If you are familiar with any of our advertising you know that these words are at the end of each and every one of our ads. But these eight words are more than just a slogan at CARE Heating and Cooling. They are our motto and the basis of our business philosophy, and the way we want to be remembered by you at the end of the day. From the beginning I wanted CARE be a different kind of company. After spending many years working for other heating and cooling companies, I became alarmed by the trends I was seeing in the residential heating and cooling industry. “Increase sales”, “raise your prices” and “make every employee a sales person” became the operating statements of many companies, leading to the biggest fraud of all: paying service technicians to sell replacement furnaces and air conditioners. In the 1980s a major manufacturer began to promote to its dealers a unique sales technique – have service technicians sell replacements. The rationale was that a service technician had the inherent trust of the consumer. If a repair was needed a service technician had ability to take advantage of that trust and offer to install a replacement system. This provided an immediate solution to an immediate problem that would lock out any competition, result in a much higher than normal selling price and much higher profits. Because companies make more money, a lot more in fact, selling you a new system rather than fixing the one you own this approach was widely adopted over the next couple of decades. To generate even more sales and profits many companies today apply a lot of pressure to service technicians to sell even more. Several local companies’ guidelines state specifically that a consumer is to be advised to replace their furnace if a repair, even a minor one, is needed whenever a furnace or air conditioner is over 10 years old. They set goals for their service technicians to turn at least 1 in 10 service calls into sales leads and pay them a commission when a unit is sold. Service technicians can also get caught up in the quest for more money, with some diagnosing problems that may not actually exist just to earn a commission. This is how “cat toys in furnaces” and “chipmunks with attitudes and power drills” became major problems. So what makes CARE Heating and Cooling different? It is my philosophy that we are in business not only to get new customers, but more importantly to keep them. Never will anyone in the service department profit by recommending to a consumer to replace their furnace or air conditioner. Not only do we offer free second opinions for a diagnosis of a bad compressor or heat exchanger, we will often second opinion ourselves when condemning equipment to be sure we have not made a mistake. If a mistake is made, it will be an honest one and we will stand behind everything we do. Lastly, you can trust us to offer you the lowest possible price on all services and installations we do. Description of Work: Our 20 year old AC died during the 2012 heat wave. We decided to forego repairs and replace it in 2013 Spring. We got several estimates and Christie Marker's explanation and estimate for CARE Heating and Cooling for a Lennox AC was not only lower than the competition (same model) but included a new programmable thermostat AND a cash discount. This was a no-brainer considering their A Angie's rating! We scheduled the installation. The day of the installation, Shane showed up on time with a trailer and confirmed the work to be done, the model of the replacement and the price then got straight to work removing the old equipment. He spent most of the day in the installation, but even helped diagnose and fix a short he kept encountering (a wire had lost it's insulation, easily remedied once located). Once complete he showed us how to program the thermostat and what to do to register the product for the (no cost) extended manufacturer's warranty. The new one looks so much better than the old one, not to mention it actually works! When it's time for the furnace and water heater I will likely award that business to CARE as well, assuming we're still satisfied then as we are now.

Description of Work: Our furnace quit working on one of the coldest days of the year. I called in the morning, at first they gave me a time for the afternoon and said if he was done early or if there was a change in his schedule it may be earlier. They called within an hour saying he was available early. The tech came and he was very polite and professional. He found the problem right away. It was an ignition switch. Knowing this is a common problem, he had one with him. The furnace was fixed within 30 minutes. Plus, he checked it for carbon monoxide, and gave me some hints on how to keep the furnace running. I chose this company based on their radio ads. I felt I could trust them, and they proved me right. What a great experience.

Description of Work: I called Care for a "second opinion" and estimate on furnace replacement. The furnace did, in fact, need to be replaced. The lady from Care was very knowledgeable, very professional and courteous. I came close to using Care, but I chose to use my original Heat/AC contractor based on past experience and a slightly lower price.

Description of Work: Called for an estimate on new AC system. Was given an acceptable price and decided to have our old unit replaced. Care kept us informed about time of arrival for technicians. The techs were very polite and explained everything. The owner of the company came out to check the progress of the installation and to thank us for choosing his company. I would recommend Care to everyone excellent customer service and fair pricing.

Description of Work: Called CARE among two additional companies to get a quote to replace my 30+ yr old furnace and a/c. Christie came right out and took the time to explain everything in detail to my fiance since I was at work. My fiance was very impressed with Christie and with the price and quality equipment they offered, I decided to work with CARE. Two installers showed up on time and explained exactly what they were going to do, were very courteous and efficient, and were wrapped up within the time specified. i was very happy with the service and I'm sure I will be happy with the quality Lennox equipment. I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

Description of Work: I contacted Care Heating & Cooling for installation of a new Heating & Cooling system. After receiving 3 estimates this company had the best price. I contacted The Sales Rep., Mark Baker on a Thursday, and he was able to set up an appointment the following week on a Tuesday. I was initially informed that the work would take approximately 7 hours. The work was actually completed in 4 1/2 hours, and I was very pleased. The Technicians, Shawn and Mike showed up on time, and were very courteous, and professional. The Techs explained everything in detail of what they were going to do, and they were very careful to cover items up in my home, so there would be no damage. After completion of the work, they cleaned up, and you would have never known they were here. I would highly recommend this company, to anyone looking for a new Heating & Cooling System.

Description of Work: A/C Condensor stopped working on Saturday night, July 9, during severe heat spell. I called Care that evening and left a message with the answering service who promised to get someone back to me as soon as possible. I did not receive a call back. I then called again on Sunday, July 11 and as before, left a message for a call back that still did not get received. I called that afternoon, a third time and as before the answering service apologized, but promised to get me a call back. It did not come. On Monday, July 11, I called the Care office. The lady who answered rather defensively stated that because I had call block for ID blocked calls, their tech could not get through though he was trying to call me back. I explained that their answering service never mentioned that as a problem and that the impression I was getting was that Care didn't care. However, because I value their service above others I have tried I did not go to another provider. She promised someone would get out to us that same day, but never promised to fix the communication problem. The technician came out that morning, found the problem to be a capacitor and replaced it with one he had on his truck for the reasonable cost of $132.50. The system is working perfectly. I had visions of paying in the thousands for a new condensor, but because Care is always honest about their service and the conditions of my system, we were greatly relieved to have this more reasonable fix. I am firmly convinced that Care is the best Heating/AC company in Columbus or surrounding area and will always do business with them. They just need to find a better way to get back to customers who have call privacy features.

problem fixed and no issues.
Description of Work: we had problem with a lennox heat pump and they made three visits to try to fix the problem to no avail. They then decided to replace the entire unit after the factory informed them that there was a defect in this model. We were pleased that this was accomplished with no hassle or debate. They simply made it right. In this day and age, it's a refreshing contrast compared to many other issues where we get the run around and circular menus with no real resolution. A pleasure to deal with this company. We will use them in the coming years as we have in the past.

Description of Work: I called the company to come provide me an estimate to install a new furance and central a/c in the home. My mother had recently passed away and I wanted to update for resale. Mike Weins and one of his associates came by the home to give me an estimate. After discussing this in detail and him gathering all of the information that he needed he indicated that he would be back in touch with within a few days with an estimate. After one month had passed with no estimate, I called the company back and asked about the estimate. The associate that came with Mike to the home indicated that they were quite busy now and didn't feel that they could spare the time to do the job. I asked her why I was not informed of this decision by the company since I had been waiting on them to provide a bid for the job. She really didin't give me a satisfactory answer for the lack of followup by them. I feel that this was at the least very poor customer service and her answer was totally unacceptable. UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT HONEST!
Description of Work: Initially we were happy with our selection-we purchased a new Lenox HVAC system. It was recommended that we upgrade to a larger unit to provide better cooling of home. From the very start we had terrible noises that radiated up through the ducts and caused continous vibrating and noise behind the wall of our Masterbedroom. Needless to say, we got very little sleep for a long time. While CARE tried several attempts to find noise which seemed to happen mostly at night, no resolution was found. We were very upset as we had not problems of any kind with our previous Carrier system that was 17 years old. Eventually, while in the year of the unit, and continous house calls, I received a letter from the owner saying that now that our contract was up (1 year warranty on system) they would no longer be servicing us as they felt they could not make us happy. He didn't even have the guts to call me on phone and discuss. So, while they may have good prices, be careful about what they sell you. We have sinced learned that we have a minor crack in the unit that is leaking freeon (sp?) that causes the system to cool. The owner is unprofessional, and does not stand behind his product.
