Decided to use painter's resource to avoid any discrepancies between what should be done. Would have chosen this supplier if this was not a consideration.

Mr. Brainard was able to remove the interior structure of that cabinet in place, and design and construct the framing and opening to fit our new built in microwave. In fact, Derek was able to also add a very large pull out drawer under the microwave, allowing us more storage that had been hollow, unused space before. After he had completed his work, the interior of the cabinet was so beautifully done it was a shame to hide it by installing the microwave. The change this has made in our kitchen in the updated appearance, the added storage of the new spacious drawer, and gaining countertop space by losing the countertop microwave is amazing! His courteous, attentive, timely and professional manner only added to our satisfaction. We hope to have Mr. Brainard back very soon to complete another cabinet modification.

Excellent, Derek is a skilled woodworker. It took some time to schedule the work, but he is worth waiting for. Always on time and pleasant to work with. He is creative and precise with his work.

Wayne did a fantastic job on our project. He took out and totally rebuilt 6 pull out shelves in our pantry. He put in heavier sliders so that we could increase the amount of items on the shelves. Love his work!

Derek is amazing! He's precise and he uses state of the art tools that are very impressive. He is quite timely, professional, experienced, and kind. He listened to our needs and asked questions throughout the project to ensure that we were happy. We have two young children who were present when Derek was working on our countertops and he was attentive to them as well. He talked our three-year-old through some of the processes and assured him that the loud tools wouldn't hurt him, we appreciated that. Derek is certainly a craftsman who is not only good at what he does, but he also enjoys it so detail and care goes into all the work he does.

Derek perfectly matched the cabinets with the new drawer. I had already had two other companies turn down the job because the cabinets were hard to match.

Great! Painters were coming to paint the whole house and Derek understood that we needed the garage repaired before the painters left the job. The new panels were crafted by Derek by the next day and installed and everything went smoothly.

Excellent! I would highly recommend Derek for any woodworking needs. He is truly service-oriented, and does top-notch work. He has a great eye for detail, and every aspect of the piece is done just right. Several of the things he made for me had to be installed, and he took his time to make sure they were installed properly -- and didn't stop until he was satisfied that everything looked just right. He also noticed a few other things in my house that needed attending to and helped me out with them. Derek built some custom bookshelves for me years ago, and so when I needed these pieces done, he was the natural person to go to. I am thrilled with his work, and would definitely hire him for any future woodworking that I need to have done.

Work was completed in one day. Prompt reply to inquiry and service provided same day of estimate. Would use again. Cupboard was not a standard shape in corner of kitchen and more than one piece of wood needed to be used. However, doesn't seem to be that noticeable.

Can't say enough about this wonderful man. He is very busy & we had to wait for him to fit us in his schedule since our jobs are small compared to other work he has. He remains in contact with us constantly. Calls to update us on his availability & is very honest. He rebuilt a chimney from the bottom up outside that had rotted from water damage. He had to completely put in new structure and framing. He did an outstanding job, very particular & even sealed the area up with caulking & primer until the stucco company could finish the outer layer. After paying him, he sent me a $25 check in the mail, saying that he had accidentally overcharged me! Who does that! We are now waiting for him to find another slot to fit us in between jobs as we have 3 more projects. We are very content to wait on him, especially with the quality work he does. He is not into the digital era :) He did not even know I had sent him emails on Angie's list. You must call him by phone. He doesn't do email, texting, etc. Just phone calls. He is one of the nicest men I have ever worked with. Will use him again & again!

Derek visited in February and said to call him after it was warm enough to paint (above 40 degrees F at night). He arrived late morning as he said he would (after calling to confirm we would be home). On the first day he assessed what had to be done and took measurements on what needed to be replaced. The next day he was here and worked about 4 hours replacing sill pieces and window trim. He sealed other areas. He then primed and painted everything he fixed, which we did not expect - we could have done that. If he had not fixed the windows for us, we were looking at $15,000 or more to replace the windows in the front of our house (north side). We recommend him highly. He is also going to work on an interior problem at our daughter's residence when he has time available.

The job went quite smoothly. Derek is a craftsman who does high-quality work, pays attention to detail, brings a professional approach to the job, and is responsive and punctual regarding appointments. We'll be quite willing to use his services again in the future.

The concrete steps connecting to our garage door is small and ugly, so we decided to cover them up by a wood deck. Derek came the other week after we called, and he finished the whole work within just a few hours. The new deck looks pretty and it is much safer than the steps we used to have. We are very impressed and we highly recommend his work to others.

Part of the bottom panel of the wooden garage door on our 33 year old home had developed wood rot and had rotted completely through the door. The door manufacturer had gone out of business so we were unable to purchase just a replacement panel. Therefore it looked like our only option was to replace the entire door for about $7,000. I called Derek and explained the job and sent him pictures of the rotted door section. Derek showed up exactly when scheduled, assessed the job, then started right there to cut out the rotted wood. He kept pieces of the trim that he had cut out and took them back to his shop so that he could custom mill pieces to match the trim profile. Derek returned when scheduled about three days later and installed the new pieces. After I put a coat of matching paint on the new wood, you have to look VERY closely to even see the seams where he joined the new wood to the old. Derek is very pleasant and easy to work with. He is meticulous and very detailed with his work. I highly recommend Derek Brainard to anyone needing a complex carpentry solution.

Called Derek Tuesday morning....explained the job....he said he would check his schedule and get back to me. He called back the very next day and asked if he could come on Thursday morning.. I said yes and the rest is history. He came...he did a great job...was very nice and neat, easy to work with. i am very happy with the completed job.

Derrick is a true craftsman. His work is high end and his attention to detail is outstanding. He built a locker system, shelving unit and created an extra pantry for us in our mudroom off the garage. I was very nervous because he does the work out of his workshop and installs when completed. However, I was simply blown away with the final product. He does beautiful work. I highly recommend him. I love my hallway coat hook / shelf too. It's gorgeous. Derrick is top notch.

I needed to have the bottom edge of a kitchen cabinet modified to accommodate a taller refrigerator. Derek responded to my phone message promptly and we discussed the proposed project. We scheduled a time for him to come out to the house and he arrived on time and provided an estimate. He performed the work at that time, reducing the bottom edge of the cabinet. The cabinets are custom Amish made and Derek was able to complete the work without removing the cabinet from the wall. The bottom edge looks great. Signs of work are only visible on very close inspection and the cabinet is above the refrigerator so it is not used anyways. The new refrigerator fit under the cabinet with room to spare. We were very pleased that Derek was able to complete this task since other companies we contacted were not interested since they had not installed the original cabinets.

Derek did a great job. He had our cabinet finished in a week and his work is very high quality. He is meticulous with his measurments and really wants to get it right. We are very pleased with his work and will be using him again in the future.

Derek was great. He met at my home, took measurements, and discussed what we wanted. He gave me quotes the next day over the phone and his prices were comparable to what others had placed on Angie's List. We agreed on the price he and he stated when he would be able to start. Once he completed the job he was working on he started some preliminary measurements and verified what we wanted. I was surprised to find that he completes some portions of the job at his home workshop before installing but it actually helped to keep the house together a little before installation. Once the shelves were ready he came out with his son and started installing. It took a couple of days to get the shelves up and then a couple more to finish the crown molding. The end result was excellent. I have exactly what we asked for and the quality of work is great. Derek was very professional and honest during the job. I plan to bring him back in the future for other projects.
