Derek is professional and understanding. He was able to fix our stand in one day which was excellent! He took the piece from our home and then delivered it back. I asked if he could touch up some scratches/marks on the wood, and he didn't hesitate one bit. He called back within the hour and said he's on his way to the house to touch up the wood! Now, that's excellent service! Thanks Derek!!

Derek did a great job fixing two broken drawers that were never properly installed by a contractor. The drawers were not a standard size and had to be completely rebuilt. I had several other people take a look at them and all suggested a custom cabinet maker/woodworker. Derek responded quickly to my initial message, came out to assess the problem within a few days and then came back out with new drawers the following week. I was very impressed by his attention to detail and would definitely use him again for future projects.

I was having my front porch replaced . When they removed the original porch, we discovered that the builder has not used treated wood and so the faceplate had rotted. I had to immediately find someone to replace it. Derek immediately came over to evaluate the situation. He then came back on a Saturday and replaced the faceplate. Derek is very professional and was wonderful to take care of my issue so quickly! I highly recommend him!

Derek came over listened to what i was looking for and designed a beautiful cabinet that runs 9 feet across a wall. He got back to me quickly with a sketch and a price. The quallity, workmanship, and fiinishes were beautiful, he is a meticulous craftsman, I could not be happier with the outcome. Not only that he is extremely respectful of his clients wishes, time and home. Each time he left during the install the house was spotless. I would recommend Derek to anyone with a woodworking project

Derek came out to assess the situation the same day I called. He figured out the best way to fix the problem with minimal damage the the walls and cabinets. He returned the next day to complete the repairs. Everything worked out perfectly. Derek also repaired some rotting wood near our master shower.

From start to finish my experience with Derek was excellent. The project started with a consultation in my home where we sketched out what we wanted the entertainment center to look like. Derek then provided me a quote a couple of days later. I was getting another quote as well so I did not get back to Derek right away. However, Derek followed-up with me to check on status and reiterate his interest in our project. I appreciated this level of interest. Once we made the decision to go with Derek he came back out to our house to finalize the design. Within a couple of weeks we got a call from him with a status update and an anticipated install date. The install took almost an entire Saturday, but the process went incredibly smooth. I cannot express how happy we are with the final product. It is exactly what we are looking for and in my opinion the craftsmanship is top notch. I can tell the attention to detail Derek takes in his work in things like the design of the inside of the cabinet doors, that most people won't see.

Derek showed up on time each time he came to my house. He was able to work with the drywall guys to make sure the fit and finish would be perfect. He was only at the house when he needed to be, and showed up and was able to work independently when I had to travel and be out of the house. I cannot say enough about the fit and finish of the molding and cabinet carcasses.

Mr. Brainard was a pleasure to work with. From start to finish, the job went very smoothly. He helped us design the cabinets we wanted and then promptly provided a quote and estimated time for completion. Mr. Brainard then built our cabinets quickly yet with the highest quality workmanship. The finished product is beautiful, top notch quality and everyone who has seen them has complimented us on how beautiful they are. In particular we appreciated how attentive he was to details before installing. He noticed that we may want a new outlet installed prior to his installation (and he was right). There were a few follow up adjustments that needed to be made after installation and Mr. Brainard was quick to attend to them. Overall, it was an excellent experience. We will definitely use Mr. Brainard for any additional cabinetry we have done!

This was hands down the best home improvement experience we have ever had. Derek is a highly skilled carpenter who takes the time to discuss with you what it is you want and also gives you advice if you are uncertain of some of the details of your project. He worked within the time frame he gave me, in fact, finished earlier than I expected. My husband and I are completely happy with the finished cabinets/bookcases! He stayed in touch with us throughout to let us know how it was coming along, which greatly adds to your peace of mind. Derek is very professional. We could not have asked for a better experience or a more skilled carpenter.

Absolute joy to work with because Derek, the owner, is a one man shop who takes precise measurements, is very customer focused, and delivers what he says he's going to deliver at reasonable cost. Experience was wonderful. Derek's skilled carpentry service was excellent. His respnsiveness was the best we have ever had in a service provider. His attention to the details was key to the high quality work we received.

Derek was very punctual in returning phone calls and showing up when he said he would. He likes getting an early start in the morning before the heat of the day sets in. If he says 7:30 AM he will be there. He arrived for the estimate on time and listened to what I thought I needed. Information and suggestions were given to me concerning the repair work. Within 2 days of the estimate he called me with the cost. I agreed to the estimate. A partial payment was agreed upon. I sent $50.00 more. He arrived on time on the 11th with his son as his helper. They quickly and quietly set up their work area and began the work. His son Matt was his assistant. Derek did all of the carpentry. The quality is exceptional! He sealed the wood on the ends with an exterior primer to help prevent rot. The boards were rounded with a router to match existing boards. The steps are substantial. No worry about them not being secure or not being able to hold a lot of weight. He even placed cement blocks under the steps so they wouldn't be in contact with the ground! I was so pleased with the quality of the work that I didn't at first see the large deck nail heads. My deck is nailed down with long finishing nails for a beautiful appearance. You can't see the nail heads. I called him the next day , the 12th. When I mentioned the nail heads' appearance he immediately said he thought about it when he started to nail the boards down. He said he should have used the refinishing nails. He replaced the 2 floor boards and used the finishing nails on the 18th. Yes you read that correctly. He replaced the boards. He was also very careful with nails. I have dogs. I wouldn't want them stepping on a stray nail or two. Clean up was also exceptional. He will be doing all repair work on my deck from this point on. I even have another project in mind. He and I discussed it. Brainard's Woodworking does exceptional quality work! You can't go wrong with this company.

We had an ugly wet bar in the family room that was just used to collect clutter. I hired a plumber to remove the plumbing, and Derek ripped out the sink, counter & cabinets. Derek created a painted unit that was approximately 48 inches wide, 80.5 inches tall and 30 inches deep for this space. The lower 30 inches are cabinetry with glass doors and 2 adjustable shelves. We are storing DVDs, the satellite box, DVR player & game console on these shelves. We had electricity already running to this area. The middle section houses our TV on a pull out and swivel shelf. The upper portion is additional storage. Derek's measurements were perfect, and the unit looks and functions fabulously.

Now, I hope to have Derek refinish an antique walnut dropleaf dining room table.

Mr. Brainard has built cabinets for years, either through his own business or for firms. He knows what he is doing. He did the modifications in the home and was very careful to ensure dust and dirt from the work didn't carry to the furniture and tables in the room.

Provider not helpful at all.

Trimmed 3 doors that were rubbing against the door frame or floor. They were very quick and did a great job.

HGTV had decorated a d.r. wall with molding panels and Derric was able to replicate the three panels. It was labor intensive, but he did a beautiful job. I couldn't be more pleased.

am an interior designer who contacted Derek to build a custom TV console for a client based on a picture and their needs and he delivered a product beyond any of our expectations. I highly recommend him and definitely consider him as my go-to-guy for anything custom made from now on. Brilliant! I'll post pictures as soon as possible it's that gorgeous.
