Derek did a great job replacing sections of baseboards and toe boards next to our new floor registers. He could not find an exact match so he had to create something to get close to matching the existing baseboards

So glad I contracted with Derek to do this job. Old stairs had been carpeted, when carpet was removed the reveal showed stairs in horrible shape with gaps between treads/risers and walls. Derek did a beautiful job of replacing the old stairs with red oak hardwood. He even did some additional bracing under the stairs. Very attentive to details and very thorough cleanup after the job. I would highly recommend Derek for any woodworking project you need completed.

Derek is a master craftsman taking a lot of pride in his work. This is the second time I have used him to complete projects in my garage. He's easy to work with, he's fair, and I recommend him for any residential carpentry and wood working projects.

Derek arrived on time and finished the job in one day. His carpentry skills showed as everything was a nice tight fit and he used the correct material for the job. He went above and beyond by digging out around lower window wells and replacing the wood that was at ground level and below with treated lumber. All trim joints were sealed, and all the trim was primed and painted (minus the treated lumber which needs to dry out before painting). He even replaced a couple boards we had reviewed that I was not expecting to be replaced (but needed to be replaced). If you want a quality woodworking project done at a fair price, Brainards is the one to choose. Plus he does all his own work.

Great. Derek gave me an estimate for each job, and stayed with the estimate. He had to figure out how to do some of the repairs, as they were not straight forward in every case. He kept in communication by cell phone, was prompt and polite. Did high quality work. He cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend him for your woodworking needs.

This is the second project that Derek completed at my house. He attached 2 very long handrails to the walls. It required complex & accurate measurements and delicate & tricky operations. As expected, he did a superb job.

We recently moved into a house new to us. When I first contacted Derek, I was interested in an entertainment center. At our meeting, he brought photos of his work, and took measurements. But I couldn't decide what I wanted ... I decided to wait on that until we had lived in the house longer. However, we had a kitchen nook that I thought was missing a window seat. He came again, took measurements, and I got a price the next day. I agreed, and he came again to finalize the measurements. He did most of the work at his workshop, so there was very little disturbance. He exactly matched the paint, and it looks like it's original to the house. The quality is top notch: full extension drawers and matching trim to our original mouldings We are very happy with the window seat, and will be contacting him in the future for the entertainment center.

Derek did a wonderful job. He came in, accessed the door, proposed solution, quoted a price, removed the door and took it to his shop that day. Four days later he returned the door, rehung, and completed inside touch-ups. Derek's workmanship is impeccable. We could not believe the finished product as it looks like a new door. This was an intricate project in that there are small carvings in the wood. Derek hand sanded the entire door, matched the stain perfectly and applied three coats of high quality sealant with UV protection. Derek was prompt to follow-up during the project. He indicated when he would be here and showed up exactly on time, each time. His demeanor is calm, pleasant, and sincere. Derek's work is professional. We highly recommend Derek and we will use him again.

Derek listened to our requests and gave us options. He did the building off site in his own work shop and returned to our house with each piece fitting. He left enough room inside the mantel for an outlet. The crown molding added to the purchased bookcases makes them look like one cohesive unit. We have a slanted ceiling meeting the wall of brick at the fireplace so he beveled the crown at the top of each column. True Master Carpenter. He matched the paint to the existing bookcases and did a great job painting.

Replaced wood. Did general carpentry on the gazebo. Did a few additional carpentry and stain activities. Derek and his son, Matt, were professional and did a great job. Thank you.
