My ash tree was struck by lightening and a big limb fell. I contacted 2 companies listed on Angie's List. One didn't return my call and one called and said he was too busy. So I looked for a company with a lot of employees and a good rating and found Charter Oaks. They were out within a day of calling with an estimate. They told me the tree was not in good shape and needed to come down. They took down the tree and cleaned up all the mess. The next day another guy came out and ground the stump. This stump grinding machine tore up my lawn a little and cut my cable line. The cable company was able to come out and repair it that day. The man from Charter Oaks said this happens a lot because cable lines are only buried a few inches below the ground. If I had to do it over again, I'd ask Charter Oaks to just cut the tree close to the ground and not take the stump out. I would have saved the $70 stump removal charge, too.

The first crew arrived on time but due to rain overnight had to wait a while before climbing the trees. Things went well until their chipper jammed a couple times and they ran out of fuel for their chainsaws and leaf blower. I gave them what I had for my snowblower. They ended up being here quite late and didn't get the pruning completed as per the work order. I called about that the next day but it took a couple more weeks before another crew finished the job. All the guys on the crews were very competent and friendly. Overall I'm satisfied with the completed job.

They were excellent as far as timeliness went!!! First rate. The only issue that we had is that they took off more of our trees than we would have liked. This is a bit of lack of communication on both of our parts. We would definitely use them again.

Charter Oaks team came within 24 hours, removed to felled tree portion and were back within 4 days to remove the remaining part. James and his team were great. This was not an easy task. My yard is too narrow to bring in any large equipment, so all work had to be done by hand, including carting huge pieces of the tree out to the street. The team worked diligently to remove the tree from my garage so that it could be tarped. They then returned and took the major part of a day to climb and remove the remainder.

They did an excellent job, cleaned everything up and I'm having them back to fertilize the back tree.

I got a quote within a day of requesting one, and work was completed within 3 business days (although they did say it could take up to 7 business days depending on their work loads). The work was exceptional - they were done within hours and cleaned up the entire area. The trees look great, and I couldn't be more pleased with their work. I *highly* recommend this company.

They worked very quickly and I was amazed at how fast the tree was removed. They were also very safe as they worked and no damage was done anywhere despite the size of the tree. I was very pleased.

They were very thorough. They were very, very quick. There was a crew of about eight guys and they were in and out of here in about three and a half hours. They were very friendly to deal with. The owner was there and he was very thorough and helpful. We were going to buy some trees from him, but he told us he would get a better price from a different vendor.

A very good customer experience. Charter Oaks provided the estimate within the time frame they promised on the phone. Once we scheduled the service the wait was only a few business days. They called the night before to let us know they were coming. The next day we had thunderstorms in our area and they called first thing to apologize for the delay (not their fault) and rescheduled for the following day. Weather cooperated the second-time around and their crew came out, worked efficiently and left our beds and yard clean of debris. A second crew came the following morning to grind the stumps. We were very pleased with their work.

They are fantastic. They give an estimate and they will make suggestions on what should be planted. They guarantee their work and they will follow up the service call to see if we are satisfied. They respect your property with cleanliness as well.

They did a great job, I have actually used them before several times. They always come out and do exactly what they say they are going to do. They are very neat and very tidy. I would never hesitate to call them.

I called for quotes on tree and stump removal, they were very quick to call me back with quote and did the work in a couple of days, they are coming back to treat the ash tree, but when they grinded the chip from the tree they filled in the hole with all those chips, and created a mountain.

I left them a message on their voicemail on a Sunday, received a phone call saying they would be out for an estimate which I received on my front door. I was very pleased with the price and called back to authorize the work. We received another phone call to say the work would be scheduled within 5 days and it would be done in two steps with the trimming and removal on day one followed by stump grinding a day later. That is how it went and we couldn't be happier.

They are responsive, thorough, and their prices are reasonable. They have a good staff and were very good at answering all of our questions about insecticides.

It took a few days to get the arborist out for a quote (Stephan actually came very early in the morning the day after the one we expected). He was knowledgeable and friendly. One of our trees is live but partially hollow and is our family's favorite tree (shades the back yard, has a tire swing), and he gave us the option of trying to preserve it by extensive thinning, since it is not close enough to our house to fall on it. Two other trees are healthy and just needed a little thinning, while the fourth had many damaged branches to remove. It took a few more days to get the crew out to do the work, since thunderstorms damaged some other clients' trees and bumped us down the priority list. It was still only about 1-1/2 to 2 weeks from my initial phone inquiry until the work was done. A crew of three men came over and spent about 4 hours working on the four trees. They cleaned up everything and hauled the branches away.

Two workers quickly did the thinning and were willing to remove specific branches I wanted removed. They took away all of the branches and raked the yard to the point where it was hard to tell that they had even did any work. This is the third time I have used Charter Oaks and would highly recommend them to anyone.

They did a great job taking the tree down and grinding the stump. The stump was very large and required a second trip in order to get it ground down deep enough for replanting grass. They made the second trip when we asked them with no delay.

They left the wood neatly stacked at my requests, so they were very accommodating. We have always used them and will continue to. They gave an estimate and I actually paid less than the estimate.

Came out promptly and examined trees. Gave written estimate for treating with preventative chemicals. Estimate was very reasonable and they returned in about 12 days to treat both trees. Recommended another treatment in fall because of the large size and this being initial application, then annually afterward. Good information from the arborist. Because of their great scores on the list we gave them a try and were not disappointed. Highly recommended.

This was right before Memorial Day. My neighbors were having an important party and this was on the property line. I asked Stephen if there was any way he could get the tree out of there Friday. He didn't know, schedule was tight, would get back to me. I figured "no luck" when I didn't hear from him on Fri early morning but I got a call at 8:30 with the question: "Are my guys there yet?" I couldn't have been happier to see 2 guys outside sizing up the job ready to get to work. I can't thank Stephen enough. Job was done well, men cleaned up all the tree debris--no muss or fuss. This company is wonderful and a joy to deal with.

Three men did the job. One fellow was the tree climber who did the cutting and the other two fellows hauled away the wood and chipped the small limbs, etc. The day was very wet and it was really a messy day for the guys doing the work. The job had actually been scheduled for the previous day and that was declared a rain day. Everyone worked very hard and did a fine job. The stump grinder operation was expected to take place before the end of the week but I eventually called the office the following week to see if we had been overlooked. The man came to grind the stumps the very next day.

He arrived on time to do the job. He was kind of professional while he was working. The quality of his work was good. I would not use him in the future. They were going to cut down a perfectly good tree in my yard, and I was not happy about it.
