Custom Home Works

Dave did the actual work on my kitchen partial renovation and on the exterior replacement of worn cedar boards and the old lighting fixtures. Bill handled more of the paperwork and ordering of materials for my project. Bill also provided excellent suggestions for materials. I took several of his suggestions and am very pleased with them. The work was beautifully done with great attention to detail. When problems came up and were brought to their attention, they fixed them. For example, when the exterior cedar boards were replaced under the window sills, it left a gap too big to caulk. This was brought to Bill's attention and Dave came out immediately to install an additional piece of wood to cover the gap and ensure it would be water tight. The tile backsplash was very nicely done. They followed the pattern I wanted and the whole project was exactly how I hoped it would look. I've gotten many compliments on the work. I was pleased and thought it was reasonably priced for the amount of work that was done.

My home was built in 1928 using classic plaster & lathe over brick. I was quite concerned about this before the job began. It is difficult to work with, and none of the walls were flat or straight. But Custom Home Works expertly removed the plaster, wire & wooden lathe from an entire wall and replaced it with drywall to create a perfectly flat surface for new tile. They also sanded and flattened the other walls. They removed my old, over-sized, and very heavy metal bathtub. I have no idea how they were able to get that monster out of the house, from the second floor without damaging anything else, but they did. They also removed the old toilet and pedestal sink. In spite of all they had to deal with, we had minimal mess and no damage to the rest of the house during the removal stage. And they were very sensitive to the inconvenience we experienced because we were missing our primary bathroom. They worked as quickly as possible to get us back in "working order" even before the job was finished. CHW understood that I had little knowledge of how a bathroom was remodeled and they worked with me every step of the way in selecting the granite for my new countertops, the tile for the floor and walls, the color of wood and the style for my new cabinets. They also offered wonderful suggestions for where to look for my new plumbing fixtures. Our home uses hot-water heat so we had an unsightly radiator to deal with. Custom Home Works built a beautiful wooden cabinet around it with decorative wire mesh on the front doors to allow the heat to flow efficiently and a granite top that matches the sink countertop. CHW installed two new cupboards; one above the toilet and one above the radiator. My old pedestal sink was replaced with a beautiful new wood cabinet with a granite top and new rimless sink and fixtures. They rejuvenated the original large linen cabinet in place, but they replaced the old doors with new ones that match my other cupboards and they used laminate to make the frame match. They also installed a gorgeous new tri-fold-mirror medicine cabinet, a decorative light fixture above it, much needed additional electrical outlets, a super-quiet vent with a built in night light that comes on when you turn off the main light, and a dimmer switch for when I need a quiet & relaxing bubble bath! Since my new bathtub is normal length, they used that extra space to build in two tiled "cubby-holes" where we can set our shampoo, shave cream, etc. It's amazing how much neater that makes the bathroom look! One of the artistic highlights that I just love in my new bathroom is the decorative way they placed my wall tiles with a unique design and a small pattern of colored tiles all the way around the room. This required extra effort on their part because of the detailed cutting of each tile, but they never complained, and the result is fantastic. I have lived in this house for about 30 years, and I had always dreamed of remodeling the bathroom. It was a long wait, but the results were even better than I had imagined! I am so happy with the work done by Custom Home Works that I am looking forward to the day when I can have them start on my kitchen! When you find contractors that are such a pleasure to work with it is easy to start dreaming about your next project because I am no longer afraid that I won't get what I want. These folks are just awesome to work with!

The cabinetry was gorgeous. The floor tiles a perfect match for the tub surround tile. The layout of the room is a very efficient use of space.Nice roomy linen cabinet The workers were very neat, quick, and professional

Bill is very easy to talk with and very clear in his answers. He is always on time, or he calls ahead to let you know plans have change and why. Bill was very couretous and thoughtful. He guided us to smart upgrades as well as cost savings when it made sense. I plan on having Bill estimate an addition to our home when I have the funds. I highly recommend Bill and Custom Home Works. We told them our needs and they made serveral suggestions, things I did not think of and their ideas worked out great. They have a good eye for what makes the decor look best. They were very concerned with making sure they did not disrupt our activities and they were very concerned with not letting drywall dust and other building remains dirty up the rest of the house. They worked every day, weather permitting and finished the job in the time estimated. Everything is very nicely done, the trim looks great on the windows, the floor looks great. It is a good size room and I found the price to be very good compared with others.And changes I added in were acted upon. Overall, I was extremely pleased with the finished product

Bill Maibach and his business partner Dave made me happy from the first visit when I was given several computerized plans for remodeling my kitchen. I had contacted three or four other companies and found that their suggestions, costs and the fact that they did the work themselves swayed me. My relatively small kitchen has gotten rave reviews from my friends and neighbors and I have recommended this company to others and in turn they have recommended them to others as well. I now have a kitchen that works for me with new cabinets, appliances, flooring, paint, backsplash, granite countertops and some new lighting. In addition I have a pantry with pull out shelves that replaces one that required me to remove items to find things in the back. The company made arrangements to pick up and/or install materials, took away all items that were to be discarded each time as I had no way to do this myself and were always on top of what needed to be done. My refrigerator which was not replaced was moved to a much better spot and I now have shelves and drawers for storage that I did not have before. They also moved some shelves into another room and moved my former kitchen cabinets into my garage. Recently I discovered that a strip that had been installed to mark the division of the kitchen floor and my dining room carpet was too small. It only needed one email to the company and in no time a wider and even more attractive strip was installed. I would like to see them listed as an award winner.

After interviewing over a half dozen companies to do our master bath remodel, we decided to go with Custom Home Works. Our overall impression of Custom Home Works has been a positive one. Bill was very friendly and professional throughout the entire process. Dave was punctual, efficient, and always cleaned up the work area at the end of each day. If we had any questions throughout the process, Bill or Dave always made sure to address our concerns until we were satisified. We felt their work to be of a high quality at a fair price. At this point, we are very happy with our new master bathroom and would recommend Custom Home Works to others.

This is my second project with Custom Home Works. Three years ago they converted my covered patio to a 4-season room. I have been very pleased with the quality of work both times. Bill and Dave are very easy to work with. They keep their commitments, do exactly what they say they will, and stay within budget. I have enjoyed the process both times and feel very confident having them do work in my home. I can highly recommend Custom Home Works for any remodeling job....big or small. I will use them again if I have another project that could use their touch!

Except for fact that work was supposed to start in the fall of 2012, it was great. It took about 9 weeks. Started in rainy spring so some delays but quickly under roof and then work proceeded smoothly. The suggestions from Bill Maiback were great in picking windows, etc. His partner Dave was at our home daily and worked in a difficult location carrying supplies up deck steps at back of house in hilly location. His helpers were all hard workers and we knew them by name - nice to have people you can trust working on your home. This is the 5th project they have under taken as we have re-done much of our older home. Obviously, we have been happy with their work. They do what they say will do at the price they agree upon. They will work with you if changes are needed, but there are never any unwelcome surprises.

Never showed up for estimate, Never called

Bill Maibach was a delight to work with. He and his crew were very pleasant, listened to me, and performed all tasks in a timely and efficient manner. Bill was very good at telling me places to look at materials and ensuring that I got good service. I did not get a lot of estimates for this job. I liked Bill immediately and decided to go with his company. He laid the tile on my porch himself and oversaw every detail of the entire project. He has a small company and I think this mean he pays a lot of attention to each job. I have asked him to give me a quote for a small bathroom update. I totally trus Bill and what he can do.

They arrived on agreed time and and worked for aprox. a week; very organized, friendly and cleanly, constantly checking that their operations were in ac- cord with our wishes, being to as little inconvenience to us as possible. Also friendly and humoristic - you need that when you`re without bathroom for a time. And the result were beyond our expectations. They had given us very good advise on, how to perform this task according to our needs and finances in a very little bathroom. And the cleanup after finishing the job was perfect.

This was the second time we have used Custom Home Works for a major remodeling project and, again, were extremely pleased with the results. Bill Maibach is a pleasure to work with and his crew was efficient and careful in the construction process. The project finished on time and within the costs promised, with a minimum of disruption to us. We have no reservation at all in strongly recommending Custom Home Works to anyone wishing to remodel or upgrade their home.

It took us two years to find someone trustworthy to do our kitchen but we are so happy we found Bill and Dave! He showed up on time, provided a timely estimate and even gave us options to stay in our budget. Many other constructors will have us spend more but Bill was very respectful of our budget and understood our limits. With the estimate that they provided, they also included computer renderings with possible options and layouts, that was really neat since it gave us a clear picture of what our kitchen will look like and it even helped us made some decisions. We were very hesitant about paying a high percentage upfront so he re-distributed the percentages in the contract so we will feel better. They started work on time and finish on time and budget which is great specially when you are doing a kitchen and you are eating out every night. Although they had a list of preferred vendors for our supplies, they were also very flexible on using other resources such as the internet or home repairs stores that offered some items we really wanted. Bill did a great job staying in touch, if anything came up he will always call my cell phone, explain the situation and provide options for solutions, in addition, he was always available to answer my calls and if not he would call right back. As if that wasn't enough, they also fixed a couple of items that were not related to the kitchen remodel, Bill noted that our basement stairs was not supported correctly so he fixed it at no charge. Also, during the remodel, one of our bathroom pipes started backing up and they fixed it for us which was very convenient. We absolutely love our kitchen and if we had to do it all over again we will do it exactly the same! If you are looking for a professional, honest, hard worker constructors we would highly recommend Bill and Dave at Custom Home Works.

With Bill's guidance, advice and expertise, the project turned out beautifully. From the very beginning, Custom Home Works provides a "hands-on" worksmanship with a personal touch which is what we were after. They provided us with the best design, giving us more storage and functionality within the allotted space. We were very impressed with their promptness, their tidiness (even during demolition), and their ease to work with. They took the time and extra effort to make sure every detail was done to our satisfaction. Bill even bought a special drill bit to perform a specific cut for our shower tiles. We absolutely love our "five-star luxury hotel" bathroom!

The project went smoothly and was completed to our satisfaction. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and work done by these professionals.

The work started approximately on time waiting for some ordered items. Everything was removed from the kitchen area , we were pleased with the workers and their skill level. Fortunately we have a finished basement so it was easy to transition meals to that location. The workers always arrived early and worked very hard during the day. When the floor was being installed, there was a problem with some aspect of the installation. Contact was made with the manufacturer, they replaced the floor material and custom home works reinstalled the floor at no charge. The result of this remodeling is amazing. The new kitchen is totally transformed. It is nice to cook, eat and hang out in this new experience. There have been a few electrical components hiccups which recently were handled by the contractor

The work turned out wonderful, they did a real good job. They were very clean as far as work went because we had to live in the house while they were remodeling the kitchen. They managed to get the work done in a timely fashion and we were able to use the kitchen pretty much the whole time they were doing the remodel itself. They were also able to direct us to various companies to pick out different things we needed for the job for reasonable costs.

This was the second time that I was using Custom Home Works. Earlier in the year they had done an excellent job on re-modelling my kitchen. Re-modelling the bathroom had always been on the cards. I did not include it in the earlier project (remodelling the kitchen) because I did not have knowledge of the work that they do. Having seen what they did on the first project I was more than happy to have them come back to work on the bathroom project for me. I had a few ideas regarding what I wanted the bathroom to look like. Bill and Dave listened patiently and offered very good suggestions. All in all an excellent job was done and I have no complaints; from the design phase through to the finishing. I was happy with their work the first time and am even happier the second time. I would recommend this contractor for any home improvement job.

We could not be happier. This is the first time we used this company and we will definitely use them again. We were not too sure what we wanted and had a set budget. Bill and Dave worked patiently with us to educate us on the design possibilities and on maximizing our budget. They were very respectful and easy to work with; never once belittling what we wanted to do with our meager budget. In the end we had a kitchen to be proud of, finished on time and on budget. Dave and Bill replaced the old wooden flooring, installed a new pantry cabinet, a set of new wall and floor cabinets, replaced the kitchen sink and its plumbing and installed tile backsplash for the sink and behind the stove. They kept everything very neat and the dust at a minimum. They put down covering to protect the floor and cleaned up every night before leaving. Dave checked with us when issues were encountered to see how we wanted to proceed and he was very forthcoming about different solutions and pricing. This company worked really hard to make our kitchen very functional for us and at a very reasonable price. They did not cut corners and they were really helpful in creating a workable kitchen. They had good ideas and suggestions for how to make cabinet spaces work better through different shelving, door schemes, etc. They are very detailed-oriented.

The project went on schedule even though they had to unexpectedly break up and remove some concrete around the patio.

We could not be happier. We have used this company before to remodel 2 bathrooms and we will definitely use them again. We weren't sure what we wanted and had a pretty fixed budget; we also needed to keep our current lighting and flooring. Bill worked with us (for months!) to show what could be done and where you would get the most bang for your money. He was very respectful of our budget and we ended up with a great kitchen on time and on budget. Dave and Brin repaired and installed a new pantry cabinet, relocated a cabinet, repaired all old cabinets, and installed the new doors, drawers and drawer fronts. They arrived at 8:00 and worked until 5:30 or 6:00 every day to get things done quickly so we could get back into the kitchen asap. They kept everything very neat and the dust at a minimum. They put down covering to protect the floor and vacuumed every night before leaving. We kept the existing tile flooring and not a single scratch was put on it during the remodel. We have 2 small kids and they were really nice about questions, etc. from the kids. Dave checked with us when issues were encountered to see how we wanted to proceed and he was very candid about different solutions and pricing. Dave and Bill installed the tile backsplash and it looks fantastic. This company worked really hard to make our kitchen very functional for us and at a very reasonable price. They did not cut corners and they were really helpful in engineering a workable kitchen. They had good ideas and suggestions for how to make cabinet spaces work better through different shelving, door schemes, etc. Nothing was done by rote; they are very detailed-oriented.

They were great to work with! They were punctual and did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. The crew was very courteous while in my home. I also appreciated the helpfulness in selecting options; they are clearly knowledgeable in their field. This company provided a very professional experience from start to finish.

Overall, the experience was excellent. They provided good design suggestions, the job was completed in a timely manner and slightly under budget. During the process, every night, he cleaned up the work area. Bill Maibach was an excellent craftsman, and I have been more pleased with the completed work than I expected to be. All of the workers were courteous as well; it was a pleasure to have them work in my home. I've already recommended him to my sister, and I would recommend him without any hesitation to others for similar projects.

They seemed to not to be good a the foresight with the end result. Little things we would do daily were not thought of during the design process. They did come back and try to remedy the small items. Overall, they did do a good job. The process did take a little longer then expected.
