I had a pleasant experience on the phone when I called. The person took all my information about the trees and within a couple of days I had a written estimate. I then received a call to dicuss and finalize and within a few days, the job was scheduled. I was surprised to receive a reminder call the evening before. The crew arrived promptly with their equipment to handle the larger trees and worked quite efficiently. I was very concerned about the quality of the pruning and any damage to my trees or my landscaping. I was very pleasantly surprised. The lead persons answered all my questions and explained what they were going to do. Within a few hours they were done and I was extremely pleased with how well the trees in the front yard had been pruned. They also took down a 25-foot mature pine, next to the house. Not only did they clean up all the tree prunings, they also swept up all the accumulated pine needles next to the house. There was very little sign of them left. A couple of days later, they came back and ground out the stump. I couldn't be more pleased. I have had one or two experiences with mediocre pruning and trimming jobs in the past. It was a pleasant surprise to see the competence and professional way they worked. I have referred them to a friend and to two of my neighbors and all of them are happy with the jobs done.

My service was suppose to be done in 3 weeks it was well pass 4 and I think It was only done then because I called. My estimate was for 2 large trees and one small tree and shrub free. They came and asked if they could put their equipment in my neighbors yard. I told them to ask them and to make sure it would not tear up yard. Well their equipment leaked hydraulic fluid in my driveway, street and killed their grass. They didn't cut my small tree and my shrub they just chopped off the back of the shrub and left it looking terrible. Asked them to fix and said because it was just an add on they wouldn't fix. My large tree in back I wanted a limb off going towards my neighbors house but said they couldn't get to it so live with it. When they were here 3 neighbors wanted estimates but I won't have them use them now. My neighbor across the street had them cut his tree on the fly. No estimate done by your office in advance. Today I got called to see if I got my invoice. I said I paid the day of service in full. They don't even know who pays what. Very poor service.

The cost of service was one of the more economical quotes we received. They were flexible about rescheduling the date of our services when we had delays in other projects. The workmen were courteous and did a careful job bringing down a large spruce tree and others. They cleaned up most of the debris after being asked to do so. There was a delay in having the utilities marked which delayed the grinding of the stumps. There was an extra charge to grind the stumps deep and wide.

Excellent results! Once the grass grows in 100 percent, the front yard will be exactly what we hoped for. We have used Charter Oaks on four previous occasions to remove four trees, all of which were at least 30-40 feet high. The results were always excellent; the workers always showed up on time, performed professionally and always left the site as it stood before they arrived. I must say that the owner, Phil Mallory, is a gentleman to work with and his price is always more than competitive. I highly. recommend Charter Oaks to anyone expecting excellent work.

We had an explicit contract for services to be provided (removal of six trees, stump grinding for the two large trees in our front yard so we could replant), with payment on completion of the entire job. All was explicitly in writing. Team came once and did 20% of job (removed two trees). We called two weeks later and asked to come and do rest of job. They came and took down the remaining four trees and didn't stump grind. We called three weeks later and asked them to come and grind the stumps. They didn't come - but they did manage to bill us - twice!. We called and indicated that the job was not done, at which point they indicated we needed to pay them now for the trees they did remove, and that we would incur lawyer costs and interest charges. We asked them to please complete the job, at which point they said that they would not complete the job until we paid for the tree removal which was "COD on removal of each tree." We have a clear contract stating that payment is due on completion of the entire job. Essentially - we had to repeatedly ask the company to complete the job in the contract, they did about 70% of it, and now are refusing to finish the job as contracted and want to force a lien on our property. Short story is - this company is bonkers! We have filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted a lawyer. This company is worse than sub-par and people should steer clear. We still have big stumps in our front yard and are being threatened with litigation. We made the mistake of hiring them without looking at the prior complaint against then in the BBB. If we had, we would never had contracted with them. BUYER BEWARE

The tree guys really knew their stuff and worked together like a well oiled machine.

Estimate with pricing options for work to be completed was provided and work was scheduled in a timely manner pending winter weather conditions. Crew arrived on time, introduced themselves and reviewed the work to be completed. with stump grinding to occur several days later. Work was completed on the scheduled date and stump grinding completed within the same week. We are very pleased with the work that was done and the professionalism of the Charter Oaks crew.

Charter Oaks did a great job. They worked quickly and removed the trees and hauled away or chipped the debris in about 2 hours. In a couple of days their crew came back and ground down the stumps including one from a prior removal. They filled in the depressions with chips and leveled the ground. We are very happy with their work.

I had not heard from Charter Oaks for a number of weeks, and contacted them by phone on July 8th, a full month after work was supposed to have been completed. I was informed that we were overlooked, and that as soon as the owner got in the office that day, he would get the work scheduled. We did get a call the next day and work was scheduled to be completed on July 14th. July 14th came and was rained out. My wife had taken the day off to make sure they knew to access the neighbor's yard for one tree, but they did not call us until late that afternoon to informed us that once again, they would reschedule as soon as the owner came into the office and call us back to inform us when they would be out to complete the work. Fast forward to August 4th when we receive a call saying that they are finally coming out on August 6th to complete the work requested back in May. I called them back to cancel the service, as we had already found another tree service company on Angie's List that was much more receptive, communicative, and punctual. I was asked the reason why I was cancelling, so that the owner could know, and informed the caller that the owner should already know since he has been the one person at the center of this this for months, but that it came down to ordering the work 3 months ago and nothing having been done and next to no communication from the company or the owner. I had used Charter Oaks at my old home a few years ago and was impressed. However, this experience was nothing short of horrible. No communication, missed deadlines, no explanation, and an owner that neither correctly empowers his employees to get work completed (i.e. We can't do anything until the owner looks at this...), or seems to care enough that one of his customers has been hanging for months waiting on a job that was supposed to be completed in 1-2 weeks. This was a terrible experience, and I hope others avoid this poorly-run company.

It took them 2 1/2 hours - did a great job and cleaned up afterwards. I have been using them for the past 25 years and have never had a bad experience. I have always been pleased with their work and professionalism.

I called for an estimate which they were prompt in providing. Scheduling was done when they were in the area, but timely enough as I did not need to be there. They cleaned up all of the detritus and the tree looks great.

There's never any scheduling problems. The receptionist is knowledgeable and gives me options when I call. They come out and evaluate the tree and give me on site options. They're honest and knowledgeable. The treatment works just fine. They come on time and do what they say they'll do.

I had Charter Oaks cut down three dead ash trees in my back yard. I have used Charter Oaks in the past with great results. I scheduled them to remove the trees sometime during the winter months to receive a discounted price. They arrived and removed the trees on a day where there was several inches of snow on the ground. They did a great job removing all the branches and cleaning up after they were done. They did the best job they could considering there was snow on the ground. Within the next week after the trees were removed and the snow had melted they came back and ground the stumps. I would recommend Charter Oaks for your tree trimming and removal needs. They do a great job and the price is reasonable in my opinion.

O'Shay and Tino did a great job - the trees look great. They trimmed 2 river birches, 1 crab apple, 1 red maple and 1 Japanese maple.

Estimator came out and was very friendly and seemed to know what he was talking about. It was a toss up between Kevin Masters Tree service and Charter Oaks. I guess I was swayed by the fact the Kevin Masters himself came out to do the estimate which was just a bit higher. My Son owns a home in Sunbury and Charter Oaks cut down two trees and trimmed another. They did an excellent job, so I would not hesitate to recommend Charter Oaks.

It did not go like our previous experiences with them. It seemed like they had no interest in doing this job. They scheduled the work and then called and said it was too cold. They came a few days later and got it done. It just wasn't a good experience.

Quality of work very good, cleaned up especially well. Good rapport with employee who provided estimate. Difficulty getting the date of service scheduled. Lots of promises to call and schedule. I had to call back several times before actually got the date determined. Phone calls were continually answered with "I will get back to you with a date" and then I had to call again!

They were absolutely phenomenal! Just unbelievable! It was a huge tree. There were two side branches and they were both 60 feet each. It was a $3500 job and I would say that again in a heart beat. Actually, they couldn't take it down from the back. They had to come in from the front with a crane and take it over the top. They did it without any extra damage which was the Insurance's concern. There was no extra damage. They did it and cleaned up and was phenomenal! I would recommend them to anyone.

Javin came to my house to give me an estimate on various trees and other brush I was considered having removed from my backyard. A linden tree had grown so much and was so dense that grass had stopped growing in most of the yard. He was prompt and courteous and spent a lot of time explaining the various options available for providing more light so that grass could grow once again. I also had questions about tidying up other parts of my yard. Javin thoroughly explained the different services they could provide to address different problems; he also broke down the estimate for each part of the services he recommended-- very helpful! Today Jordan and Tino came out to perform the services I had chosen. Although there was some confusion as to the time they would arrive, upon arrival they performed the work quickly and efficiently. I was amazed at how thoroughly they cleaned up the yard after they finished the trimming. They made my entire yard look better! Both men were very pleasant and courteous and considerate of my property. If my experience with these three employees is representative of the manner in which the company performs all its jobs, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing tree work.

They were not on time and the communication was not great.
