly using only hand tools and cuts out the sod and replaces it wherever possible. You can hardly tell where he had worked. Steve is courteous, respectful, and a hard worker. He diligently worked in rain, snow, and wind and cleared out roots and large rocks to dig the trench for the new drain. He cleaned up the area well after he completed the work. I am so glad we went with Steve rather than a bigger, more expensive company. I would recommend Steve to anyone. I hope we won't need him on the other side of the house, but if we do, I'll call him in an instant.

I can't say enough good things about the work that Steve did. He was very responsive when I called for an estimate, his price was more than fair, and the quality of his work was outstanding. Over a couple weeks, Steve came out each weekday and chipped away at the job. He called me when there was anything he needed to do that strayed from the original plan we discussed, he even filled some dirt in by the foundation of the house to ensure proper drainage, which was above and beyond. You can see where the drains were put in, only because the ground is a little higher and needs to settle a bit. He first removed the sod and set it aside, did the rest of the digging and drain pipe installation, then replaced the sod. If you didn't look close, you wouldn't be able to tell a major job was just done. Excellent work...I would surely hire him again. He's an incredibly friendly man, hard worker, and he runs an honest business. Thanks, Steve!

Work done promptly and to high quality; all by hand without use of power equipment. Consequently there is no tell tale strip of soil as sod was carefully removed and replaced.

He did a good job. He does it all himself. He does it by hand, which has got to be rare. It took about three days.

You won't find a better value for replacing outdoor drains. Steve digs them by hand and then replaces the sod, no mess, and looks just like it was before he started. Professional, courteous, and prompt communication.

Steve did a great job. Replaced underground drainage line amd you can barely tell it was done. He saved and replaced sod. Excellent work.

Steve was tied up with other work when we first reached out to him. He was able to provide a quote in approximately half a week and then he did the actual work perhaps a week later. His quote was quite low, and he stuck by the quote to the cent. As others have noted, Steve does the digging by hand; he did the work himself (no subcontractors). Steve removed the sod, then dug a trench, placed the drainage below, and then replaced the sod. When all was done, I walked over the work and "treaded" the grass a little flatter, by foot. I am not sure whether this was needed, but it flattened a slight mound that was present when Steve was done. I would hire this man again in a second if the need arose for repairs to the other end of the house.

I called Steve and he was able to stop by the same day to take a look at the drain even though he's booked for jobs far in advance. I was concerned that drain had disconnected and was going to require trenching. After looking at it, he was able to repair it with no trenching at all and also corrected the attachment from a downspout to it's drain. The cost to repair came in far below what i was expecting it to be. Steve's quick response and quality of work is beyond reproach and I would recommend him for anyone with a similar problem.

Excellent job. Steve completed the work as promised. He worked around our landscape features and reinstalled the lawn tiles and cleaned up everything. You can hardly see where the pipes are.

Steve, replaced our sump pump drain nearly year ago. I'm writing this review now to provide an update. We recently had flooding in the area. Two of my neighbors had basement damage because they didn't have the proper drainage. I couldn't be happier with Steve's help.

The work went extremely well. All the work was digging was done by hand. Great care was given to saving the existing sod for reuse. The work was done as discussed and completed on time despite the extremely cold weather we had last winter.

He was very professional and did what he said he would do. A man of his word which is pretty rare nowadays.

The problem was corrected and we have not had any further problems with water on our basement.

Steve came out to assess a drainage issue in yard. Told me the investment would not be worth it. Really appreciated the straight shooting.

Steve came up with a way to manage all of the run off from the back of the house while not disturbing extensive landscaping. He doesn't use power equipment so your yard will not be destroyed. He carefully dug the trenches required and replaced the sod so you could hardly tell he'd been there. Full clean up after the job was done too. Very satisfied

He manually dug up the old pipe with a shovel and replaced the PVC pipe from the sump pump drain and downspout from the house to the road. He took longer than it would with a machine, but by doing this manually, he cut the sod and then replaced it. It grew in great without having to plant grass. It took a little longer and cost a little more than estimated, but he really solved the issue. Great work!!

He is very professional and has great prices. I am very happy with his work. It took him longer to complete than he expected because there was more digging than he anticipated, but I didn't mind because he finished in 3 days and did not try to charge us more than his quote. The drain works really well.

Replaced downspout drain from house to sidewalk. Dug a new ditch and installed new pipe. Worked 7-8 hour days until finished. Good disposition,hard worker and had good ideas/suggestions when we ran into problems. Frank talker if you allow him to be. A very likeable guy who did good work.

Steve was great. He was very affordable and completed the work as promised. We are recommending him to our friends with similar needs. He also patiently explained to us in a lot of detail other issues he saw with our gutters and soil grading, and was able to recommend someone for the gutter repairs.
