First, they quickly took our acceptance of estimate and came out same day (a day earlier than expected). It was clear that they sub-contract, and the two workers were "grab and go"; they power-washed a 20x15 deck in 30 minutes, did a poor job (used NO CLEANERS or AGENTS to get the deck clean), and never power-washed the swingset. They then showed up the next day, quickly splapped on paint (missed numerous spots) never put on a second coat (as per contract), and quickly grabbed the check. They spent a total of two hours slapping on the paint. I can provide pictures. I am already getting estimates to redo the work; it is horrendous. Also, the sub-contractors did not use the color I picked, and after the fact said that it is a water-based paint (I asked for stain). Net/net: this is a clear case of a husband and wife taking "low-bids" from sub-contractors to deliver poor quality work as quickly as possible (estimate to completion was less than 24 hours). I could never ever recommend this company. I can provide pictures, examples of the poor work, and copies of the contract which they did not fulfill. This was a total and complete fiasco and fraud. Please feel free to stop by and inspect what this company did to my 100% custom-built 100% cedar deck. It is a nightmare. Please, please, please feel free to contact me before you EVER EVER EVER work with this company. If you currently are having any issues with this company, please feel free to contact me to help provide evidence of the poor and shoddy workmanship and quality they deliver, as I am sure that this is a recurrent theme with this "grab the money and go" company. I don't want anyone to experience what was done to me, and hope that people can see that I am sincere and want to provide a clear and accurate (and DOCUMENTED!!!) example of how MC Painting operates.

This was the first time we had used their services. They did a good job. We found them on the List and their estimate fit our budget so we went with them. They were a little unprofessional. They showed up when they wanted and did not have MC Painting on their clothes or truck but they did do what we wanted. They also cleaned up well afterwards.

Well done overall. The ceiling could have used an additional coat or two (they applied 3), but I was not willing/able to pay the additional cost to do that (they did the number of coats they were contracted to do). The work was all done in one day which was great, but it took a while to get them scheduled to actually perform the work. The walls and trim were painted very well.

I felt like they took a "hit and run" approach to the work.

The estimate given was very professional and the explanation of work to be done very thorough. However, it was downhill from there. They did not arrive when scheduled. The first few days they called to say they were delayed and then the calls quit. We had scheduled roofers to replace our roof and gutters following the painting, so therefore, everything became delayed. When they did show up, the work was sloppy. Drop cloths were not placed over the landscaping as promised. Flaking paint and rough edges were not sanded as promised. They did not bother to disconnect or cover the garden hose, which they used for pressure washing, therefore it was painted along with the house. The deck was worse. The stain was sprayed unevenly, and the first time it got wet the stain flaked off. We suspect that the stepper used was not thoroughly washed off prior to staining. After 3 months of weekly calls, they finally sent someone to redo the deck. We have yet to see the touch up crew for the house.

I signed a contract with MC Painting after the estimate. The were the middle range of 3 estimates. They also had internet references and seemed professional. The subcontractor would have done the job cheaper but I had reasons for not using them. The job was never finished and I was unable to get hold of MC Painting about the matter despite their claims that they do daily inspections of work.

Called company to get estimate on deck work - they left estimate in door. Called repeatedly for 1 to 2 weeks, and got no person to set up work schedule. On the evening of 6/12, received a message on my home phone saying they would be there 6/13. I called and left a message on their phone that night, telling them I did not need their services and to not show up. Called them again, the morning of 6/13 left two more message reiterating the fact that they were not needed, and that morning around 10 am., received a phone call telling me that we had a signed agreement and that if I backed out, they would consider it a breach of contract. Did not sign any contract with them and now I know why they have bad ratings: Very poor customer service when you can never get a live person, and they threaten you over the phone.

Overall, the painting was an okay job. Chris Cox, owner, replied within a week of message left at the company to come out for an estimate, which was September. Painting was not finished until late October. We felt more scraping and sanding should have been done on the garage door as well as on the side lights because the paint is flaking already. Also, dryer vent was not primed before painting, so paint did not adhere to the vent. We contacted the lead painter, who did return our call but did not come back out.

MR. COX AGREED TO MEET WITH US, AND CAME TO OUR HOME THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 12, 2005 TO DISCUSS OUR CONCERNS AND TO SEE THE: -DAMAGE TO OUR BASEMENT -DAMAGE TO OUR SLATE ROOF -THE UNACCEPTABLE PREP JOB ON WINDOW SILLS AND FRAMES WITH WINDOWS PAINTED SHUT -THE COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCOMPLETE PAINT JOB ON THE SIDING. WE ALSO INFORMED MR. COX WE WERE COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED WITH HIS CREW FAILING TO SHOW UP ON BRIGHT SUNNY DAYS. CHRIS COX AGREED TO IMMEDIATELY SEND US HIS MOST PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERIENCED PAINTING CREW, YET WE NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN. WHEN WE CALLED HIS OFFICE, WE WERE INFORMED "CHRIS HAS GOTTEN MARRIED AND IS OUT OF TOWN IN MEXICO FOR TWO WEEKS." AS FAR AS WE'RE CONCERNED MC PAINTING BROKE OUR CONTRACT AND WE WANT NOTHING MORE TO DO WITH HIM OR HIS COMPANY.

MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN HORRIBLE AND IT ISN'T OVER YET! IT HAS TAKEN OVER 1 1/2 MONTHS TO GET THEM BACK TO REPAINT THE WOOD AS THEY MISMATCHED THE COLOR. THIS WAS AFTER THEY HAD ONE CREW LEAVE MY JOB BECAUSE THE WOOD REPAIR WAS TOO DIFFICULT. IN ADDITION AFTER SCRAPING THEY NEVER EVEN SWEPT UP THE CHIPS. I OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE ADDITIONAL PAINT TO PROPERLY COLOR MATCH MY PAINT COLOR. AFTER BUYING THE PAINT MYSELF THE SUPERVISOR ON THE JOB DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP TO CORRECT HIS ERROR, WHICH HE ADMITTED TO ME THAT WHEN HE WAS PAINTING, "THE COLOR DIDN'T LOOK RIGHT." I HAVE NEVER HAD A WORSE EXPERIENCE WITH A COMPANY, EVER! THEY CAME BACK, FINALLY, OVER THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND TO REPAINT THE AREAS AND WHEN I CAME HOME THEY DIDN'T EVEN PAINT MY WHOLE GARAGE DOOR, JUST PART OF IT. THEY HAVE MISSED PAINTING MY RETURNS ON THE DORMERS. THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE. IT IS GREAT THAT ONE OF THEIR OWNERS IS A OSU LAW GRAD. I AM SURE THEY WILL EVENTUALLY NEED HIS EXPERTISE.

EXCELLENT JOB. VERY PROFESSIONAL. TOOK GREAT PRIDE IN WORK. PAID ATTENTION TO DETAIL. EXCELLENT CLEAN UP AFTERWARDS. PRICE WAS ALSO VERY REASONABLE.

CHRIS WAS VERY INFORMATIVE ON EVERY ASPECT OF THE JOB, AND MIKE SHOWED UP RIGHT ON TIME, AND WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND POLITE. THE JOB WAS DONE MUCH SOONER THAN I THOUGHT AND IT LOOKS GREAT. I WILL DEFINITELY BE CALLING THEM BACK.

MC PAINTING ARRIVED ON TIME AND HAD A PROFESSIONAL CREW. THE PRICE WAS AFFORDABLE AND THE JOB WAS COMPLETED IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY USED A HIGH QUALITY PAINT FROM SHERWIN WILLIAMS. THE TEAM UNDERSTOOD EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED AND PERFORMED AT A SUPERIOR LEVEL. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES TO ANYONE AND WILL CALL THEM FOR FUTURE WORK.

MC PAINTING PUFFED THEIR SALES PRESENTATION REGARDING EXPERIENCE OF WORKERS. FUNDAMENTAL WORK WAS NOT DONE LIKE PRIMING BARE WOOD, USING DROP CLOTHS TO PROTECT NATURAL STONE AND DRIVEWAY. CRANK OPEN WINDOWS WERE SPRAY PAINTED CLOSED AND DETAIL WORK AROUND DOORS AND SCREENS WAS POOR. LASTLY, THE CONTRACTOR SHOWED ZERO INTEREST IN CORRECTING POOR WORKMANSHIP.

WE HAVE USED MC AGAIN FOR OUR INTERIOR WORK WITHOUT A PROBLEM. THEY ARRIVED ON TIME AND COMPLETED THE WORK IN 2 DAYS. IT WAS A QUALITY JOB WITH PROFESSIONAL PAINTERS.

I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH ANY COMPANY BEFORE. THEY TOOK TWO MONTHS TO COMPLETE THE WORK ON MY DECK. I WAS CONTINUOUSLY DISSATISFIED WITH THEIR WORK. MY DECK FURNITURE WAS IN MY YARD DURING THIS ENTIRE TIME, WHICH CONSTANTLY HAD TO BE MOVED TO MOW MY GRASS, OR TO HAVE COMPANY OVER. THEY POWER WASHED MY DECK SO FORCEFULLY THAT IT LEFT GAUGES IN THE WOOD ON THE DECK FLOOR. THEY USED MY WATER SPOUT TO POWER WASH THE DECK AND LEFT THE HOSE ON OVER ONE WEEKEND WHEN I WAS OUT OF TOWN (FORTUNATELY MY NEIGHBOR DISCOVERED IT AND WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE WATER). I CONTINUOUSLY LEFT MESSAGES FOR THE OWNER TO CALL ME AND HE NEVER RETURNED MY CALLS. THEY ALSO DID NOT CLEAN UP THE AREA PROPERLY. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEIR SERVICES TO ANYONE.

THEY HAD SUB-CONTRACTORS COME TO DO THE JOB (YOUNG INEXPERIENCED PAINTERS). HORRIBLE PAINT JOB. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO JUST PAINT WALLS, BUT GOT PAINT ALL OVER THE CEILING AND WOODWORK, AND THE WALLS WERE HORRIBLE. THEY DIDN'T USE PROPER MATERIALS. THEY ALSO GOT PAINT ON CARPET AND FURNITURE. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL YOUNG ADULTS, DAMAGED A FEW ITEMS, AND SHOWED UP WHEN THEY FELT LIKE IT. TWO DAYS INTO THE JOB I DECIDED NOT TO HAVE THEM BACK. I HAD THE OWNER COME AND TAKE A LOOK. AFTER A LOT OF HOUNDING OF THE OWNER, I FINALLY GOT A CHECK FROM HIS INSURANCE COMPANY FOR $2800 ONE MONTH LATER. NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!

WORKERS DID A GREAT JOB. HAD NO PROBLEMS AT ALL WITH THEM. BEST PRICE AROUND FOR THE JOB.

I CALLED FOUR OF THE REFERRALS THEY GAVE ME IN THE AREA AND THEY ALL SAID THEY WOULD NEVER HIRE THEM AGAIN. I LEFT A MESSAGE LETTING HIM KNOW HIS REFERRALS WERE HORRIBLE. I RECEIVED A CALL A WEEK LATER LOOKING TO SEE IF WE HAD MADE A DECISION ON WHO TO PAINT THE EXTERIOR OF OUR HOME. I TOLD THE LADY THEY MUST HAVE THEIR WIRES CROSSED, AS I WOULD NEVER HIRE THEM AFTER CHECKING 4 REFERRALS WHICH WERE ALL BAD. SHE SAID THANK YOU AND HUNG UP! CHECK REFERENCES BEFORE HIRING!
