If you are familiar with any of our advertising you know that these words are at the end of each and every one of our ads. But these eight words are more than just a slogan at CARE Heating and Cooling. They are our motto and the basis of our business philosophy, and the way we want to be remembered by you at the end of the day. From the beginning I wanted CARE be a different kind of company. After spending many years working for other heating and cooling companies, I became alarmed by the trends I was seeing in the residential heating and cooling industry. “Increase sales”, “raise your prices” and “make every employee a sales person” became the operating statements of many companies, leading to the biggest fraud of all: paying service technicians to sell replacement furnaces and air conditioners. In the 1980s a major manufacturer began to promote to its dealers a unique sales technique – have service technicians sell replacements. The rationale was that a service technician had the inherent trust of the consumer. If a repair was needed a service technician had ability to take advantage of that trust and offer to install a replacement system. This provided an immediate solution to an immediate problem that would lock out any competition, result in a much higher than normal selling price and much higher profits. Because companies make more money, a lot more in fact, selling you a new system rather than fixing the one you own this approach was widely adopted over the next couple of decades. To generate even more sales and profits many companies today apply a lot of pressure to service technicians to sell even more. Several local companies’ guidelines state specifically that a consumer is to be advised to replace their furnace if a repair, even a minor one, is needed whenever a furnace or air conditioner is over 10 years old. They set goals for their service technicians to turn at least 1 in 10 service calls into sales leads and pay them a commission when a unit is sold. Service technicians can also get caught up in the quest for more money, with some diagnosing problems that may not actually exist just to earn a commission. This is how “cat toys in furnaces” and “chipmunks with attitudes and power drills” became major problems. So what makes CARE Heating and Cooling different? It is my philosophy that we are in business not only to get new customers, but more importantly to keep them. Never will anyone in the service department profit by recommending to a consumer to replace their furnace or air conditioner. Not only do we offer free second opinions for a diagnosis of a bad compressor or heat exchanger, we will often second opinion ourselves when condemning equipment to be sure we have not made a mistake. If a mistake is made, it will be an honest one and we will stand behind everything we do. Lastly, you can trust us to offer you the lowest possible price on all services and installations we do. I was under a bit of a time crunch as I am selling my house, but the office was able to schedule me quickly, so I went ahead and purchased an Angie's List Deal for $49. Kyle called when he was on his way and arrived shortly after. He took care of the tune-up and said everything looked good, other than needing a new filter for my humidifier, which I bought and he installed. I had one other HVAC-related item on my punch list - I needed the flue vent on my water heater sealed-up and Kyle took care of that for me too. I would use Care Heating and Cooling again.
Description of Work: I had them out to do a tune-up on my furnace. Kyle took care of that, replaced a filter in my humidifier, and sealed-up the flue on my water heater.

I think that turned out fine. It was the first time I used them. The service was fine. I think they were pretty prompt and everything. It was easy to schedule and they were on time so there was no problem. There were no additional charges.
Description of Work: I purchased CARE Heating & Cooling Big Deal purchase in May. They did an air condition service where they basically just make sure that everything in the system and furnace and everything was operating okay before the summer.

I first had to cancel the appointment due to a late snow. There was no way to get in my driveway. The tech came out 4-1-15. See above notes. Then 5-18-15, I see that the humidifier is leaking again. I have ran the A/C unit for less than 8 hours. I call and talk with a female rep at CARE, advise of my problems and ask that after she speaks with someone knowledgable,that I receive a call back. She calls 5-19-15, and I'm told.....we will have someone come out at NO COST. She stated that the "life time" for the humidifier might be up. Funny, I never heard ANYTHING about this my service call 4-1-15. CARE will come back but if it's NOT in a timely manner.....apparently, the "No Cost" goes away?! I explain, they can't come for two weeks. (next month). We are talking about service done in 1 1/2 months!! I said I would call back next month. That's when I hear...there might be a "timeframe". I explain, I can unplug the unit, if you have a tech come back out and I need a new humidifier, that will cost monies I don't have until next month. The call did NOT go well!! Either they (CARE) stands by their (tech"s) work or they don't. My timeframe is NOT going to change. Why should theirs? .Nothing on the invoice states there is a "timeframe" for their service work to be addressed If I had "thought" I would need to replace my humidifier, I could have decided to "repair or replace) on 4-1-15. Not after repairing the humidifier and having use of it for 45 days!!
Description of Work: They came out to access a humidifier attached to my furnace. Once the humidifier was detached,cleaned and the tech saw that the humidiifer was working.....he began to do other service checks. ??? Why?.....I was talked to about my COD monitor, what this man thought about a missing humidifer cover and what he perceived to be the dangers of that. Not ONCE did this man tell me that I might have more problems with my humidifier!! The fact that the Tech spent more time on other items non related, only made me think that there wouldn't be "additional issues" with my humidifier.

Last year we decided to replace our old noisy heat pump with a new high efficiency model. As a homeowner it has been my experience that when it comes to buying a heat pump the company that installs and services it is just as important as who makes it. Over the years we have dealt with several heating/cooling contractors and we were always impressed with the technicians who came from Care. In April of 2014, we purchased a new Lennox high efficiency Heat Pump from Care Heating and Cooling and we were very pleased with the results of the installation. A couple of weeks ago we had our first ?annual checkup?, which was included in the contract and the original purchase price. We were very impressed with Kyle Fisher who was the service technician who did the inspection. The first thing he noticed was that we had a humidifier from the original air handler that was not working. I explained that it had not worked for five years and that several technicians had looked at it but no one was able to figure out what was wrong with the humidifier. Kyle asked if he could take a look at it. Within ten minutes he figured out that one small part was defective and asked if I wanted it fixed. He had the part on his truck, and I didn?t have to pay a labor charge since it was part of the ?free? inspection just the cost of the part. He then went through everything with me including the new thermostat. He took his time and explained how everything worked, what to watch for and some simple suggestions to help maintain the system. He answered all of my questions. I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. I asked for his name because the next year I want this guy back. Going with Care Heating and Cooling was a smart move.

The tech came out and inspected the air conditioning unit. Wore shoe covers every time he entered house. Said it was old but still ok, just needed a pound of freon and a new filter. Did not try to up sale anything. Gave me some tips on getting the most out of the life of the A/C unit. Would definitely recommend.

The furnace put out heated air for a few days before blowing cold again. Provider came back out (free of charge) and said it was a bad ignition control module. Due to the age of furnace and cost of new icm we elected to replace the furnace. The technician was on time and professional.
Description of Work: Replaced flame sensor on furnace in order for ignition source to light. Returned a week later and diagnosed a bad control module.

The technician showed up on time and did exactly what he was hired to do. He came in and put coverings over his shoes before coming into the home. He was professional and on I was very happy and satisfied with the overall experience.

tech thought it was a faulty valve at first; knowing a little about this stuff I thought so too. But the tech was thorough enough to not be thrown off... found the root cause and resolved the issue in a timely manner. The office-staff worked directly with my tenants to get things scheduled and completed, making it easy on me (the landlord) by not being in the middle of logistics and planning.

Furnace stopped heating in the middle of cold spell in January. Care Heating arrived in about 4 hours from my call for help. The technician was friendly but very professional. He was able to diagnose and fix the issue quickly.- faulty igniter. I purchased a Angie's Deal from this company and was able to save about half on the original diagnostic service call.

Care Heating and Cooling tuned up on my air conditioner. A 12:00pm to 3:00pm window was provided for the service to be performed. A representative called us about 2:00pm and said they were running about 20 minutes late. She asked if that presented a problem for us. We were ok with that. About 3:15pm Craig called and said he would be there in about 5 minutes. We appreciated the calls from the office and technician. In the past I have called companies and cancelled services because they didn't arrive on time or notify us about delays. Technician Craig performed the tune up. He was very friendly and answered all questions in detail. After Craig completed the work, he told me everything looked fine. I was concerned about the Freon level as we had to have some added last year after we purchased our condo. I was worried about leakage. He asked me how much was added. I had to get the work order and showed it to him. He said the one pound that was added was not much. Craig gave me several options to consider if the problem came back. The work order consisted of a long list of items checked. I was impressed with the detailed information. We had Care tune up our heater last fall and I was impressed with that work. We will continue to use Care in the future.

My blower had stopped working in my 19 year old furnace last night and I was concerned I might need a new furnace. I called this morning and was able to make an appointment for between noon to 3PM and purchase the Big Deal to pay for the service call. Everyone involved was friendly. The technician was here at 12:30. It turns out I just needed a new capacitor. The motor had not been damaged because I'd been home to turn the furnace off when it started making noise. The technician had the capacitor in his truck, installed it, and I have heat. He also looked over the furnace and tested for CO2 at 3 locations. I am going to get a service care package for annual maintenance from this company so these sorts of problems can better be prevented.

I opted for the replacement furnace after comparing costs of repair vs a new unit. They came out and were punctual, professional and very informative about the unit. They hauled the old one away and cleaned up after themselves. They took a lot less time than expected and had us up and running very quickly.
