A 1 Appliance Repair

My 8 year old European model front load washing machine completed a load of laundry, but then the cycle timer stopped counting down with one minute left to go. Because of the timer problem, the washing machine would not unlock its door and I was unable to get my load of laundry out. I called the two factory authorized appliance repair companies in town and both companies said they could not come to service the washing machine for 1 week. I pleaded with both companies (both of which I have used numerous times in the past for repairs on other appliances) to at least send a technician by sooner to just get the door of the machine opened manually so that I could get my load of clothes out. Both companies said there was no one available earlier and that I would have to wait a week. Of course, if I did that, my load of wet clothes locked in the washing machine would have turned completely moldy and would have been ruined. I also contacted the manufacturer directly to ask how to open the door manually, but they were no help whatsoever. Finally, I called around to several appliance repair companies on Angie's List, most of whom said that they didn't service my brand of washing machine. The gentleman from A-1 Appliance Repair returned my call promptly and also informed me that he did not service my brand of washing machine. However, when I further explained my predicament to him, he offered to come by in an hour and give it his best shot at getting the door opened. If he was successful at opening the door, he said I would have to pay him the usual service charge fee ($64). If he was unable to open the door, he would not charge me. I agreed to this plan and he was at my house an hour later. It took a lot of effort (he had to basically take apart the machine), but $45 minutes later, he was successful in getting the door open and I got my laundry out. It was very kind of him to help me out despite having a busy day with many other commitments. Of course, I do want to point out that he did not actually repair the washing machine, but then, he had never promised to do that. He simply did what I had asked - which was to open the machine door. I have since gotten rid of that washing machine and have bought a new one from a different manufacturer.

Was fast, clean and professional. Would absolutley use this company again.

Our Fridge wasn't getting the freezer cold enough. Found a hot spot on it as well. Called A 1 then next morning. He came out that evening and diagnosed the problem. We needed a new fan. He pulled out the fridge and put one of our fans on it to keep it going until he could get a replacement. The part took a couple days to get here but the Fridge was working well enough to drop the settings on the fridge and freezer. So glad we called him.

I woke up this morning to a dead refrigerator! I used Brooke previously for another appliance, so I called him. He was able to come within an hour, diagnosed the problem, got the part, installed it and presto! I have a working refrigerator! Who could possibly ask for more!!! I will recommend him to everyone I know. Great job!

Brooke was very professional, personable and thorough. He said he would try to fit me in earlier in the afternoon to accommodate my schedule and I was pleased that he was able to do so. I will definitely use his services again.

Fridge not very cold, so decided to call for help instead of trying to fix it myself. Within one hour of calling, was meeting service man at my house. Within another hour, problem fixed and fridge was cold again. Very prompt service and quickly fixed the problem!

Brooke arrived early and was ready to look at my dishwasher to see what the problem was. He told me that, with this particular model, my infrequent use had caused the seal to freeze. He pumped out the water in the basin and poured hot water into the unit. He explained that it might work and it might not. Luckily, it worked like a charm. But there was a noise that indicated that a bearing was going bad. He said that it might last a while or it might not; but it would be better to replace the dishwasher at that point because the cost of repair would approach the cost of a new unit. I was quite pleased with the service from start to finish.

Very quick response to our call for help. He came when scheduled. Friendly and completed the work rapidly and effectively.

I called Brooke at 8AM.He came to my home two hours later.He diagnosed the problem and found a part to replace the defective one.He quoted a price for the total repair and set up a time to return.He returned later in the day to install the new part.Problem solved and I didn't have to buy a new washer.

VERY well. We have used him before. We called in the moring, he came in the afternoon. It took about 1 hour to dignose and fix the problem. He stayed longer without charging us to be sure he really fixed the problem.

I found my frig was broken on a Friday morning and spent the afternoon calling appliance repair places to see if anybody could come that night to look at it. Brooke from A-1 Appliance Repair was able to come that night at 7pm. He fixed the problem although he said it was temporary and I would need to buy a new frig, the fix is still working great. Brooke was very professional, friendly, communicated well, and explained what he was donig and why. I was very happy with his service and would recommend him to anybody.

I called Brooke at 9:45 am and my refrigerator was working by 11:15am. Brooke was very friendly and help both over the phone and in person. I own my own heating and cooling company and I understand all about customer service. Brooke is very good at what he does and I highly recommend him.

We found rust spots getting on our clothes. The drum really looks pitted and rusty looking. Called A-1 to see what approx costs would be. Left a message and got a call-back in just a few min. He asked questions about the dryer and what was wrong. He then talked himself out of a repair job, by telling me the TRUTH about the repair and since my dryer is very old, the other things that may also be ready to go bad soon. He said I would be better off to replace the dryer than to repair it. That is the reason I called. To find the answer to that question and he answered very honestly. He probably saved me a lot of money and a lot of grief.

Few things are more disruptive than discovering the freezer is no longer freezing. And few things are more satisfying than discovering a repair person who's responsive, knowledgeable, trustworthy and reasonably priced. Brooke took care of my problem in fewer than 3 hours. I've found a great new resource!

My washing machine belt broke while our family was not home. After surveying the damage, the belt was basically burnt in two. I call A-1 the next day. I told Brooke the problem and he mentioned that the belt may not be the main problem. Brooke came out the same day and did a complete diagnostic on the washing machine. Upon further inspection, the braking system was shot. With the parts and labor involved, Brooke recommended that I get rid of this machine and plan on purchasing a new one.

I would definitely recommend A-1 Appliance & will use them again without a doubt! Brooke provided excellent service, was very honest & was able to troubleshoot the problem quickly. He also explained future options for the appliance. Brooke was very knowledgeable, and he definitely took the time to answer all of my questions.

Call him. He was able to come out the same day. On the phone he asked the age of the appliances and said he would quote them first to see if it was cost effective to fix or replace them. He was professional and explained options and gave us a break on two appliances service call since he was out for one already. He ordered the part for the stove. Called and came out again when convenient(day later).

I called Brooke the Saturday of Easter weekend expecting to just leave a voicemail since most companies in this field don't work the weekends. He responded immediately and came out that day to detect the issue. He couldn't fix the problem immediately because the parts suppliers weren't open on the weekend. On Monday, we talked a few times and he found the part at the best price. He then came to my house Monday evening to make the repair. It was overall a good experience start to finish.

He provides excellent service and his price is reasonable.

This is the second time I have used this company for an appliance repair. Brooke repaired a washer for me a couple of years ago and this time he repaired my dryer. He is honest, knowledgeable, and extremely reliable. He came the same day I called and completed the repair at a very reasonable price. I would encourage anyone who needs an appliance repair to contact him. He has my very highest recommendation.

I called early on a Sunday afternoon after I had determined the fridge wasn't working right. I had no expectations of getting a callback on a Sunday, but within 30 minutes I got a call from Brooke at A-1. He said that he could stop by at 6 that evening. I was ectstatic to get the fridge looked at so quickly. At 6PM sharp Brooke arrived. He immediately identified the problem and by 8PM that Sunday night my refridgerator was working again. I forget the name of the part, but it controlled the frost removal heaters that prevent the refrigerator from frosting up and preventing it from working properly. Brooke indicated that he would return by Tuesday to replace a part that had gone bad in the fridge, but he explained that the fridge would work for right now. On Tuesday afternoon he returned and replaced the part in the fridge, and his service only cost $170. The refrigerator has worked perfectly since that time. In conclusion, he arrived promptly, even on a Sunday, he didn't try to convince me to make expensive repairs on an older fridge, and completed the job when he said he would for a price that appears more than fair. I highly recommend A-1, and I will only use A-1 for any future appliance repair.

Great experience. I called late (after hours)on a Monday and he had me to call the next morning. When I called Tuesday morning he had a window of time open in the afternoon. He was at the house when I arrived. The broken door switch was quickly identified and replaced. The dryer still did not work and after troubleshooting it was discovered that there was a switch (I wasn't aware of, but apparently the kids had found!)that operated the outlet and had been turned off. Once the switch was turned on the dryer worked. Overall it was a very good experience and I would recommend this company to anyone.

I couldn't be happier! I called this morning and Brooke said that he could squeeze me in between appointments. He was at my house in under an hour and he had my dishwasher fixed in no time. He ran 5 cycles to ensure that he got the clog that was causing the problem.
