+ -1 moreI am very disappointed in RKE. Like I said, I had experience in the past with them with no problem. Perhaps there is a breakdown in their management after all these years or they forgot that customers make their business what it is and that it is a 2 way street. Sorry, guys.
Description of Work: I contacted RKE Trucking back in the fall 2010 to get gravel delivered and spread. They had done the job about 4 years ago , were responsive back then and I thought I would try them again as their price was reasonable. I called several times with no call back. Then Winter came and went. Now it is Spring and I want gravel for driveway. I called several times with no call back and then finally got to speak to a person. I was "reassured" that someone would be out within a week to get an estimate done. No one came; no one called back wit estimate. The last time I actually talked to Ed and he said he would come out within a week. I believe that was almost a month ago. Apparently RKE does not know how to tell customers they don't need or want work. Will NOT recommend this company until they remember that customer service is what pays their bills.

+ 0 moreEd, promptly came to our house for a quote. We were happy with the estimate, and decided to hire them. Within a week the came to our house and quickly did the job. Leading up to our house is gravel driveway, then concrete, so there was a gap where they did not lay the gravel becasue of the transition and there was asphalt there; however, when speaking with Ed, we addressed that we wanted the gravel all the way up to the concrete. Within a day, that was complete. Once we were completley satisified, we received the bill. We had a great experience and the final price was cheaper than the inital quote! We definitley recommend RKE Trucking.

+ -1 moreEd and his crew were terrific! He was able to get me on his schedule three days after I first talked to him and we agreed on a price and what would be done. I could not be at my home when they were doing the work but the guys knew exactly what to do. They repaired some deep potholes with a Bobcat, then dumped and spread 20 tons of gravel. After the dump truck unloaded, they used the Bobcat to finish spreading. They did a beautiful job. I couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: I contracted with Ed to fix some holes in my gravel driveway and then spread new gravel.

+ 0 moreI called initially for 4 trucks of fill dirt to back-fill an in-ground pool. They called me back promptly and set me up for a delivery 2 days later. The dirt arrived when they said it would. I had originally planned to spread the dirt myself, but realized I was in over my head. I called them back later that day and asked if they could send someone out to help finish the job. Brandon came out the next day, leveled the dirt, brought in 4 more truck loads, and did a rough grade for me. Brandon was incredibly professional, the work was excellent, and the cost was far below what others were asking.
Description of Work: 7 loads of fill dirt, 1 load of topsoil, and 4 hours of skid loader work

+ -1 moreMy driveway had not been graded or gravel replaced in over 8 years. Boy did it need it! I found RKE Trucking on Angie's List, saw that he would do work in Morrow County. Called and left a message for an estimate for grading and replacing gravel in my driveway approximately 600 feet. They returned my call and Mr. Deim stopped by on his way home to look at the driveway and called within the next couple of days with an estimate. I OKed the price and they were here the next day on time and I had a new driveway within 2 hours. They did a very nice job and the price was lower than the estimate which was a plus too.
Description of Work: Graded driveway and replaced with new gravel.

He offered some suggestions based on my desires/needs and had a delivery scheduled for about 2 business days later. I did receive a call the night before to confirm delivery time. + -1 moreWe had a great experience! The delivery was made on time with the day we requested. The driver was very gracious. The ComTil was very dirty and we felt bad for the driver, as he was covered in smelly dirt. We switched to Topsoil for the next load, which wasn't as smelly or dirty.
Description of Work: We had excavating work done in June. We waited until October to have ComTil and Topsoil put down to grow grass. We have a large yard so we needed to hire the Slinger Truck to spread it more efficiently. We used the ComTil then decided after the first truck to switch to Topsoil. Called Ed and he was fine with this change. The driver was very accommodating to our direction to put the dirt and fill in areas.

Ed came when promised to give us an estimate and the project was completed during our time frame. We were even surprised that the project could be completed in one full day. We would hire RKE again in a heart beat! After living in Columbus for 5 years, we were so pleased to FINALLY find a company with the morals and dedication that we grew up with in NEO. We will hire them back in the future for other projects.
Description of Work: Our backyard flooded for many years to the point ducks would come swim on the water. We decided to have drainage tile put in and the ground in our back yard leveled out.

Description of Work: Ed came out to give an estimate and then associate came out to lay gravel on our long and curvy driveway. Ed even remembered that my driveway had quite a few leaves on it when he came out to measure and sent his associate with a leaf blower to blow them off prior to laying the gravel.

Even though we have a pretty good size fence around our yard, the driver was able to sling the topsoil very accurately - preventing us from having to move a lot of the soil around by hand. Overall, the whole process went very smoothly.
Description of Work: RKE delivered 10 yards of processed topsoil. They were able to use their "slinger" to put almost all of the topsoil exactly were we wanted it.

+ -1 moreCan I give an A+?! I called to get a quote and Ed came out when he said he would and gave me a great price for the work. Originally, we only called for the hauling and grading but wound up getting such a great price on the gravel and sand that we had them do that, too! The guys who came out to the house were amazing; professional, extremely polite, really good at their jobs, easy to work with and responsive to my requests. They worked for about 6 hours, dug a 27x14' hole to the exact depth that we requested, dug out a large pathway on the side of the house, moved pallets of patio pavers around to the back of the house from the driveway, hauled away all the debris, they placed the gravel and sand on two tarps for us exactly where we requested and finally graded two areas that we needed built up using the fill they pulled from the other areas of the yard. We have already hired them to come back. I would recommend this company to anyone!
Description of Work: We needed someone to haul away the broken up concrete from our existing 20x12 patio as well as dig out and level the hole for the base of the new 27x14 patio. We also needed some grading done around the house to help with some water intrusion. In addition, we needed 12 tons of limestone gravel for the sub base of the patio and 3 tons of concrete sand delivered and placed in the back yard for easy access.

+ -1 moreThe initial service was wonderful. When I called to schedule, the person was friendly and helpful. We asked that they dump the mulch on the left side of the driveway while we were at work so we could get one car in and out of the garage. When we got home, the mulch was on the left side and half of the right side. I was also a little disappointed in the color. It was a really dark brown that looked almost black. I called the company regarding the placement of the mulch and was told the owner would call me back. I never received a call back.
Description of Work: RKE delivered 3.5 cubic yards of brown mulch to our home.

When I called back, they explained the various options, pricing, etc., and scheduled a delivery. The mulch arrived a day earlier than promised which allowed us to get a jump on spreading it. I've ordered mulch from another competitor in the past; this time around I bought twice as much mulch and paid less than with the other guys.

+ 0 moreRKE delivered the mulch on time and in the right location in my yard. A veteran of dump truck deliveries, I noticed (OK, even my wife noticed) right away that it didn't look like six yards. I measured it out and came up with 4 yards. I called Ed Diem and he agreed to deliver the two remaining yards the next business day. These kind of errors can apparently happen at the loading site. I liked the fact that he never questioned my measurements or asked for photos or gave me any static whatsoever. A very positive experience.

+ -1 moreEd was very knowledgeable and truly knew his business. The very next day, Rke showed up, leveled out some areas, re-graded other spots, and spread the driveway gravel. The men were very tidy and professional. I had a great experience with this company, and we will be using them again in the spring for several other projects (including some landscaping and topsoil).
Description of Work: I really couldn't have been more pleased with this company. A week before Thanksgiving, I decided that I needed new gravel on my driveway before my guests had to dodge the mud. I called several other companies who either were considerably more expensive or who could not come out to give me an estimate for several weeks. Since Rke Trucking had a 5% off coupon on Angie s list and because they had other favorable reviews, I called them. They were able to come out the next day to evaluate what I needed. Their salesman/estimator (Ed) listened to our needs and had better suggestions then ones we had thought of. The estimate was reasonable, and he recommended some grading to direct rain away from the garage at the end of the driveway. I began the process by thinking that I just needed new stone, but in the end, I was advised to have the grading and prep work done first so that the driveway would last longer. It's really a better plan and a great job.

We were on a budget and were only able to pay what was originally estimated. They were originally going to try to be under budget but with the extra soil that was needed it ended up being right at the original estimate. Overall a good experience and we will definitely use them again if ever a need for soil and mulch arises.
