It worked out very well. They did their job and were easy to work with. They came a couple of days earlier than expected and a neighbor was parked in the way. They came back a few days later and removed the trees. They cleaned up pretty well altho we did have to clean up a little more afterward.

They responded to our call and came out when they said they would; we were not here when they did their work which they completed on time and within budget

A very frustrating experience with a company my sister had recommended. Twice they never showed up to do the work. When I called to schedule the service, I was told they would be out within the week to do the spraying. When no one came out after 10 days, I called again to find out what happened. They couldn't find any record of my call or my quote for the spraying service. The person I spoke with was unhelpful and seemed disinterested in determining the problem. I finally said just forget it. A few days later, on a Saturday morning, I received a call from the office manager who had been out on vacation. She asked if I wanted to proceed with the spraying, explained that she had been out and that's why no one knew what was going on and didn't know where to look to find my quote. She apologized and I agreed to proceed with the spraying. They were to come out the next week. After another 10 days of no activity, I again called and left a voice message. I didn't receive a call back so, called again at the end of the next business day. The woman I spoke said she didn't call me back because she needed to speak with the person doing the spraying to find out why they hadn't been out and when they would be. No one ever called me back.

Excellent service. On first visit, wind was too much for climber, he made excellent decision for safety. Within one hour I received a call to reschedule two days later. Rescheduled appointment went very well, work was done efficiently and professionally

They came to my house within two days to provide an estimate, which I accepted. They came back the next week to do the work. They removed the damaged tree, the remaining trees, and ground down the stumps. They raked up most of the loose branches. The total cost was $336. I would not hesitate to call them again.

They did excellent work, and were prompt and courteous as well. Cleaned up good, too.

They cleaned up after they were finished, polite and service was great overall.

I called last Fall when they were very busy working on the tree damage caused in our high wind storm. They sent someone out to look at the tree to see what needed to be done and left an estimate for me. The estimate pointed out that they have a special winter discount for work done from December??-February ??. I didn't call them until mid December and they said it would be in the next several weeks, but they would call with an exact date. About a week(or less)later they called and scheduled a day and time. They were on time and did exactly what they had come to do. They were professional, answered all my questions and asked if I was OK with the job. They cleaned up after themselves as well. This is a good company to deal with. I'll call them again.

I was overwhelmed by their responsiveness of their service even though they were so busy after the hurricane. I did not expect them for weeks, but they came much more promptly than that. The owner came out on Sunday and gave and estimate. He suggested a couple of other things that might need done. They came promptly to the site as scheduled and cleaned up after themselves very well.

Excellent and prompt service. Great care was taken by the crew to ensure that our property wasn't damaged. Crew started at the top, cutting off sections of the top of the tree which were tied off before cutting, and then removed via a bucket truck to the chipper parked in the driveway. The work went very smoothly and quickly, and a subcontractor returned the next day to grind down the stump. Charter Oaks doesn't scrimp on the crew members (important when taking down trees), and they start and finish the same day. Really appreciated the company's follow-up, since this was Ike damage (September), and they have been swamped for three months.

It's been good. I sent them an email to see if they could do it. He responded and came out very quickly. He left the quote in my mailbox; it was all easy and quick. I will be using them.

First rate all the way--from the initial quote (you're dealing directly with the owner)--through the clean-up, which was thorough. Charter Oaks was able to save a grand old tree that had lost a few limbs in the windstorm, remove the threat of a tree falling into the house, take out a small tree, and clean up a large tree trunk that had been down on the ground for some time. Some of the area was hard to get to, but there was never a word of complaint! They started work a day after we gave them the OK, which was important because of the tree that could have fallen into the house. We're very happy!!

It did take time for them to actually come out and remove the trees. They got the work done quickly and cleaned up very quickly. I have dealt with them before and they left us a detailed estimate. The people that came out were friendly and talked to us about the job. They were also neat and clean.

They arrived on time and worked diligently over 6 hours to remove the trees. They also removed a neighbor's dead tree under a separate contract, but accessed it from our yard. They brought plastic sheets so the bucket truck and crane did not damage the lawn. One of the trees was next to the house and they safely removed it with no damage to anything nearby. We decided to remove these trees after we lost other large trees in Hurricane Ike in September. Their price was similar to other companies, but their estimate was clear and there was no question about the final price or the work to be done.

We are happy with Charter Oaks and would use them again. We received estimates from three tree services that we found on Angie s list. Charter Oaks was the lowest, so we went with them. They removed three trees from one of our tree beds in our front yard. It took them about three hours to cut the trees down, grind them up, and then clean up afterwords. They trimmed the lower limbs and then fell the trees. They then trimmed the fallen pieces to manageable lengths and fed them into their super-shredder. They cleaned up well after themselves. They did a very good job. Their stump grinder came within a day or two after the tree-trimmers. His machine had a saw-blade on the front and a dirt-blade (like a bull dozer) on the back. I would say he shredded the stump as opposed to grinding it. I expected saw dust but got shredded wheat. Good news: He also shredded parts of the root system that extended from the stumps into the lawn. That was also the bad news since he shredded small parts of my lawn in the process. Although he made a good effort to clean up and smooth out the results of his work, I will need to do some more work to fix my lawn and my tree bed next spring: clean-up; smoothing; and grass planting. Entire process, from estimate to grinding, took about a week.

It was great. The owner came out evaluated the situation and made recomendations. The quote was very reasonable they did alot more work than I had expected. They were very careful not to damage any property.

They came out and cut down the big branches that were ready to fall after a storm and hauled everything away.

He listened and was very responsive. He was open to different suggestions and meeting my needs.

I received a quote the day after my initial call, and upon accepting their bid for the job, I was told they would call me sometime in the next few days to schedule. Later that same day I received a callback and they scheduled the tree removal for the following day, which was a Wednesday. They also scheduled the stump grinding for two days later. The delay in the grinding was to allow for marking of utilities. The crew arrived the day they indicated. While the crew was at my property for the tree removal, our neighbor noticed the crew, and being the good neighbor she is, asked if she could dig up the rose bushes adjacent to one of the trees. The crew instead dug up the roses and put them out of harms way. This was definitely a wonderful gesture and very much appreciated. I was not home during the tree removal, but my neighbor reported that the crew was incredibly efficient at cutting down and removing all of the debris. Upon my return home that evening, other than the obvious missing trees, the lawn and surrounding areas was untouched. I'd even swear they removed what leaves had accumulated in my yard. The stump and root grinding was completed on the Friday as promised. All of the debris was returned to holes and all of the visible surface roots were ground. I proceeded to remove the wood chips, and in digging them up, I did unsurface to large root that ran along the driveway. These were not something I could easily remove myself, but neither were they readily visible at the surface. When I called Charter Oaks the following Monday to explain, without hesitation, the response was simply, "no problem, we will send the stump grinding back out." I don't know the standard for grinding, but this was outstanding customer service. Overall I am very pleased with the work, the cost, and their responsiveness. I would definitely use them again for tree service, and as they are also in the landscape business, plan to contact them regarding that area. The neighbor was also very pleased and I expect will use them as well.

They cleaned up the yard after they were done. It was so clean that had I not known they did the work I would not know someone did it.

Great, on time, did the work, cleaned up. A tight spot to get into so I'm really not complaining about the wooden gate getting banged up.

I wasn't home. Neighbors said they brought a crane, bucket and chipper. Backyard is fenced, so the work was done remotely. Took about 4 hours. During removal, an errant branch fell and damaged three strips of interlocked vinyl siding on the back of the house. Though getting the vinyl replaced was not a task I had counted on, especially since it was a small job and most siding companies are still doing storm work, I was able to replace it myself (I now have a new "this old house" skill). Gretchen was extremely accommodating in resolving the problem to my satisfaction. I am satisfied with the outcome. I ranked a "B" on quality because there was accidental damage to the house.

FANTASTIC!!!! We waited until two week after the storm and called four companies. Charter Oaks is the only place that returned my call. Gretchen took down all of my information on Friday and said they will be out for an estimate no later then Thursday. On Monday, Phil showed up at our house, gave us an estimate, we approved it later that day and they came to cut the tree down on Tuesday. On Wednesday it rained, so they could not grind the stump out until Thursday, then came back on Friday and picked up the remaining huge logs. They exceeded our expectation on the whole project. The job was completed before we expected to have it even started. We also had five smaller trees to take down and small stumps to grind, but they were not impacted by the storm. Phil advised us that they have a discounted if you have work done in December, when they are not so busy. We will take them up on that.

Due to the wind storm in September our Oak Tree was blown down and we needed someone to remove it. Since we dealt with Charter Oaks in the past we called them the next week and got their answering machine, which stated due to the high volume of calls you should leave a message, which we did, and they would get back with you. It is now three weeks later and we still haven't had a reply. Luckily we stumbled upon another tree service doing business in our area and they were able to schedule us for the following week. The other tree service company did a great job! And, they were probably a lot less expensive than Charter Oaks would have been. We will not use Charter Oaks in the future but will highly recommend the other tree service company.

Charter oaks provided us with a prompt quote (with all of the calls they got, that's really saying something) and were able to schedule us in very quickly. The work began at approximately 7:30 in the morning with a 3 man crew and the owner. By 3:00 p.m., the work was complete - all of the wood was hauled away, all of the brush was chipped (they even cut down an old stump and took some of our neighbor's brush), and the work site was left clean and neat. Charter Oak brought a wood chipper, a small fork lift, and several chain saws. The little touches were most appreciated. Overall, we were impressed with the company's professionalism and concern. We felt they really knew what they were talking about, and we'll have them back to remove a third tree that is not a present danger, but was damaged by the storm and should be removed. Gretchen, at the office, was our first contact with Charter Oaks, and she was great to work with.
